Movie notes. Not a review. Another, not very intricate horror film about a trip to an abandoned city, this time called Satterville. As usual, the image of a classic American family, which consists of a middle-aged couple, the daughter of a teenager, the son of a fool. Unusual, this set could be a grandfather, but weave him into this story only in order to fulfill the plot plan. The antagonist in this case is the henchman of the devil, a young pale-faced guy with a typical Satanist (or vampire), Gothic appearance.
There are no interesting plot twists in this picture. Everything is quite dull and ordinary, the entourage does not attract. Plus, some episodes are too stupid. The main villain is found, in one of the dusty apartments of an abandoned building, by local police. What they came to him with and why they decided to arrest him remains a secret behind seven seals. Moreover, one of the officers who detained him directly says that he does not know who he is. So why are you so mad at him? No previous events or even hints. They just took it for vagrancy. The further development of events is connected exclusively with the tricks of this young man, first at the police station, and then with a visit to the aforementioned family, which at his command, was stuck in the seedy, completely devastated town of Satterville.
What is most affecting is the poshness of the police and the completely illogical behavior of a woeful satanist with supernatural abilities. Then he can easily teleport, move in the fog, then for him the obstacle is an ordinary door. I don't know why he's making this difficult. This type at the same time mocks the law enforcement officers and likes to have fun, but again wants to quietly bypass them. No rationality in his actions, personally, I could not catch. In my opinion, the director and screenwriter Michael Hawes simply had no idea what the construction of the scenes should look like. And it's no wonder you have such a poor script on your hands. Cardboard characters, lack of high-quality leitmotif and detailed storylines.
Completely faceless and unforgettable, unreasonably irrational, with mediocre actors and an inexpressive denouement. Purely a subject lover. You can watch, but not desirable.
