What happens if you take John Carpenter’s classic The Thing, combine it with Ridley Scott’s even more classic Alien, add all the imaginable and unthinkable stamps of all the monster horror films that have ever existed, then simplify it to about the level of a senior kindergarten group, invite a group of talentless graduates of a third-rate acting school and start shooting with a budget quite comparable to the budget of a New Year’s Eve. That’s right, it will turn out another masterpiece from Roger Corman and the company with the intriguing name “Alien Inside” (also known under another, no less fascinating – “Unknown Organism” / “Unknown Origin”).
They found something here.
So, instead of an Arctic station, there is a kind of deep-water mine where it is not clear what is mined, instead of the Norwegians, there are Russians, and instead of a snowstorm, there is a strong storm on the surface, of course, which makes it impossible to send aid in time. All the rest literally to the degree of confusion coincides with either “Something” or “Alien”, that is, in general, there is not a single detail, not a single nuance and plot twist that brings at least something new and original. Even the mysterious alien organism itself, which has been lying on the bottom of the ocean for millions of years, is strikingly similar to the little xenomorph from Alien, at the stage of development when it just leaves the host body. However, to the credit of the filmmakers, it should be noted that they do not think to claim originality, and constantly note the absolute secondaryity of their creation - the apotheosis of this is the scene when one of the infected crew members enters into the computer a secret code and this code - NOSTROMO!!!
In short, the film will be appreciated only by those who are attracted by the very spirit and atmosphere of cheap thrash horror films in the spirit of Corman and followers, who are not afraid of rubber special effects and poor action taking place in three small pavilions. But, if all this does not irritate you, moreover, do not get tired of the classic cliches, when the heroes, shaking with horror, wander through the dark transitions in search of some terrible alien creature, then at least just get acquainted with this picture is definitely worth it!
