A lost past. Part 39. Watch out for me! The film was very interesting and mysterious. Sometimes it seems that it lacks a bit of dynamics, but for this genre, perhaps, this is not the most important. Events proceed in an exciting way, constantly throwing us details for reflection. There are many mysteries that gradually lift the veil of mystery, telling us the sinister story of a sweet and friendly woman.
The film is quite stuffed with psychological elements, in fact, the main character is just a psychologist. But even without this, a lot of mental work was done, building logical rows and finding tricks in each other's psychology. Looking at all this is very exciting and entertaining, it is impossible to imagine how everything will turn out in the end and how this emotional and even in some way soulful picture will end. It’s not an action movie, as I had previously suggested, but rather a psychological thriller. Honestly, not my favorite genre, but recently I began to watch such a movie often.
I love characters that wouldn’t have worked without great actors. James Belushi, whom many remember mainly in comedy works, played a great role, the role of a simple guy, a former cop who has problems in the family, he succeeded. I won’t say it’s his best work, but I do know his films, where he fucked up, fooled around, even though it wasn’t a comedy at all. But no matter what, and all the acting laurels go to the beauty Linda Hamilton. The famous Sarah Connor, whom she is mostly remembered, gave out a real solo concert, playing the role (to what extent even two roles) with a shine, a flash in her eyes. I haven't seen many movies with her, but I haven't seen one in her play. Remember the same Children of corn (with a discount on the genre): mediocre play, not always correctly conveyed emotions and a bunch of other complaints. In the same tape, she performed the role stunningly, and I would also pick up the word enthusiastically, as if just high from my own game. Aerobatics!
The atmosphere of the film is very strong, this constant tension, misunderstanding of what is happening and just a feeling of quality cinema and climb through the screen. I didn’t expect anything from the movie. And there was a wonderful dramatic story! By the way, what is more important, I liked the disclosure of the characters, we literally put their fates, their pain, experiences, feelings. Great work of writers who wrote off the characters of the film from real people.
The film does not last, as it happens in a number of similar tapes. There is an intrigue that arises almost at the very beginning, and right up to the very end we are systematically told this story, without attributing anything unnecessary, supplementing the picture with details, from which the understanding of the characters becomes more touching. The smooth plot perfectly harmonizes with the finale, which was not dashing, it is difficult to even call it bright, but in the course of the film, as the answers to many questions were thinly and to some extent awkwardly opened, I was waiting for something similar. And the fact that each segment of the picture is put on the same level, as a result of which it is almost impossible to single out one or another fragment as the most interesting segment of the film.
I definitely recommend watching it! This fascinating psychological thriller should appeal to connoisseurs of the genre, and given that it was shot in the 90s, and looks still very strong and exciting, does an honor to both the director and the entire film as a whole!
