I remember when I was a kid, there was a lot of CTC advertising. The movie itself saw in snatches and all I remembered from there was a fat ninja sitting on a twine on top of two palm trees. This image made me laugh, so why not watch the movie as an adult?
The first association with "Kung Fu Panda", here and the message about the chosen warrior, both heroes are fat and their humor is built on clumsiness.
Chris Farley, who plays the main role, is a brilliant actor. His energy amazes me. A man weighing 150 kilograms jumps the whole movie like an Olympic gymnast. The wheel does, the twine falls, with its dimensions - looks unrealistically cool.
At the very beginning of the film, a brilliant reference to Taxi Driver. You don’t expect to see something like this in a movie called ‘The Ninja of Beverly Hills’.
As with Adam Sendler’s films, snobbery has no place here. We turn off our inner skeptic, take sweet tea, plaid, recline in a chair and enjoy the film.
The first half of the film, looks cheerful, then 20 minutes miss, and then laugh again in voice. Especially from the scene where Chris Farley beats off bullets by waving two sabers.
Cinema is not as absurd as the films of the same years with Adam Sandler, but there is an incredibly energetic and funny Chris Farley, so it is worth watching after a hard day at work.
The 1990s saw the peak of martial arts film popularity, so a comedy like Beverly Hills' Ninja was highly anticipated. These days, such tapes are very lacking, because the standards of American cinema have changed, and the genre of comedies is close to extinction.
As a fan of Asian cinema, I laugh at scenes that I don’t think were comedic. Western perceptions of people in Japan and China who supposedly live and breathe kung fu do not hold up to both criticism and seriousness. Meditation, the superphysical level of consciousness, the ninja – all mixed together, and hardly the director understood the difference between Chinese and Japanese cultures. But since "The Beverly Hills Ninja" is a comedy, you can close your eyes to some conventions.
The main character Haru (Chris Farley) is a clumsy fat man who thinks himself a white ninja from an ancient prophecy. Breaking and destroying something at almost every step, Haru applies all his skills to help the seductive beauty Allison (Nicolet Sheridan), and the Gobey moving in the shadows (Robin Shaw) is the analogue of the same guy who everywhere shakes for universal security and becomes an involuntary scapegoat. Half of the film, or maybe all of it, consists of a bunch of awkward situations that the characters get into, but still dexterity and luck (sometimes fantastic) allow them to move forward in their investigation. There is the famous cliché “lady in trouble”, and a couple of awkward scenes with African-American Joey (Chris Rock). For such details in 1997, the films have not yet been torn apart, so now they are especially interesting to review.
Plus the movie for its humor, I still have to say the most obvious flaw: the inexplicable metamorphosis that happens to Haru. Without any prerequisites and hints, it changes too much at a certain moment, leaving the audience in complete (almost fat) perplexity. Too much convention is bad even in comedies, so the film still does not reach the top score.

I am sure that most of those who once watched the 1994 comedy “Nanny” with twins David Paul and Peter Paul, probably remember the film “Ninja from Beverly Hills” with Chris Farley. Both comedic action films and both evoke warm memories of the genre of harmless comedies available for family viewing. And both films in their plot component are light, windy and partly stupid, but still they win the hearts of the audience with this – their frivolity and naivety!
Haru (Chris Farley) is a young man raised by a ninja clan in Japan. He came to them in infancy and therefore was brought up among martial arts masters. Here's only Haru, not only that white, and still does not correspond to the usual parameters of the ninja - he is a thick swagger, but at the same time has an open and disposed character.
And of course, when a stunning beauty turns to him for help, Haru can not refuse the girl to help and enthusiastically takes up business in order for her to draw attention to him.
The slogan of the film “Kung Fool!” is quite consistent with the content of the film, because Haru in some cases turns out to be a smart guy, and in some outright profane. But again, a big and kind heart, a desire to be useful, drives him forward and makes him ignore failure. Haru forgets them immediately and follows the cherished goal.
Chris Farley, who played the main role, died some time after the release of the film and in fact he was remembered by the viewer for this role. In this regard, the actor can be called the very star that flashed brightly in the sky and also quickly faded away. Despite the average rating of the film (5.5 points), it is still loved by many and continues to remain recognizable, including thanks to the overall ninja figure of Haru.
Along with Farley, another man played here, whose role in the 90s brought him wide recognition. Robin Shue (or Shaw) in the early 90s thought about ending his career as an actor and going into business, but then he was invited to audition for Mortal Kombat, where he played the main role in both parts - Liu Kang. And it is with him that this computer character is now associated and each new part of the game has its Liu Kang, in which the features of Robin Shue are traced. Here, in "The Ninja of Beverly Hills," he played the shadow of Haru - his secret assistant and brother in spirit, helping the hapless fighter in all matters. In my opinion, Shu coped well with his role and after “Deathly Battle”, where he demonstrated his skills in hand-to-hand combat, showed that he can also play in comedies.
The film itself, I repeat, evokes only pleasant memories. Probably because the hero of Chris Farley was kind and sympathetic and every viewer sincerely worried about him and dreamed that this guy would become the “Great White Ninja”, which was once a legend.
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
The ninja clan has long had a belief: according to legend, a child from a distant land is destined to become the greatest martial artist. And now 25 years ago, a large chest washed up to the shores of the island in waves, in which ninjas find a small blonde boy. Teacher Sensei takes up a boy and tries not only to instill a love for the culture of the Japanese people, but also to teach the secret arts of ninjas in self-defense and survival. However, soon the man realizes that Haru is just a fat lazy fat man who has only one talent - skillfully attract failure and masterfully get into trouble. When after many years of training, the only student is not awarded a pendant ninja, the guy is terribly upset. When Sensei, along with the new professionals, goes to the baptism of fire, Haru remains to watch the school. The boy, unable to resist the temptation, despite the teacher’s prohibition, put on a kimono ninja and took a combat weapon to pore in front of the mirror. At this point, a charming blonde arrives at school: the girl introduces herself to Sally Jones and asks Hara to establish surveillance for her lover. The good-natured guy agrees without guessing - this decision will lead to the fact that he will be accused of murdering a person.
It's a great movie. The directors did their best here. Action, comedy and even a light thriller! Actors are great. Martial arts performed by a white, fat hero will bring you to hysterical laughter. And the atmosphere of the whole plot is quite kind and slightly instructive. There are no pools of blood, severed fingers, legs and heads. There's a simple kid here trying to prove to himself that he can do more, better. He'll prove it! Not without the help of a half-brother.
3016. An old man sat on benches and smoked a cigarette. He had a long gray beard, which he scratched periodically. A few minutes later, he was approached by his adult grandson, who was practicing kung fu. The grandson was trained by the best martial artists for several years. He had a black belt. Grandpa looked at his grandson and then offered him a little sparring. The grandson began to laugh at his old man, who had long been in senility, but still agreed. He should not have agreed, because after a second he was already lying on the ground with a bruise under his eye.
The grandson was shocked because the old man had never practiced kung fu. The old man did nothing at all, and spent all day lying around and watching a movie on his old video player. He reached out and asked, “Have you ever heard the legend of the great white Z?” The grandson shook his head negatively, and the old man pulled out one tape. “A long time ago, the great white Z gave it to me, and now I’m giving it to you, watch it, but before that, turn on one Carl Douglas song about kung fu to full volume.”
O-ho-ho-ho-hoo
Oh-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-oh.

Chris Farley, Liu Kang, my dove Allison, Dugan, Chris Rock and the great white Z - "Ninja of Beverly Hills"
Wonderful comedy. One of the funniest comedies of the second half of the nineties. A comedy that you can watch every day. And only one person is to blame, the inimitable actor Chris Farley, who played here a ragged ninja named Haru (from the Takagure dojo). Haru tried to become a great white ninja from an early age, but nothing worked. For example, while his fellow ninjas burned their palms on coals, Haru cooked a delicious barbecue on them. He was very kind, but everything fell out of his hands. But one day all the ninjas went to the city, and Haru was left to guard the dojo. It was at this point that a girl named Allison (my dove) arrived to hire a ninja. This is how the movie begins.
I first saw this comedy a few years after it came out in the movies. I never had a cassette of this movie, but my friends did. I remember we even had some kind of count, we put some tapes on the floor and counted them, which tape was the last, and put it in the video player. On one of these days, the choice fell on the film Ninja from Beverly Hills. You have no idea what happened to us. We were lying on the floor laughing. I didn’t even know Chris Farley was dead. He died in 1997. It was very sad because it was the only one of its kind. There were a lot of comedians in the cinema, but Chris was irreplaceable, charming and damn funny. It could have been done, but not fate.
It was a delight, friends. There are films that eventually cease to please or delight you, but this is not the case. Farley should have given the Oscar. Haru is one hundred percent his role. The perfect hit for all the casting people. He was funny in himself, and in this film it was just beyond everything. Something funny happens in the movie every minute. And the most interesting thing is that this film was directed by the regular director Adam Sandler (by the way, Adam was a friend of Chris in real life), the old man Dennis Dugan, nominated several times for a bad Golden Raspberry Award. I won’t excuse him for all the nonsense he made, but this film definitely stands out from the rest of his films.
The movie turned out to be funny and without the nasty vulgarity that flooded modern cinema. Yes, the humor in the film is silly, but it is a classic when a major protagonist constantly falls and generally behaves like a fool. Back in the silent cinema, old Roscoe Arbuckle did such things, and how many of them were after. Humor can be different (even vulgar and vulgar), but most importantly it should be funny. This movie can be watched by the whole family. In the background you can see a young Chris Rock. And do not forget about Liu Kang, but rather actor Robin Shaw, who two years before this film played a major role in the mind-blowing action movie “Deathly Battle”.
It is a pity that not all fans of comedies know this wonderful film. I’m not talking about the actor Chris Farley, who in addition to this film lit up everywhere he appeared – “Lucky sheep”, “Tommy dumpling”, etc. He was the star of the Nineties, and also of my personal cinema, which I keep in my heart. You need to know actors like this, and you need to have movies like this in your collection. If you want to relax, do not pass by. The movie is very kind and positive. Some people say this movie is similar to the Kung Fu Panda cartoon. If Chris was alive, I’m sure he was the voice of the main character in this cartoon. Watch this movie because you are not alone in the universe.
Scenes from the film:
The first - Haru training at the very beginning of the film.
Second - Haru in a nightclub (look at its plastic).
Third - Haru in a restaurant (A-haru-hamburla - yaya).
Fourth - Haru climbed the palm tree.
Fifth This is the scene I want to highlight because it always gets goosebumps, it's about the 77th minute of the movie — "I may not be the best ninja, I may not be the only one in the universe, but no one has the right to touch my brother!"
P.S.
Chris Farley (1964-1997) – You were alone in the universe, but the great white Z will never forget you.

This film will not go around the bush, and from the very beginning declares, yes, I am a great satire, both on action films about cool heroes who can eat with their teeth, and on films about all sorts of chosen ones whose fate is destined to save the world, and therefore ordinary people in front of them in every possible way babble. Intrigued? Well, in that case, let me introduce you to a comedy from my distant childhood that is received with a bang even after all these years. So this is "The Ninja of Beverly Hills."
Long ago, some sage (what he predicted already makes him a sage, aha) predicted that a boy would arrive at the Takogoro dojo, who would later become a great white ninja who would glorify both his name and the names of the people who raised him. And indeed, to the shores of the island, where this glorious institution was located, threw the cradle in which the baby slept. Sensei decided that it was a sign from above and began to teach the boy along with other students, in the hope that the great and invincible white ninja would grow up. But Haru grew up. This is a naive, awkward and fat guy who has everything falling out of his hands, and he can't live a day without breaking something. And not because he is an evil and bad man, but quite the contrary, because he is a good man and goes out of his way to prove to everyone that he is exactly the warrior of the legend. And of course, he will have the opportunity when a beautiful stranger appears on the doorstep of the dojo, asking Hara for help. And here's the great fat... er, I mean, the great white ninja goes to Beverly Hills to help a beautiful girl and enter into a desperate confrontation with a gang of counterfeiters, and after Haru comes the best student of the Takagoro dojo - Gobei, who is tasked with being the guardian angel of the protagonist and saving him from his own stupidity. Oh yes, it will be fun!
In fact, then there is nothing to tell, since the plot boils down approximately to the fact that Haru tries to be a ninja, demonstrating his skills of stealth, camouflage and possession of weapons, after which Gobei pulls him out of the next scuffle, while each time getting hit on the head. Oh, now I understand how unsweet it is for my guardian angel.
As for the actors, everyone coped with their roles by five. What a wonderful comedian Chris Farley, a bright memory for him. This person has amazing facial expressions and emotions look unfictional, as is usually the case in films of this genre, and very believable. That Robin Shaw, who all his life played the cool heroes of an action movie capable of putting a dozen enemies at once, and then he got the role of a nanny, while the child, without knowing it, constantly sends Gobey to the hospital. You don't need enemies with a friend like that. The rest of the actors are a pleasant addition to the picture, and the film would have lost a lot without them.
The musical accompaniment is perfectly selected and charges the viewer with a charge of cheerfulness and positivity, and it is foolish to demand more from the film of the comedy genre.
Summing up, I want to say that as a child, this picture brought me literally to tears and I revised it, perhaps, twenty times. Now this film can cause both a smile and lift the viewer’s mood and if you haven’t seen this film yet, I strongly advise you to do it, and best of all in the family circle, a sea of positive guarantees.

This is the story of a clumsy ninja, unknown by what wind brought into the ranks of the great honorable ancient Eastern army.
The plot is neither modest nor unpretentious. In fact, in his bewilderment, Haru is launched like Chip and Dale to save the world. But the high priests of the ninja could not leave a man so clumsy that even for himself a dangerous hapless pupil could go all the way. Under the cover of his brother, who was well played by Robin Shaw (the role of Lew Ken in “Deathly Battle”), he goes to conquer Los Angeles.
So in two words...
It's not the plot of this movie. Namely, all the ridiculous awkwardness and clumsiness of the vowel hero cause fun. And the plot... Leave it to the court of the genre "TNT".
But THIS "Ninju" look at the article oit. Even if you are “eat” and fed up with movies. Probably, he hardly needs revision, but rest in the evening ... - with such a mission "Ninja" will cope quite well.

And yes, the comparison with Kung Fu Panda is not in vain! . .
