“A woman cannot cut her hair; after death she must wash her husband’s feet with it.” The first thing I want to say is I liked it. In my opinion, a great detective part, although filmed for television, but made on conscience. Personally, I was never able to name the killer, and the ending was unexpected, which is extremely rare in such films for TV. It is also worth noting, perhaps, one of the most important parts, because of which it is actually worth watching this film - the theme of Mormonism and polygamy, on which the whole plot is built.
So, Jordan was once kicked out of the family and now the young man leads a normal life until he stumbles upon an article in the newspaper telling about the murder of his father, and that his mother (she is also the nineteenth wife) is suspected of him. At the same time, one of the residents of the settlement, the wife of a local police officer, Queenie, who does not believe in the guilt of the woman, writes a letter to Jordan asking for help. The young man returns to the city and together with Queenie seeks the truth.
In fact, almost the entire investigation was conducted by Queenie, while reading a book about Anne Elise Young, the fugitive wife of Brigham Young, the second president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; Anne Eliza dedicated her life to exposing polygamy, getting to the U.S. Senate and General Grant himself. The girl finally becomes disillusioned with her faith and asks her husband, who does not want to take another wife, according to the covenant of his Prophet. But everything is not as simple as it may seem at first glance.
The acting, in my opinion, is not bad, the cast is selected for five plus. Sometimes, the story can be delayed. But how well shown are the feelings of a girl, from the present, from the past, who is disappointed in her faith and understands that it is impossible to live like this.
Again, I was surprised by the ending, as well as the discovery of the killer and the last episodes.
So I'm going to put a strong, confident
