If anyone who digs a hole to his neighbor fell into it himself, there would soon be no pits. The heroine of our history today is Rachel Sazeoland. A girl who gets along very badly with people, but was able to find a common language with birds. Well, well, when the girl was able to find her niche, and who is not alone in life, let her companion be the falcon, which is much smarter than her mistress. But the details. One day, a bell rings at a girl’s door. And the call is not someone, but FBI agents who ask to let them into the apartment, because they are watching a dangerous criminal. And it should be noted that the FBI is not the police after all, and for using Rachel's apartment they offer the girls two thousand dollars. What can you say, and this is a lot of money, even by modern standards, what can we say about the distant and unattainable ninety-ninth year? And of course, the girl agrees, but not immediately. A lonely maid falls in love with a charming FBI agent and soon shares with the last lodge. And nothing from the film could be another cheap drama, but soon it turns out that the FBI agents are actually terrorists who are going to kill the President of the Dominican Republic, and at the same time a random witness. Well, you should have listened to your mother, because she strictly forbidden to let strangers into your house.
It would seem that not such a bad start for a thriller from which you can squeeze something more or less intelligible. It would seem, but no. And the reason for that is simple - no one was interested in the success of the picture. Don't you? Well, then I'll give you a couple of examples.
First, there were three people in charge of the script, and that gave us hope that it wouldn’t be so bad. But alas, three people is a great number for drinking hard liquor, and not for writing a script. That is why we have what we have, namely, that the writers have not been able to understand who this film is about? I could not understand this and the reason here is quite banal, since the first thirty minutes of the plot revolves around Rachel and how unhappy and lonely she is, how she hates her mother and can not talk to strangers on the street, but is ready to jump into bed with the first person she meets, and after it turns out that FBI agents are actually assassins, Rachel immediately becomes irrelevant to the plot. Because the viewer is told about a conspiracy in the highest ranks of power. About how some people want to do what would be good for everyone, while forgetting to ask these “all” while others want to prevent them. And while Rachel is still in the film and occasionally in danger from the killers, she looks like a white crow, which evokes only one feeling - to be shot and finally begin to explain why the president of the Dominican Republic behaves like a complete idiot who remains in the country where they are trying to kill him?
But again, the problem is that the writers of the picture do not descend to the explanations of the actions of the main characters, and the characters themselves cause a sharp sense of antipathy, although in fact everything should have been exactly the opposite. The heroine of Natasha Henstridge, for example, is a complex girl who has loved birds since childhood, but no one bothered to even say why? Why have birds become closer to humans? Do not think that I am a terrible bore, just the fact that since you decided to show a strong friendship between man and animal, then be a friend - show how it all began and most importantly, show that a person for his pet is ready for anything, as it was in Hachiko, Red, Life of Pi or Tarzan. Because you can't just put a character in a movie and say he loves animals, believe me. Here you need to show deep feelings and emotions, you need to convince the viewer that Rachel loves her falcon, and not just treat the latter as an interior item. But in addition to being dismissive of Rachel's animals, it's also disparaging her own mother. No, of course I can understand everything, and sometimes the mother is not a gift, but here's what it's like in the film not to say that Rachel's mother did terrible things. Yes, she is an old hippie who suffers from nymphomania (According to the director and the characters of the tape, while the elderly woman herself showed no desire to pounce on the first person she meets on the street), but that’s it. She didn’t kill the girl’s father, beat the girl when she was a child, or worship dark gods. This is a poor woman who was left alone in her old age and therefore began to drink. Is that why Rachel despises her mother? Honestly, in this scenario, it is not Rachel’s mother who deserves contempt, but she herself.
As for the other characters, they are either not disclosed, or the level of mental development is not far from Rachel. A professional assassin who kills his coworkers before completing a mission to show how cool he is? I wonder what the Joker would say on this score by Heath Ledger? I'd probably stick a pencil in a jerk's eye. The dishonest politicians who left the information that they are criminals in a prominent place while describing how they are going to deal with the president of the Dominican Republic? And it will, no doubt. As a result, towards the end of the film, the film resembles a parade of indescribable stupidity and asks only one question - when will you just end, eh?
Summing up, I want to say that the film does not have a clear and exciting storyline. Actors play through a stump-deck, and their characters cause only irritation. Music is often out of place, and the action is put down to primitive. Is this film worth your attention? Definitely not.
