I'm here. Sel. I won. A completely unremarkable movie, which, however, leaves behind a barely noticeable, barely perceptible sense of belonging, with which you do not want to part.
The film has a warm lamp atmosphere of a quiet town, in which everyone is familiar with each other, fences between houses are no higher than half a meter and have a purely decorative function, and in general, despite the gossip and washing by some neighbors of the eccentricities of others, everything is discussed completely harmlessly and creates a certain conviction that residents, one way or another, are related to each other, from which it becomes even more cozy and comfortable.
In the center of the plot, yesterday’s schoolboy Peter, like a giant wave that arose in absolute calm, covered with a sudden and irresistible feeling of love for his neighbor Erica, who also graduated from school and very soon plans to leave the cradle of a carefree childhood, going to university. As usual, the sympathies of the guy are completely unrequited, since the girl already has a boyfriend. But Peter is not alone at all, he will be helped by his crazy grandfather, who told how girls were won in their family, and with his wild antics at the most critical moments, switching attention to himself, as well as a disgusting friend who gives indigestible advice, telling and showing with all his example about the absence of such a need in the opposite field for a happy life. And the rest of the surrounding unwittingly become witnesses and participants unfolding behind their windows story. Eric is waiting for three unforgettable months of summer vacation, in which Peter will try to get mutual love from her.
The film has little in common with American Pie, where the characters committed acts that were difficult for them to decide. On the contrary, here the main character tries to achieve the love of the girl by remaining himself, showing his best qualities.
I probably will not dare to advise you to watch Eight Days a Week, since it does not stand out in any way, in addition, it is not in the Russian translation.
But there is something in the film that reminds of the warm summer holidays in that very childhood.
And Keri Russell is amazing!
