What was the best thing about the NBA?

I got to know these movies about 20 years ago. In the 90s, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neill and other legendary players were at the peak of popularity, so it is not surprising that basketball movies were released quite often. But, closer to the millennium, this popularity has come to naught, which greatly affected the genre of sports films. However, a couple of projects, including about basketball, no, no, and will come out. Some sequels of the family movie “King of the Air” how many turned out. However, among all the projects, the film “Like Mike” stands out.
Calvin is a teenager living in an orphanage. He loves basketball and dreams of playing professionally. One day, among the old things, he finds sneakers bearing the mysterious initials M.J. During a dispute to whom they will belong, these sneakers accidentally get an electric discharge, which gives them magical power, and the owner makes a superplayer equal to Michael Jordan.
I loved the movie 20 years ago and I still do. Such projects are rarely removed, so they are worth their weight in gold. And to see in the movies of sports stars and generally something from the category “happens once in ten years”. In the same film, several points converged at once - basketball, NBA players, as well as an interesting, albeit slightly fabulous, story. Let's get started.
"Like Mike" doesn't fall into any exact category. There's so much stuff in there that my eyes run out. There is fantasy, comedy, and drama, and of course, do not forget that first of all this is a sports film. And the script is written very skillfully, keeping the balance of all these genres. Although, personally, it seemed to me that by the end of the story went more into drama.
The plot develops very quickly, almost without any swing. Only 15 minutes are allocated for the prologue and initiation, all the rest of the time you can watch the story of a funny teenager develop. About two-thirds of the film is comedic, although I wouldn’t call it comedy. Well, the final can be predicted in the middle, so I was a little disappointed.
About the comedy component of the film here all the ambiguous humor and funny scenes are present, and quite a lot, but are they funny? Maybe it was funny at the beginning of the zeros, but now it seems childish. I usually see this kind of humor in Disney family movies. But I think it will make a lot of people smile.
Another huge plus is the soundtrack. Shad Moss, better known as Bow Wow, began his musical career at an early age. Naturally, he could not pass the film with his participation and recorded a bomb sound, perfectly suited both in style and mood of this film.
And a few words about the cast. The main role in the film was played by the same Shad Moss. He doesn’t have a lot of movies, but the ones are pretty good. Most of all, he is known to film fans for the role of Twinkey in the Furious franchise. In acting, he is far from being praised, but it is clear that he is trying as best he can. Another major role was played by Morris Chestenath. Before viewing his page, for some reason I thought he was a real basketball player, but he turned out to be an actor, although little known. For me personally, he turned out to be the best of all castes, because he showed a very convincing acting and even managed to surprise me with how he conveyed the character of his character.
It is recommended to watch.
