Roseanne's grave Imagine a tiny Italian town, crooked streets, running down, then climbing up, houses standing so close that the neighbors have almost no secrets from each other. All citizens know each other by name, and any small affair immediately becomes public. Children are rarely born here, and old people die even less often. The local cemetery, neat and well-groomed, for more than one century fits on a tiny piece of land owned by the city hall. And sooner or later, this land had to run out because it's not rubber. This is exactly what happened in the days when Roseanne, the beloved wife of the respected Señor Marcello, became seriously ill. She has long been ready to go to another world, but... Week after week, and she is quite herself alive, cheerful and energetic, and there are only three places in the cemetery.
This is where our story begins. A story in which, according to the original Italian recipe, touching love is mixed with years of envy, where hilarious adventures will be peppered with peas of sharp black humor, and for dessert the viewer will be served a piquant national variation on the theme “Arsenic and old lace”. The chef of all this charming ugliness was the director Paul Weyland, familiar to us from the series about Mr. Bean.
And the main nail of the program is Jean Reno, who is not the first to be in the epicenter of criminal events. Here, these very events will be as many per square meter of the urban area, and precious vacant places in the cemetery will disappear as rapidly as ever in the history of the city.
Jean Reno... His broken nose and absolutely non-standard by all standards the beauty of the muzzle is exactly what you will either fall in love with once and for a lifetime, or you will not be able to get used to this, as if with an axe carved, face never. I have personally been in love for a long time, since the times of the harsh “Leon”, the gnawing “Wasabi” and the bloodthirsty “Crimson Rivers”. Renault for me personally is the embodiment of true male brutality, for a long time he was in my view a kind of European superhero, powerful, uncompromising and dangerous.
In the same story I saw him completely different - in love, slightly ridiculous, confused, smart, funny ... At some point, I wanted to pat him on the head, and then slap him like a boy who had groped. What he did here is just incomprehensible to the mind! With what excitement his hero got out of the most Naidurak positions!
I must say that the creators did not stint on crazy situations. You can only applaud their fantasies, because to come up with and implement such a delicious cocktail of tender emotions, black humor, dramatic experiences, sudden tears and cheerful drive - this is not given to everyone. What are the night misadventures of the protagonist and his morning enchanting excuses in front of the police! And the final twist under the knock of the train made you just fall into the sediment and grunt with pleasure.
In general, it must be admitted that the obvious contrast between not the most life-affirming name and a very juicy optimistic filling hooked the soul. The chef turned out a really beautiful European dish, with its original Mediterranean flavor, spicy, bright, with a long pleasant aftertaste, because even two months after tasting, when remembering the film somewhere in the heart, a pleasant warmth spills ... This is expensive.
It’s probably a good thing that the film isn’t well known to the public. This gives him a special charm, does not allow you to slide into consumer goods. I can honestly say I was lucky. And I'm very grateful for the recommendation of yunalove.
