It's nothing but old school! Having watched a lot of fantastic films in your life, sometimes you think that you have seen, if not all, then all the most worthy for sure. The more pleasant it is to discover such little-known to the general viewer small masterpieces, like the film “Where did all people disappear?”. Director John Moxie, who specializes more in television series, in this case made a full-length film, although not for the big screen, but for TV. I’ve never been particularly embarrassed by films made for television. The budget of the film was clearly limited, because the money was essentially only aging and not the brightest star of the time in the person of Peter Graves. Graves, following the director, also came out of his usual comedy role, playing a serious dramatic role.
So, the plot of the film is quite simple: there is some natural cataclysm or an attack of some invisible enemy, which is accompanied by a bright flash, as a result, most of the population of the planet simply disappears, or falls ill with a mysterious disease that leads to death, and then to the disappearance of the body of the deceased. The main characters are a family consisting of a father, son and daughter, who are in a cave at the time of the disaster and possibly only survive. Having escaped from the cave and trying to understand what happened, Graves’ hero with his children does not give up hope that not only they survived, but also other people, including his wife, who left them a little earlier and went home. The plot is simple, but at the same time the action develops dynamically and the plot is addictive, the actors play at the level, the minimalism of the creators of “Where did all people disappear?” is expressed in the fact that the film has everything that should be and there is nothing superfluous. The finale of the picture remains open, which allows the viewer to draw the right conclusions and think about how everything in our world is shaky and unstable. Personally, I enjoyed watching this good old science fiction movie. Very often it happens that you do not expect much from the film, and he shoots, as in this case. To all fans of old-school fiction, I highly recommend “Where did all people go?”
