The year 1966. Boomerang from Poland A touching story about the novel of a young German and a Polish girl. Arriving in Wroclaw on the grave of his grandmother, the man met a charming blonde. But their romance is not destined to go into open intimacy - everyone around them does not recognize it. True, he is not guilty of anything, and he visits Auschwitz with horror. But that doesn’t change anything.
It is an unremarkable film in which the problem of hatred towards Germans among the Polish population is rather simple. The hero did not even take part in the war - he was a child.
Excessive social significance, I think, weakens this film, reducing its dramatic potential. In the aggregate, the film leaves the impression of simple straightforwardness. But it all depends on the director - if Roman Polanski or Andrzej Zulawski were sitting behind the director's chair, then, I am sure, cinema would become a significant film for its time.
A very successful role was played by Barbara Brylska - almost unmistakable work of a young actress.
In the end: The plot of the film is very interesting, and I think that if the film was shot by a more skillful director, then most likely the movie would have successfully "passed" through the main festivals of the world. The plot, as well as the participation of Barbara Brylska, was assumed. But, unfortunately, due to the very simple direction, many positive aspects of the plot are practically not disclosed.
