Diamonds. "Vandom Square" is a European cinema, in which there is a deep drama and crime. The main role is played by French film actress Catherine Deneuve, and this film is based on her. Filmed purely in European, cold style, and fans of American films, this drama may not like. Personally, I love European cinema. It always has an unusual atmosphere, which is not in American cinema. The French are good at making dramas and I love their films.
We see a woman who has become a widow, is being treated for alcoholism and has long lost her taste for life. After the death of her husband, she finds very expensive diamonds, and here begins the story of this film and the disclosure of secrets that will give a taste of the life of this heroine, and she will feel that she still lives.
For this role Deneuve received the Volpi Cup, and this award in Europe is considered very honorable. Catherine Deneuve in this film plays very talented and convinced. There is so much pain and sadness in her eyes, and I really liked her in this movie. This actress is always very good in the role and can play absolutely any role, but I love when they play dramatic roles, because then we see all her acting potential. Actor Jacques Dutron is a lover of controversial and challenging roles, and it was a pleasure to see him and Deneuve on screen together again after twenty years. Emmanuel Segnier is interesting and has always been a mysterious actress to me. It has some mystery and charm.
This film balances between the possibility to start living again and the secrets that emerge only after a person dies. The movie is unusual and complicated. I loved this film, but it makes it so subtle and memorable, of course, Catherine Deneuve. “Vandom Square” is a drama that carries deep thinking and crime, and thanks to the director Nicole Garcia and the French actress Catherine Deneuve, this movie turned out to be an interesting and strong, worthwhile creation of European cinema.
