“La Derobade” is a film based on the novel of the same name by Jeanne Cordelier, which at one time received great recognition, translated into 17 languages of the world and is still very famous among the French.
The story of a girl, due to life circumstances and weakness, who became a prostitute and after a while wanted to end it. Before us there is a big city, with its streets, bars and other places where the “night butterflies” flutter. The desire to take control of your body and mind is the main problem of the story.
The main role is played by the wonderful Miu-Miu, which in general is the burden of pulling this film from the average to the good. In support of her are the director Daniel Duvall in the role of a nasty pimp with sadistic habits, which for the time being is in love with the main character and girlfriend by profession – enigmatic Maria Schneider.
The tape is definitely a delicacy for gourmets of French cinema: it has enough realism, the atmosphere of the 70s and ... strangely enough poetry. It is easy to watch, it is not shot without a certain professionalism, with good music and seems completely ageless.
The story with a proper dose of piquancy and cruelty may well compete with modern films about “call girls” and please not only fans of Miu-Miu, but also the audience who accidentally attacked this film.
