Run, Mars, run! The fifth part of the franchise “Cossacks” was released in 1978, and, most likely, even then, the influence of the upcoming Olympics was felt, so the beloved trio – strongman, verzila and dwarf – are sent to the real Olympus. And as we can see again, good "Cossacks" often become due to the wide geographical coverage in the plot. And also mythological.
If we take into account only Soviet cartoons, then perhaps the funniest Greco-Roman gods appear here. For some reason, the Thunderer is called Zeus, but the god of war is Mars. Since we are shown the formation of the Olympic Games, I dare assume that the authors relied more on Greece. However, the helmet of Mars is quite Roman. Like Zeus, this character is very comical, and if there are Cossacks in the plot, then you can prepare in advance for various joys.
There are many cartoons where heroes meet the gods. But for them to openly fight them, even if within the framework of pure sport, this is already a rarity. Appearing for the first and last time in the franchise, Mars becomes its unluckiest character. He constantly hits the mud with his face and flees. This is despite the fact that he has various technical problems such as binoculars and other achievements clearly not of the ancient era. Although Zeus's environment is not so ancient. The franchise, in general, has never hidden what is a parody, but here the director also shows that the characters exist as if out of time. And for the first time, we are shown the real world from above, so we can determine in which region of Ukraine the Cossacks live.
The third part is the best part. Or one of those. Watch it all, absolutely!
