A wonderful and touching story of a duet of pop performers, against the background of complex relationships of which their personal tragedies and the latest history of the United States unfold before us.
The film has no obvious weaknesses and is aimed at a family audience.
Its most important advantage is the successful choice of a duo of actors. Kaan and Middler look very good in the selected images.
In some places, the movie resembles "The English Patient", sometimes "Ginger and Fred" Fellini. This shows that it turned out to be a really interesting and touching film.
I was surprised to learn that the film didn’t win any big prizes. This film had everything to claim the title of best film of the year. I can say for sure that against the background of Bugsy, The Tide Lord and Thelma and Louise, he would have looked quite decent. It so happened that society in that year gave priority to the unexpected (for that time) "Silence of the Lambs" and "King the Fisherman".
