How three pensioners decided to shake the old days. In the official summary, as always, everything is confused and incorrectly described. Ravi was almost a pimp, and that's not true at all! Let me briefly describe the story.
When the uncles 60+ at home to sit bored, the children have grown up, life stings, and the soul still craves love adventures – that’s where the demon begins to poke a trident in the ribs. Three old friends, Om Prakash Chowdhury (Ashok Kumar), Inder Sen (A.K. Hangal) and Jagdish Bhai (Utpal Dutt), decided to leave Bombay and the family for a while somewhere to the resort and have fun. So that none of the household members will know the true essence of their idea, Chowdhury asks his son Anil to find them a driver for the trip. He said he sent his own on vacation. And Anil offers this job to his friend Ravi (Mithun Chakraborty), who was just going to go to Goa to his beloved girl Anita (Rati Agnihotri). And everything would be fine if the old lovers did not put their eyes on Anita when they saw her. They don't know about Ravi and Anita's relationship, which only complicates things: Ravi really needs money and therefore he can not reveal himself, but the behavior of old women does not please him.
There’s a 2014 film of the same name with Akshay Kumar, and I thought it was just a coincidence. But no, obviously, the new "Fans" (that's how the original title translates) is a remake of an old Chakraborty movie. And I notice that I did not like the new version at all. There was something vulgar and uninteresting, which was not mitigated by the periodic appearance of Akshay Kumar in the frame. However, I plan to review that remake, in case my opinion now changes. But the classic movie went much better for me. Though it seems like the meaning here is the same: three anxious old men and one girl. But in this film it does not look so vulgar, rather, as a ridiculous adventure of pensioners.
The trick of youth against reckless old age. This is like a way through film history to once again show from the outside how ridiculous old, frail ladies look in amorous intrigues with young hurias. They should think about the soul, as they say, and they too! Some will say that love is subject to all ages. But this is not about love in the sublime sense, but about carnal self-affirmations. And how naive to think that a young girl can seriously fall in love with her grandfather! I personally don't believe that.
Quite a funny story, instructive and with a good ending. It was beautifully shot, without playfulness or any nonsense. The actors are amazing, with their roles coped perfectly. Old people do not cause any indignation or antipathy, on the contrary - quite funny. The hero of Chakraborty is not a cool commando or a pop superstar, but an ordinary guy who works part-time while looking for a permanent job. And Anita performed by Agnihotri is not just a beautiful appendix to the main character, but an independent character, a reasonable girl who adequately relates to the elderly.
I definitely recommend watching this movie. An explosion of emotions is not guaranteed, but rest for the soul will be for sure.
