Before that, we were able to shoot. The film is quite old (nothing more ancient I have seen), but nevertheless, I will evaluate and compare it without reference to age. The name "The War Lord" was translated as "The Lord of War" or "The Commander". Honestly, I'm not sure how it works, but the second one sounds more real. Almost all the actors who starred in this film have already died and I am completely unfamiliar. Except for the inimitable Charlton Heston, who played the main role here and in a couple of other suitable films. The plot in the film is simple and not at all unique. A story of love and loyalty in a medieval northern village inspired by paganism. The action takes place in the 11th century in Normandy, during the war with the Frisian tribes. Knight Crisagon went to this very village with his small detachment to stabilize the situation on the orders of his Duke. There he falls in love with the wife of a village guy, which turns everyone against himself. There are many gaps and misunderstandings in the story, especially at the end. However, here the main focus and attention was paid to costumes and realism. Each battle and siege of the tower look very impressive and interesting. Perhaps my love for this film (and I watched it 3 times) is connected with the medieval setting, which I really like. But this does not negate all the advantages of the movie, so I recommend watching.
