It was hard to find him. The film is based on the story of the murder of three teenagers in Texas.
In fact, the plot is immediately clear. A young detective takes on the investigation of the murder of 3 teenagers in the forest more often. Near the middle of the film, a suspect is announced. But we need to find two more accomplices and find out which of them and how he treated the children so cruelly.
The movie was released on TV in 1993. That’s probably why our translators didn’t do it. To invite McNamara to the role of a psychopath was a good decision. His angelic appearance and cunning look with a horseshoe can quite catch up with creeps. Conrad (detective) is also an old man in great shape. It's a little plus. The story itself, of course, is creepy. I'll never know what's on the mind of animals that can do that. But even with a good musical accompaniment of the story failed to create the same tension, the cold inside, the atmosphere of horror from the cruelty of what is happening. The only moment that I remember is the evening after the committed, when the main psycho and his friend (Clifton Collins, who stopped here for a short time) came home, and McNamara’s hero tried to force his girlfriend to please his friend. It wasn't comfortable, but his look was really crazy. One could get aesthetic pleasure from the image of a maniac, if he kept this look with him all the timekeeping. In addition, the teenagers themselves committed an oversight, a stupidity that cost them their lives.
The film was monotonous and boring without the right atmosphere. The actors are charismatic in themselves, but here frankly decided to relax. That is, not to play as well as you can, not to squeeze everything. It could have been a great thriller.
