The animated short film “The Snowman and the Snow Dog”, released on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the famous painting “The Snowman”, did not gain the same popularity as its predecessor, which seems completely undeserved. The cartoon conquers its simplicity and elegance - fully drawn by hand, without the use of computer graphics, it makes an indelible impression and adds to the gray everyday life a pinch of the magic of Christmas night.

The story of the friendship of a boy and a snowman - partly kind, partly sad, but so touching - the heart of even the most callous person is sure to be filled with kindness and warmth. After all, each of us was a child who believed in miracles - in Santa Claus, in toys that come to life. And this child is still in each of us - sometimes we remember with sadness about childhood dreams and, although we do not admit it to ourselves, expect a miracle on New Year's Eve.

Of course, one of the undisputed highlights of the cartoon is its unusual visual representation - it is made in the style of the original work of Raymond Briggs in 1978 and painted with colored pencils. Just imagine how many drawings were made and how many pencils were spent! The cartoon is devoid of dialogue – they would simply be superfluous, because the magic happening on the other side of the screen is understandable and without words. The musical accompaniment is beyond praise - from the soundtrack, specially written for the picture, shudders, and the song "Andy Burrows - Light The Night" will sound in your head for a long time.

The duration of the cartoon is only 24 minutes, but in these 24 minutes you will visit the wonderland, which harmoniously combines magic, friendship, hopes and dreams - the dreams of a little boy about the Christmas miracle. It is good to watch in winter, wrapped in a blanket and with a cup of hot chocolate in your hand when the snow falls outside the window; or just when you need to believe in miracles.

The closer the New Year, the more you want to at least feel it, because growing up - the feeling of holiday evaporates. Therefore, every year wrapped in a blanket, drinking tea, there is a desire to see something that will convey the atmosphere of the holiday. This year’s animated film was The Snowman and the Snowdog, presented to us by British animators.

A story in which, in principle, nothing new, partly sad, partly kind, making us believe in miracles. She reminds us that we were all once children, and that even as we grow up, we should not forget about our dreams, because only by dreaming and realizing dreams in life we can visit here and there, attend a bunch of events, believe in a fairy tale. The cartoon very clearly shows the denouement, climax and setting of the so-called fairy tale with one big conclusion: “The fairy tale will not tell us goodbye, the fairy tale will say goodbye to you.”
In our twenty-first century, it was very nice to see not computer graphics, but drawn, or pastel, or pencil - this gives the cartoon a certain charm. Beautiful music and atmosphere.

For those who want miracles, kindness and a small dose of happiness, the cartoon is simply a must-see. As long as you believe in a story, it will always be with you. Be happy.
