Go to the gym and look at the people who work there. You might be surprised, but most of them are pretty. They feel the desire to become even more beautiful, to approach the ideal.
You probably don’t know that sports are addictive. A lot of people, like Julie and Steve, need to work out. Now there is even talk of the existence of such a disorder as “exercise dependence”. Some even on vacation can not feel comfortable if not engaged. The body requires a load. It's hormone-related. With heavy loads, many hormones are produced necessary for health and preservation of youth. In addition, they have a very beneficial effect on the psyche.
I think one of the main ideas of the film is that guys and girls who are passionate about sports are happier than others. They are easier to cope with stress and trouble, with melancholy and depression.
Steve (played by multiple champion Mitchell Gaylord) has decided to come back and prove what he can do. It may not immediately succeed, but over time it is noticeable how he is closer and closer to success. It looks amazing here, I really liked it.
Julie is the brightest image, the actress perfectly coped with the role. It turns out that this rather tall girl performed most of the elements herself, without doubles.
In its own realistic story of Becca, who reminded me of the heroine of “Doll”. Both there and there was an injury, and only at the cost of incredible efforts the athlete managed to finish the performance.
I'm in Julie's process, and I love her transformation. She brings some energy to people, and not just standing, running, jumping. For those actors who can’t (can’t) just stand up, maybe it’s already cool. Most often in films about sports, gymnastics girls do not always know how to present themselves correctly. She got up, bounced off, now the other way, that's it. What did she mean by that? And here was the idea, there was a well-thought-out image. Speaking, for example, Julie didn't just put on a sports swimsuit sticky and went to something just to jump - it's stupid, it's boring and it's not hers. In her gymnastics and creativity, and the moment of self-discovery, and some acting moment is present.
But ordinary people, as a rule, do not explain this, so everyone thinks that if you are an athlete, you will become so unfeminine, pumped... Although in life these girls look very beautiful. And as a rule, this is what men dream of, not overdried wobbles. So don't confuse competitive uniforms with how these girls look in a non-competitive period. They're gorgeous. Of course, those who initially have good data – the easier.
I believe that any person who does something well, just everyone has their own standards of beauty, and the athletes in the film are good at pursuing their goal and achieving it.
