Tribute to Sanjeev Kumar. Last acting role. I finally waited for the voice of this film. Finally, it is available in full version on the Internet, and finally it can be viewed. This is the last role, the legendary actor of previous years Sanjiv Kumar. And that is not a finished role, because this film began to shoot in 1981, but the shooting was delayed for several years, and in 1985 died Sanjeev Kumar, by that time the film was completed only 75%. The producer of the film was in a difficult position.
One of the actors - Anant Mahadevan, for whom this film became the debut, by the time of the release of this film on the screens, has already become a famous actor. Padmini Kolhapure took a sabbatical after marriage, and returned to work a couple of years later. When filming of this film began in 1981, actor Shekhar Suman did not appear in films at that time, he began acting only in 1984. In this film, Shekhar Suman replaced Raj Babbar, who left because of downtime. And thus first appeared in the cinema. Amitabh Bachchan This film pays tribute to his colleague in many films Sanjiv Kumar, as the narrator of this story.
After the death of Sanjiva Kumar, the film was not finished for several years, and when Manmohan Desai saw the unfinished film, he proposed to make Sanjiva Kumar only an alleged character in the remaining parts, the characters only talk about him (although there is also a magical component, this is of course an interesting point). Work on the film was continued by another director. Accordingly, the storyline was changed and the film came out with a different storyline. Early insertions are also noticeable in places. Apparently removed at the very beginning of many moments with Sanjiv, and then, after the resumption of filming, simply mounted them in the film.
There's no description of the film here, so I'll write a little bit about the film. Professor Vidyadhar (Sanjiv Kumar) teaches Hindi in college and lives in an apartment with his wife Shobha (Asha Parekh) and son Pappu. He leads a rather routine and mundane life, until a new resident of the apartment upstairs moves into the house - an attractive young actress named Menaka Khanna, the daughter of a rich man. Shobha, of course, does not approve of her appearance, and tells her this quite frankly. Enraged Menaka swears that he will make Shobhu regret what he said. She decides to seduce Vidyadhara. When Shobha learns of this, she decides to put an end to this affair, and the frightened Vidyadhar does not know what to do in this situation. And then he learns that Menaki has two much younger fans, Ranjit Das (Dalip Tahil) and Vinod (Shekhar Suman), and both are not ready to yield to Menaka. The situation is heating up.
Sanjiv Kumar is here in the prime of his life (he died at 48, and here he is only 45), very attractive, albeit a little overweight. Everything is as perfect as ever.
Asha Parekh and Padmini Kolhapura also liked it. Each coped with their role perfectly (although I do not like Padmini, but here she was pleased). Shoma Anand was chic in the image of a dancing goddess, in one clip. It was the first time I saw this actress in this way. She's very beautiful in it.
Debutant Shekhar Suman, (replaced Raj Babbar), was also good, for the first time everything was played very natural. Deven Verma as the best friend of the professor, was in his place. I always like him. Although he is a supporting actor, his characters are always exciting. Well done.
In general, the entire cast was pleased and liked. Of course, it is noticeable that the actors have changed significantly in appearance, in the second half of the film it is especially noticeable that they look older. The quality of the film is not affected.
I also liked the songs, lyrical and gentle. The music is beautiful and corresponds to the film. In general, this film has a long-suffering fate. For a long time he starred, survived the death of the main actor, for several years he lay unfinished, ended with another director and with a changed plot, and even after the completion of the film did not come out in wide release, and hit the big screen only in 1993 (eight years after the death of Sanjiva Kumar). And of course, the Russian audience reached the end of the 90s, and then without voiceover and translation. And finally, our translators became interested in the film, and fans of Indian cinema of the 80s - 90s and voiced it in 2013. Now we have the opportunity to watch this movie. And enjoy the work of the magnificent Sanjiva Kumar, and see him on the screen for the last time, albeit not until the end.
