Before us is one of the most... unusual and atypical dinosaur films, which is clearly not designed for a children's audience. And all thanks to the main theme of the project - the intimate life of prehistoric creatures.
Unfortunately, due to the peculiarity of the translation, a joke with a name ironic in relation to the famous dinosaur Tyrannosaurus Rex was “killed” (because if translated literally, this project should have been called “Tyrannosaurus Sex”.) A more loyal translation - "Sex in Tyrannosaurs", kind of does not cancel the essence, but still does not sound so elegant and original.
On the one hand, I cannot but give credit to the creators. In fact, thanks to a huge number of popular science projects about dinosaurs, we more or less know how they lived and what they ate. But as for such a sensitive and sensitive topic as sex, this was never discussed in principle. Well, they hatched out of eggs, like chicks or crocodiles and everything. And what preceded their appearance, and in general how the process of fertilization took place, this was taken out of the scope of the project and the viewer could only guess how it happened.
On the other hand, narrowing the processes of life of dinosaurs to intimate relationships, the creators risked to scare away from the film a potential viewer - children. Well, sometimes you have to make such sacrifices. However, I am sure that not every adult would like to know how prehistoric creatures made love.
As experts versed in the intimate life of dinosaurs, paleontologists Kenneth Carpenter, Mark Norell, Christy Curry Rogers and Gregory Erickson were invited. Well, the creatures themselves, drawn on the computer, frankly, I was a little disappointed. Like not the early 2000s in the yard, and the graphics still not very.
Most importantly, answering the most exciting question “How?”, the creators simply take and refer the viewer to examples among modern animals and birds, hinting that dinosaurs are their distant ancestors in the line of evolution. So I wouldn’t call this short (about 45 minutes) very informative. However, it is at least curious in itself.
