Martha's mistake. Empty comedy. Not at all interesting, and most importantly not funny. Director Nick Castle made a sweet and stupid movie, which is full of playfulness and something far from reality. This is a comedy, but it turned out without a smile and even with some unpleasant residue. The idea of the film was comical, but all its charm slipped out of the hands of the director, and it turned out something slick and lame. It is not only the fault of the director, but also the actress who plays the main role.
Meet Martha. She is an independent American and lives her job. Her personal life did not work out, and the heroine is constantly under pressure from all sides, especially from her parents. Everyone wants her to find a boyfriend and get married. It so happened that Martha made a new acquaintance, but it will be a huge mistake for her, and soon Martha will have to explain why she opened fire in the church.
I wanted to see something light and funny in this comedy, but the falsity of what was happening was so strong that you watch the whole film strenuously, and when it ends, you want to quickly forget it. All the comic scenes, without exception, were played, the dialogue was licked and also fake. There was nothing good about this comedy, but only Joan Plawright's presence is possible. She is a pleasant and positive actress. The rest of the cast was unsuccessful.
Ellen DeGeneres is a famous American TV presenter, and countless famous personalities visited her studio. As a TV presenter, DeGeneres happened, and she is on top in this regard, but as an actress absolutely, absolutely not. The film is called If Walls Could Talk 2. There she played touching and funny with Sharon Stone, but her role was small, so she coped with it.
In the same notorious comedy, Ellen has the lead role, and frankly, she failed. DeGeneres played terribly fake, in almost every scene replayed. Her level of play was like kindergarten. You don't believe her, and it looked stupid. Her duet with Bill Pullman I would have given Gold Raspberry as the worst duet. In the background, Joan Cusack lit up, and she also replayed, and her role was stupid and empty.
This movie is on the list of those pictures that you can safely not watch. Comedy is unnecessary and empty, kills with its playfulness and banality of the plot. But the biggest disappointment is the performance of the main actress. It really sucked.
"Mr. Mistake" is an American, entertaining 1996 comedy and a silly and unnecessary movie to which I say NO. The picture is a failure, and it is not worthy of attention.
