A chic comedy with a healthy dose of black humor, which is very harmoniously combined with good-natured humor.
Atypical scenario, which from a very unusual and free side reveals male friendship, but at the same time - American male friendship.
Simple, familiar, but at the same time emotional play of Adam Sandler, as always, on the level. And it doesn’t replay, but each scene works out exactly as it should. Separately, I will highlight a scene about the first meeting with a beautiful lawyer (Jessica Beale).
Kevin James wasn't fully revealed. Either his character is less emotional, or in this film his face could not adequately express emotions.
As for the shooting - here it was not necessary to try: this is a simple comedy that does not require complex angles and long editing. However, the dynamic, as if amateur shooting of the wedding brought its entourage.
The film itself is very bright, colorful, colors are warm, tunes to the positive. However, even through this positive was carried the most important thought - the power of male friendship, which can overcome all prejudices, principles, laws, habits and principles.
The film is very humane, tolerant, but sex minorities in it are shown not as something sublime, or vice versa derogatory, but as people with their feelings, simple desires and the ability to defend their rights.
In general, if you are homophobic, you will not be disgusted by watching a film, because in some moments the habits and stereotypes of same-sex unions are ridiculed, and in some places they are sanely defended.
Laugh from the heart, the humor is very kind and typical of comedies with Sandler. Probably because of the director, who has worked with the actor many times.
Comedian Adam Sandler and director Dennis Dugan are not new acquaintances. Back in the 90s of the last century, Dugan shot two films with Sandler: “Lucky Gilmore” and “Big Dad”, which, in general, came out quite excellent comedies. Since 2007, Dugan has only made films with Sandler present. This is a peculiar tandem that emerged.
But if this is not the first time Dugan has collaborated with Sandler, then the script was written entirely by new people for both masters of cinema. It is worth highlighting another tandem, previously already working hand in hand, consisting of Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor, who received a joint Oscar for the best adapted script of the film “On the curb”. But the film “Chuck and Larry: Fire Wedding” made it clear that the comedy, as a genre, is not quite suitable for this couple, and the reason even for this conclusion may be the fact that the entire quartet (except for Payne and Taylor, Barry Fanaro and Lew Gallo were added to its writing) was nominated for the anti-award “Golden Raspberry”.
It rarely happens that there is agreement with the awardees of the Golden Raspberry, but in this case you can agree. The fact is that even in the era of the dominance of Hollywood cinema with total political correctness, the story about two pseudo-homosexuals did not look funny, as it happens in the tapes with Sandler and another comedian Kevin James, but rather stupid. If it was a hidden hint, a kind of parody of the very unfortunate political correctness about sexual minorities, then the film clearly lacked certainty, the quality of jokes, it is good that they did not forget about morality, where we are convinced that there is real friendship and love, or otherwise everything would be sweet and rash.
The filmmakers could even close their eyes to the plot basis, which looked not pretentious, but with a great deal of stupidity, if another tandem, this time screen, could pull the tape to the proper level. No, of course, the greasy jokes from Sandler and James have not become openly vulgar and stupid, they still have enough humor to amuse, it’s a pity that it becomes more and more difficult to make the audience laugh, since both actors have stalled at the same level and a step forward is not visible until they can do it. Yes, they look great on the screen, they manage to easily demonstrate friendship, but it also becomes intrusive and, unfortunately, template. But I would like to praise Jessica Biel, who in any film where she plays, proves that she is a very strong actress with a multifaceted talent. Here and here she famously shows what a kind girl can be, how such can be easily deceived, but many would like to see such a long-term passion.
If you are in a mood, you should not watch this picture, otherwise the comical nature of the situation can cause skepticism and rejection. It is better to watch the film when the mood is calm, to refuel it with a small amount of positivity. This is not the best, far from the best comedy with Adam Sandler, but it is bright and funny, and in the foreground are two beloved comedians.

I didn’t expect much from Chuck and Larry. I’m used to nothing super interesting from comedies with Adam Sandler not to expect, not to be disappointed once again. In his filmography, there are only a couple of films that I liked. “Chuck and Larry” is not on this list.
The director is Dennis Dugan, who I associate primarily with stupid comedies, not with good directing. This film is not a pleasant exception. Vulgar, flat, stupid. These words best describe this picture. 8 nominations for “Golden Raspberry”, including for the worst Director can confirm my words.
We are told the story of two straight friends who decide to get married in order to provide a secure future for the children of one of them. The idea, I think, is quite good, unlike the implementation. A huge concentration of vulgar jokes per minute of screen time spoils everything. I'm afraid the writers had the task of vulgarizing even the most ordinary dialogues. It doesn’t look funny.
Another huge disadvantage is the stereotyped characters. The Sandler woman who hangs herself on, why? No reason. He's "Mr. February." Even the characters of Larry’s children are made to become a movie: a girl who loves sports, such a tomboy in a skirt and a boy who dances, sings and dreams of participating in musicals. From extreme to extreme.
It was strange for me to expect a comedy of this kind that deals with the subject of homosexuality, plus or minus the normal testimony of those same homosexual characters. It seems that the model of behavior for all gay characters was taken from jokes about “prativov”. Not only do they like to do this here. Of course, I will not deny the presence of Zhu Zhu butterflies, and perhaps not in small numbers in the LGBT community. I do not condemn this and I have nothing against the manneristically pretentious guys, but this community does not consist only of them. Even the stern firefighter, who was performed by Wing Rhames, confessing his orientation, begins dancing in the common soul and acquires female habits.
If we talk about the pluses, then with a big bang I can record acting in them.
It is not hard to guess that Adam Sandler is far from my ideal actor. But that's mostly because of the projects he's involved in, not because of his play per se. He may not have played perfectly, but it is quite tolerable, if you do not pay attention to how flawed and unfinished his character is. The same can be said about his partner in the film, Kevin James.
I like to be nice to talented children, even if they do not continue to play after childhood roles. At the same time, the children showed the most incompetent game. But it seems silly to cling to them, all the same children.
Jessica Biel pleased the eye, a very beautiful girl. But she did not succeed in a particularly interesting character and she seemed to cope well, but, again, she does not pull well.
The advantages include a short, but memorable appearance Bushemi. He has such a character type.
“Chuck and Larry: Fire Wedding” is a stupid comedy in which you can get 5 good jokes for the entire film. Personally, I'm sorry for the time spent watching, but if you like this kind of comedy (after all, they have their fans), then you'll probably like Chuck and Larry.

She began to watch without much enthusiasm, choosing only thanks to the combination of “Adam Sandler + comedy, which has not yet seen”. And two hours in the same breath.
A very kind comedy, an unusual plot and chicly combined themes of friendship and homosexuality.
I really liked how all the moments of discrimination against homosexuals are played out, which can not be seen even in all “thematic films”. And real male friendship is so bright, cheerful and colorful show infrequently.
Conclusion: if you are over thirteen, you are calm about profanity and you are not homophobic, then the movie is worth watching!
A comedy with a seemingly stupid plot. Two firemen, partners, masters of their craft and just two good friends decide to get married. I'll explain why. It’s just that one of them has a wife who has died, and he wants the pension money to go to the account of his children (since the job of a fireman is very dangerous, and who knows, Dad can die at any moment). But the American authorities, as always, are lenient and the hero has to enter into a fictitious marriage with his best friend, so that the money goes to the account of the latter, which will be further history.
You feel the attitude of the main characters, the warmth and real male friendship, which helps them out at the ' game in gays' Moreover, the reaction of secondary characters is understandable, they avoid the main characters and prefer not to enter into conversation with them.
Moreover, Chuck and Larry are complete opposites, which adds to the sharpness of the plot. Larry is an exemplary family man, the father of two charming children. Chuck is, as he put it in the film, a whore (which is roughly said), and is even afraid to think about real family relationships. But they are both good friends and will do anything for each other.
The end, sadly enough, is pretty predictable. However, I believed in a different beginning, but here comes my evil nature.
And how long and loudly I laughed when I found out that cute Chinese in the wedding salon for gays played Rob Schneider, this reincarnation!
It is impossible to say that the film is for the whole family. I think that's the limit of 16+. It's just saturated with American humor, which is disappointing. Such warm comedies, in my opinion, should be limited to such chips.
If the sharpener had a skirt, I'd hide it from you!
Another great comedy from Sandler. Well, boy, you give, to keep such a bar - "I" is better. In his usual style, with a solid dose of vulgarity and banality, but how does this egg-headed Jewish kid play! I love him. To laugh like I laughed, I wish everyone, seriously! From the next room, the people pulled up and with a conspiratorial appearance asked: “What are you laughing at?”
Here’s what: My beloved Sandler and Kevin James are portrayed as a “family partnership,” a gay couple to deceive the authorities and save Larry’s pension for his two kids. Join me, join me, thank you again! And surrounded by Sandler his usual, already formed in recent years, a chic support group – Rob Schneider, Steve Buscemi, the fools from the “Longest Yard”, surprisingly comical Wing Rhimes, only John Turturro is missing. Oh, where are you, brother?
Kind, simple-minded bear Albert Brenneman from “Hitch” here is Larry, again an honest and good guy, a family man, a widower, a dashing firefighter and Chuck’s best friend, with whom they are very different in terms of lifestyle, but very similar in their filling. Chuck is just as dashing a fire extinguisher, but in life - a real whore. "According to a magazine poll, you had 16 women last year!" they accused and shamed Chuck. Larry gushed, "And 500 more who couldn't read or write." Chuck has a perpetual flesh call, he has everyone in a row, is not particularly picky and prefers several girls at a time. And you have to give him credit for wanting at least some. Doctor Bunny. There's something about this guy, fact! And then his friend Larry offers him to portray gay friends. You certainly saved my life and all that, but you better let me die, bitch.
However, Chuck agrees, and the childish fun begins. At first, it was not easy for guys to portray strong male love, especially hard for the whore Chuck, besides, a beautiful lawyer suddenly appeared on the horizon, according to all laws, “the same one, and they lived soul to soul,” but Sandler’s hero, somehow, began to deal with the problem. And how to deal with it! When Chuck slapped Larry in the face of the altar, instead of kissing, “That’s how we do it in our family!” I just fell off. Is it okay if my laughter keeps the whole floor awake?
The high was, by the way, precisely in the fact that "I" is not easy Chuck was playing a homosexual. It was not in his nature, but he had to break himself out of love for his brother. And out of love for a pretty lawyer, too. Because she made sure that with Chuck they are girlfriends-not-drink-water, and you can trust him with all women's secrets. But it did, and that's understandable. Who wouldn’t be bothered?
The situation, by the way, reminded me of “Tootsy” with Hoffman and Lang, where Dustin went a little further, literally pretending to be a woman, and in the end – op-pa!” You've already learned to trust me, we've become friends, so doesn't it benefit from being a man? Rhetorical question. How many answers are there?
The topic of homosexuality at first slightly alarmed me - and it was possible to vulgarize everything one or two, and damage the male reputation of the beloved actor, too. Just recently, Sandler changed his role, from a romantic reborn into a sexy animal, a tough guy and a mega-man, and then he, what a good thing, will be made into a sex minority! Hold on, Chuck, don't give up! Especially at the end, when both friends were limp under cover (emotionally!), settled down, humanized, and sympathized with gays, I was afraid that Chuck and Larry would last for the sake of political correctness and – nay, the lava is colorless. Don't, please! No wonder Jessica Biel, as opposed to blue, flaunted before Chuck in underwear! That's right, kid, get a sweater, cover up. Better two. All is not lost yet.
Bottom line: great comedy. Funny, vulgar, but true values, without anthem which can not do any film Sandler, once again competently balanced vulgarity and soulfulness. Despite the change in role, in my eyes Sandler “with his affectionate look” managed to retain the same old-fashioned romanticism that I always loved in him. Just now this romanticism is buried a little deeper, and to dig up, you need a decent mamsel and a drop of time.
After Chuck’s heartfelt phrase, “When you meet that person, you don’t want to be a depraved cable next to them.” Everything I have, I would give it to him, I recognized old Adam, and it was pleasantly warm in my chest. You're a romantic, dog! How not to love you? And the actor is great. The Creator’s kiss was long and French. Look, people. You'll love this movie.
