A look at bodybuilding Bodybuilding as a sport was born recently, about the middle of the XX century. Then the first “serious” competitions such as “Mr. Universe”, “Mr. Olympia” began to be held in order to attract fans. And they succeeded, bodybuilding became quite popular in America, where these competitions were actually held. However, in the international arena, bodybuilding was still at the stage of initial development. And in 1977 on the big screens comes a documentary film about the life and training of bodybuilders – “Pumping iron”. Without exaggeration, this film had a huge impact on bodybuilding in the 70s and subsequent years. R. Fiore and D. Butler took up a topic about which most people had almost no idea, and turned it into one of the hot topics of the decade and thoroughly answered the question - what is bodybuilding? And, of course, thanks to this film, Arnold became a world star.
“Pumping Iron” tells how the strongest bodybuilders are preparing for the most important competitions in bodybuilding – “Mr. Universe” and “Mr. Olympia”. Already from the initial frames we are shown rampant athletes lifting heavy barbells and dumbbells to stimulate muscle growth. In the break between them, interviews with bodybuilders are also shown, which also added a very significant plus in viewing. They talk about their childhood, their first workout, and, most importantly, the techniques and secrets they use to build muscle. Everyone who plays sports will learn something from it because it is really valuable advice. There is also a competition between bodybuilders before the competition, from which it follows that all means are good in the fight for the most honorable title, for example, wrong advice to rivals, mental influence and similar tricks. “If you want to be not only the winner, but also the best, invent something special that will distinguish you from your opponents and surpass them” – this is the main slogan of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Arnold is the main contender for the most important title - Mr. Olympia 1975. Looking at the victories of Arnold and watching his training, the conclusion suggests itself, he is a master of his craft, which made him a winner and a “legend” of bodybuilding, and an idol of millions. To tell the truth, it was thanks to him that I got acquainted with this wonderful sport, as, without a doubt, many people. However, let’s not forget about other bodybuilders such as Lou Ferrigno, Franco Colombo, Mike Katz and other outstanding athletes. They were key figures in the “golden era” of bodybuilding, at a time when it was still in its heyday, and made a significant contribution to its development.
This tape literally showed what this sport is made of in a very bright light and introduced it to many generations. After all, until now, the current youth shows increased interest in training and is motivated thanks to this creation to improve their desired results.
This picture is mandatory for viewing almost all viewers who respect not only bodybuilding, but also sports in general. Pumping Iron is a unique film about bodybuilding, which provides an amazing opportunity to learn the whole essence and purpose of bodybuilding. And at the same time, it serves as an incendiary motivator for any athlete.
