One of the forgotten Soviet cartoons Suze was seriously ill and died.

Indeed, Welch’s Cat, which cost $110 million (!!!) at the 2003 exchange rate, was one of the biggest failures in the history of American animated filmmaking, according to critics’ estimates. The reason, of course, is not that Seuss’s works were not known abroad – after all, he failed in the American box office in the same way. Just a failed film is a failed film, and ignorance of American Chukovsky in other countries has nothing to do with it.
Therefore, when I found out about the existence of our Soviet film adaptation of “The Cat in the Hat” called “The Cat in the Hat”, I was pretty surprised (just wasn’t aware of the presence of our adaptations of Sues) immediately included the cartoon for viewing and, although not a child for a long time, got pleasure from watching. There is a share of healthy absurdity in this cartoon, which distinguishes many masterpieces of Soviet animation - from "The Box with Pencils" to "Nehochoucha". And although it is impossible to call the masterpiece “The Cat in the Hood”, this film is definitely worth recommending to children. A cheerful cat struggling with gray boredom in the face of rainy weather, waking up in children a fantasy when there is nothing to go outside, and next to only a murderously boring fish - isn't it great? By the way, this fish stretched a bridge from Suze to Chukovsky, who in the book “From two to five” featured absolutely unimaginative child, at the mention of sharks exclaimed “Sharks do not happen!” (as Chukovsky noted, for such “Nothing surprising in the world does not happen, but there is only bread and cabbage, and boots, and rubles”).
The image of the cat resembled a similar “minimish” image from the cartoon “Do Re Mi”, but after searching the Internet it turned out that cartoons were shot at different studios and different directors. This is just a coincidence.
Why has this cartoon faded into oblivion, has never been shown on TV, and even on the Kinopoisk, there has been no review of it so far? I have one explanation – the film is not in demand, because our children’s place was occupied by Chukovsky. Accordingly, for all their quality, those rare adaptations of Sues, which took place in the USSR, could not withstand competition with Chukovsky’s film adaptations. And it should be noted that most of the approving comments on this cartoon on Youtube were left by residents of other countries. From the memory of the Soviet audience cheerful cat Suze erased without a trace.
