Great Rekha, in a chic thriller. Yes, we have to finish with revisions of movies that have been watched for a long time, because of this, I have become less likely to come here and write. But there is nothing I can do with myself, as summer comes, so I am covered with a wave of revisions. For the second week, Mlei is revising old films of the 60s with Rajesh Khanna, Raj Kapoor and the young Dharmendra. I just can’t stand it, and of course I’ve already written reviews for all these films here. And well, only Indian cinema, so still nailed on the American, on my favorite Bruce Willis. During this week, I revised it (my favorite film) "Die Hard" (three parts), "Fifth Element" and even "Armageddon"
.
And all these revisions, of course, take a lot of time (but the pleasures are above the roof) and I do not have time to go here and write reviews for newly watched films that are on my list, and which I still “insert” into viewing between the old ones. Yesterday I watched one of these films, and today I still decided to write (until I sat down again for the Bryusov films).
About the film "Madame X" I learned only last year, and of course, seeing in the lead role Rekha, immediately recorded it to myself. Here she is the most chic, fatal beauty, insanely spectacular, in luxurious outfits from which breathtaking. It's just a real queen. Yes, she was the Queen - the Queen of the underworld, under the heel of an expensive boot on a graceful leg, which were all the authorities of Mumbai. And she calls herself Madame X. Her favorite expression is "I carry death, so my name is Madame X."
Rekha, one of the more elegant and spectacular heroines of Bollywood. And it seems that in this film she completely repeated the image from the film "The Thirst for Vengeance" (remake of the Australian film "Return to Eden"), where she became a supermodel, and a fatal beauty to take revenge on the men who threw her in the mouth of a crocodile. Here she has a similar image, only outfits are more spectacular, more expensive and more luxurious. You will never see every cape, hood, turban, epaulette or veil in her wardrobe that she would wear twice. Everything is worn only once.
When the viewer sees Madame X for the first time, she is in the process of stealing literally all the gold that belongs to all the criminal authorities in Mumbai, because she believes that she is the true owner of all this gold. She's been in this business long enough, and she's giving a lot of trouble to the police. And there comes a point when catching Madame X and putting her behind bars becomes an obsession of a police inspector Vijay (Mohsin Khan), who has devoted himself entirely to the matter. Vijay hopes to unravel a wider criminal network, neutralizing its leader, or rather gavrsha - Madame X
<.
When Vijay grabbed Madame X and chained her in some remote place, she howls like a wild beast. It was really scary to hear this howl and her terrible eyes at the same time. In the role of an absolute villain, without a drop of kindness and cordiality, I saw her for the first time. Rekha was irresistible here.
In general, the 90s in Indian cinema were not known as the age of restraint in Bollywood, and "Madam X" clearly demonstrates this, including an overabundance of musical numbers. But everything was more than appropriate. Music Anu Malik, here as can be convenient, the clips, although long, but very chic, from dancing Rekha the heart freezes. Though in the form of a notorious villain, but dances divinely. The songs are beautiful and fit the spirit of the film.
In general, in the film everything shines and sparkles, shimmers and glows. And when Rekha goes down the corridor in a luxurious outfit, in a brilliant cape, which shimmers from the sunlight falling on it, it's just a splendid one. From all this brilliance and overflows blinds your eyes, but it is impossible to break away from Rekha. The actors of secondary roles also pleased, especially Shakti Kapoor, in the role of a faithful assistant Madame X. And as he is good in the female image (when he changed into a woman), so I just have no words. And how he pulled and fastened her boots. You have to see that. And of course, Raza Murad is an adversary of Madame X, a mafia authority. Especially impressive are these eyebrows in the style "a la Brezhnev". Great.
The film was made in 1994, but little has changed since then. And the fight against evil is still relevant. And the theme of a unique hero, alone able to cope with a crowd of enemies, does not leave the minds of screenwriters until now. Especially the minds of Indian writers. Because the world has always believed and will believe that one day a great fighter for justice will come and save everyone from suffering.
Directed by Deepak Shivdasani (by the way, for the first time I meet his name) in his film made such an inspector Vijay, who fought not only for himself, but also for the salvation of the city's residents from the bandits Madam X. Typical character traits of a superhero. By the way, he shows the true features of an ideal Indian policeman, does not take bribes and does not go to any negotiations with bandits.
Of course, this film, some of the modern youth, after the action of digital quality or 3D, may not like, someone will not have enough special effects. But the classics of the genre are both classics to reflect the possibilities and trends of their era. Then, in 1994, it was a hit, containing enough crime scenes and heroism, for Indian cinema.
And now the movie is worth watching. A magnificent cast, an exciting adventure story and an opportunity to once again feel the atmosphere of Indian cinema of the 90s. Moreover, the film "Madame X" is little known to the Russian audience. And all fans of Rekhi will have something to see in this story.
