Camorra doesn't forgive Cinematography legend Francesco Rosi shot a drama with criminal overtones, now dated back to 1958, about a man for whom the thirst for money and personal benefits and ambitions become paramount. He stops at nothing, goes to deceive his patron from the Neapolitan mafia, which, as everyone knows, does not forgive.
F. Rosie told us the story of Vito Polar, a young but ambitious man. He is not satisfied with the money he earns with his small business. He takes a big loan and later makes a deal with Don, the godfather of the Neapolitan mafia. Things go uphill, he becomes very rich.
Before the eyes of the viewer shows all the drama of the rise of Vito Polar and his actions, which will ultimately lead him to the brink of death. The director vividly and clearly draws before us the changing appearance of a person, like a good one, who embarked on the path of wealth and luxury, a path that will change his life orientations and views. Shows a man who in the pursuit of wealth lost his life and the greatest human feeling - love. Money became for him higher than this noble and sincere feeling.
The picture is full of bright images, all the characters look interesting. A small Italian town, azure coast of the sea, people with their manners and deeds, hurricane Italian speech, poor and meager life. All this is shown by the operator Gianni Di Venazo carefully and carefully. Visually, this black is a white picture for me perfect.
Rosanna Schiaffino as Assunta, first a friend, then the wife of Vito Polar looks very graceful. Each frame with its appearance looks with ecstasy and lust. Beautiful actress, at the time of filming which was only 19 years old. Deshimo Christiani as Don Salvatore Aiello is chic. Full image. Manners, voice, hard angular face and a minimum of emotions. A real don.
Now, after so many years, this picture is an incorruptible classic of world cinema. Colorful Italian painting by great master Francesco Rosi.
