Lucky daddy. We are all used to the fact that if Gerard Depardieu and in the main, yes in comedies, it is undoubtedly a duet either with Richard or with Clavier, and maybe with Renault. But Gerard, would not be so revered in the world if he were not an independent good master of his craft and tragicomedy "My father is my hero" extra confirmation of this. It is here that Gerard is one and this film confirms the version that this is a really amazing actor, and not a real reveler and a lover of Burgundy, which many of his “fans” like to represent him.
First of all, the genre appeals to itself - tragicomedy, which exceptionally accurately characterizes everything that happens on the screen, where tragedy is to be, and sentimentality is even more. Thanks to the emotional effect built in a undulating style, you are constantly under tension, not groundlessly waiting for this or that disaster. This tension seems to be useful in order to penetrate the viewer more into the problems and worries of the characters, but at the same time takes a lot of emotional strength and energy.
To some extent, it is a theater on the shores of the Mauritian land, where the main roles are a good-natured father, a loving but troubled daughter, as well as her lover, not devoid of reason, but woven into a mad web of lies and teenage recklessness. And if the young are responsible for youthful leprosy and the accompanying troubles, then the father in the performance of Depardieu, as an aksakal, as the core, as the heart of this story, which is responsible not only for the behavior of the young, but also for the perception and success of the film as a whole. The film, which, as I now see, has gained considerable fame not only in old Europe, but also in the United States, where European similar films are incredibly difficult to break through.
According to Kinopoisk, the film lasts almost two and a half hours, but I personally came across, or maybe in principle it is, the version of minutes is 40 less. Why I say this is because many moments, starting from the very first scene, seem to be cut off, both from the front and from the back. I don't think it's the director's idea, most likely an unsuccessful editing.
Depardieu and in truth: both great and powerful. The 91st year characterizes him as a middle-aged man, whose tummy begins to flow smoothly, I am not afraid of this word, into the modern Beast and broad Lychische. Gerard at this time, however, is in good shape, which confirms his skiing, on horses, however, the first traces of a set of stunning mass are still there.
Children are not only the flowers of life, but also the roots of many ills, especially if these children are teenagers. To understand this situation, of course, it is possible and even necessary. But is it easier for their parents?
As the saying goes, “children grind their teeth against the bones of their parents.”
I want to say a special thank you to the young actors who very vitally conveyed the mood of their characters. Thank you Gerard Losier, who created this difficult to watch, but soulful, very emotional and touching film. And of course, a low bow to Monsieur Gerard Depardieu, who like no other suits the role of a kind, loving, REAL father, a father with a capital letter who loves his daughter dimensionlessly ... and will love her forever! Despite everything...
