Watchable and quite fascinating film that makes you remember Hitchcock’s variations on the themes of a random man in an unknown danger. Actually, the main length of the picture is the recreation of the situation of ignorance of the scout, the skin feeling danger and not understanding its source. After the introductory first series, by the end of which I was frankly bored, the second series leveled the intrigue afloat. The denouement, as usual, in such cases is of little interest, but here it is not without a feint. I mean the British opinion of the interests of the USSR in the initial period of the Second World War. Those who watched could not help but appreciate the stupidity of these ideas.
Anyway, and Le Carré became a watershed in the genre of spy novel - there is before, and there is after. "Unquiet" belongs to the tradition of do-, in which the emphasis is on finding a mole, dynamism, intrigue with exposure. In short, the plot suggests the presence of some kind of trick or unusual trick. Like Akunin in “Spy Novel” (and, accordingly, his terrible film adaptation) – the approach to the spy novel as an adventure detective.
“Troubled” is made with the involvement of women (mother and daughter), I believe, not the last reason to attract Rampling. A cheerful old woman plays just that cheerful old woman with the message of “hold it like this” – a signal to the target audience. Separate mention worthy of beautiful landscapes and interiors, good old cars and ladies' costumes. Hayley Atwell reminded me of Scarlett Johansson in this film. Michael Gambon was cast in a microscopic role for his past merits and name. The ending is not without some openness, leaving a hypothetical possibility of continuation, in which, right, there is no need.
