A childhood dream came true In 1997-1998, his father bought somewhere a videotape with the film Absolute Reality with David Bradley in the title role. Who remembers, on the back of the tape there was a description of the film, a couple of screenshots from the film, the cast of actors, writers, etc. And sometimes after the name of the actor in parentheses wrote a couple of films in which he starred. After the name of David Bradley, there were two films in parentheses - the more famous and already watched American Samurai and the completely unknown Cruel Justice. My goal was to see this movie no matter what. It's been years. I suddenly remembered about the film and, thanks to current technology, I found the film and watched it.
And before I write about the film, I will say one thing – this is the best film with David Bradley.
In the center of the plot, special agent Nick, who during the operation failed to save the girl-hostage, although he could. Nick blamed himself for her death. After a while, his friend died. The perpetrator of his death can be found in prison and Nick, having fabricated a case, goes to prison to avenge the death of a friend.
Militants about the prison filmed in the 90s a lot – this is a death warrant with Van Damme, and Locked up with Stallone, and engaged to death with Hauer, etc. Each in its own good, a death warrant is so generally a hit of its time, but Cruel Justice was somehow not very publicized, and if it were not for the inscription on the back of the tape, I would not know about it. Sorry. I wish I had seen this movie in the 90s. I'd see his holes. This is a great film than that resembling the notorious death warrant, but in its original.
Bradley played to the limit - and it turned out amazingly. Always considering David more of a fighter than an actor, I didn’t expect to see such a great movie. After the dreary sequels of American Ninja, which paled against the background of the first parts with Dudicoff, the failed and unnecessary American Ninja 5, the average American Samurai and the weak Blood Brothers, I did not expect such a hit from David.
The main feature of the film is a scene with a hostage, where Nick had to correct for a mistake made at the beginning of the film. Well, of course, combat scenes, of which there is a sufficient number in the film. The plot is not new, but in the 90s it was not particularly important - the main thing is that the main character waved his legs well.
Now, after all the Cobra Throws, Avatars and the Hunger Games, I watched Cruel Justice and was delighted, and what would I feel in the 90s? When, as a young man, I watched all the available action films on both TV and VHS tapes, I would probably go crazy with happiness, and maybe I would react calmly enough. Just now, after a little tired of multimillion-dollar blockbusters, I wanted something like that from my childhood. Maybe it's a good thing I didn't see him in my own. I wouldn’t be so excited right now.
All fans of the Death Order, as well as all fans of “native” childhood fighters, must watch.
