The creative union is all smooth there? The film was watched on TV quite by accident, forgave channels before going to bed, and then - boom! and an interesting movie. What a dream!
It is worth noting that I adore Japan, its traditions, language, culture, mentality of people, attitude to nature and history. That’s why I didn’t turn off the TV when I heard that the famous American director Paul wanted to shoot an opera in Japan in the shortest possible time. Only with a real Japanese woman. Where to find the right actress?
That's right, among the geisha, these women who are idolized by men, women who are higher than wives, if not in status, then in importance in the heart of a strong part of the Japanese population. They can sing, dance, play musical instruments, hold a tea ceremony, just talk, skillfully maintaining a conversation, of course, and bring a lot of pleasure (for a lot of money), but most importantly – that a geisha could change a man’s mood only by her presence, make him feel that he is important, and that such a woman is only for him.
Where is the famous actress Lucy - cheerful, famous - literally at the peak of her fame, at the same time loving wife, fervent - up to these revered, highly educated, with impeccable manners ladies?
But Lucy wouldn’t have been Lucy – she was able to take the superficial foundations of behavior and language, and that was enough to fascinate everyone. Transformed beyond recognition, Lucy still not only gets the role, but a wonderful opportunity to test the loyalty of her husband. But this was originally her goal, but for the sake of jokes, the story wraps itself in such a whirlpool that you do not envy the main characters.
On the set, as well as during rest from the shooting process, so many curious cases occur that one can only be surprised by an unusual combination of circumstances. And now the film-opera finally made, but the closer to the end, the darker the clouds over the relationship between wife and husband. And everything changes so dramatically that suddenly you realize that this is not a comedy, this is a real tragedy.
Of course, if it was a movie about the land of the rising sun, then the story could pass for an art house, but the film is about relationships in a family where 2 people, despite the fact that they love each other madly and are proud of themselves, still work in the same industry. And as individuals who are very creative, they need public acceptance. But that's the point. Whether Paul and Lucy will be able to find a way out or not, you can only find out after watching My Geisha.
I really hope that this cute masterpiece will make you look into yourself, as well as the inner world of your companion. We break away from social networks, learn to speak frankly with each other.
