Be careful with your desires. A fun adaptation of the story “The Truth About Pycraft”, which I saw even before reading the original source. The story, by the way, wrote Herbert Wells, which makes watching this cartoon especially interesting.
The main character is a pharmacist who keeps the secret of one effective but dangerous recipe. And, of course, a patient appears begging to share this secret with him. He has one big problem. Very big: overweight. Unfortunately, the cartoon departs a little from the original source and distorts the main morality, which is that you need to be careful with the formulation of your desires. However, the cartoon turned out to be even more fun than the original Wells.
Preserving the nineteenth century as a time of action, the cartoon shows us the beautiful streets of Victorian England and an early, very early aircraft, among other things. And of course, since the cartoon of Soviet production, the apothecary is voiced by Vasily Livanov - Sherlock Holmes of the communist world. In addition, the cartoon is dynamic, which is generally rare for Soviet animation.
A little upsetting only that “How to lose weight” created using puppet animation. It is relatively high quality, but still no doll will not replace a good drawing. True, the movements of the characters are smooth, for that respect. And camera flybys around the corners of buildings are also a curious find. I wonder how much the fat doll actually weighed? A little, I suppose.
Perhaps the cartoon deserves a positive assessment. But keep in mind that Wells' story is better.
