Andrey, can I stay longer this time? I watched this movie a long time ago. I will not hide, the appearance of a high-ranking male (Igor Mirkurbanov), who like a savage full, took a young woman dependent on him as his wife (Helena Dudin) - he won! However, I remember thinking: it is necessary to revise the film, since the “plownya” did not seem like a victim, but, on the contrary, gradually revealing herself, showed free will in making her decisions. And in her choice, under any circumstances, there was that measure of justice aimed at achieving the harmony of life (!), which seemed to be above love lust and above material gain, but their presence was felt in all sharp turns of the plot.
After the film “Hold Me by the Hand” (2017), he decided to flip through the filmography of the actress and got to the page of the film “The Power of the Heart” (2012) where he read a harsh review of the film by a supporter of foreign cinema. After that, I watched the film again slowly and became convinced that the film was generally criticized fairly, especially the script. But for those who are ready to immerse themselves in melodrama, this film is quite worth watching. The vicissitudes of personal circumstances in Mary’s life against the background of the main plot core – an unequal marriage – strangely show not only the strength of her heart, but also her special readiness to be with a man, to whom she did not seem to climb and bend, but simply wisely conceded in a woman’s way. And pregnancy after a rape, as if in a contrived way, and wealth from her husband, who understood the value of her business acumen, and conscience, after the death of her husband, seems to be clean, and the “father” – a friend of the heart – for the “native blood” fate sent...
And it is strange to believe this, especially when you understand the integrity of the true beauty sent down to this woman. Her wisdom is above cinematic clichés and therefore the viewer is hurt. Yes, Elena Dudina does not wring her hands and roll out her eyes, like the brilliant Vera Cold in the film Anna Karenina in 1914, but builds her happiness as he understands it. And fate favors her. Isn’t this the most important lesson and meaning of any melodrama, including the film “The Power of the Heart”?
