And machines rose from the ashes of nuclear war. As a result of an unsuccessful government experiment, a killer robot falls into the past and in order to prevent a terrible tragedy, a young scientist goes after him, but his act rewrites history and, returning to 2073, Nicholas Sinclair finds that people are sick with some kind of virus, and robots have practically destroyed all of humanity. Well, comrade Sinclair, shall we correct the mess we've made? Cheers? Well done!
Movies in which "correct" the present by changing the past came out quite a lot. Here and the masterpiece trilogy “Back to the Future” and the dilogy about “The Terminator” and even the funny Soviet cartoon “On the Back Desk”. This picture unfortunately does not want to joke and tries to seem serious work, which in fact is its main mistake, because if the creators decided to remove a parody or just a comedy about time travel, this movie could become quite famous and who knows, maybe even cult. But, having taken their heads off, they don’t cry in their hair, so let’s see what this movie can please us and what it can’t.
For starters, plot. The writers tried to approach their work with all their inherent seriousness and added to the picture how the unfortunate people who have already survived the Roboapocalypse are also a virus that ... stop, and what does it actually do? The viewer is informed only that people have an indicator and the red color indicates that they are sick, but the symptoms of this disease are forgotten to inform us. I wish it was a minor detail, no. After all, the whole plot of the picture is built on this disease! On it, as well as on robots that kill both infected people and quite ordinary people, tracking the latter according to the state indicator. Um, did you guys think about reprogramming those indicators to mislead the robots? Maybe that would solve most of your problems, huh? As for robots, it is absolutely incomprehensible to me how they were able to destroy most of humanity, if these so-called “intelligent machines” manage to miss a rocket launcher at a person standing in a narrow corridor. About the battle in open spaces of speech and does not go, as missiles fly anywhere, but not at living people. And how did we manage to lose them?
As for the actors, they clearly lack stars from the sky. Emotions on their faces seem strained, and the characters are worked out too superficially and in general, the characters of this film do not cause absolutely any feelings, which is possible even for the better.
But with the visual part, everything in general looks good, albeit without a highlight. Robot costumes look good even now, and what can we say about the distant ninety-fourth, where this could cause only the most positive emotions. Also in the picture just a huge number of explosions and shooting, which even go mostly to milk, but in general it gives the film a move and does not allow the viewer to turn off the film in the middle of viewing. A special thank you to the operator, who coped well with his work, which is a rarity for projects of this level.
Summing up, I want to say that despite all its shortcomings, as well as flaws in the script, the film is quite watchable and may even please not particularly demanding viewer, the main thing is to remember that you have a picture of category “b”, and therefore miracles do not have to wait.
