While the rental of the fourth part of The Expendables is in full swing, I quickly closed Gestalt and watched the third, which had been hanging for a long time in Vishlist for a film screening. Well, yeah, I liked it. No worse than the sequel and certainly better than the original film directed by Stallone.
The triquel was taken up by Patrick Hughes, who pleases his spectator action films not every time. Here he had a pancake out: a dynamic and exciting action movie with the stars of action films of the 80-90s. As usual in this franchise. Masculinity, machismo, piu-piu, poof-poof and other attributes of brutal "male" films of those years. The script is rhythmic and sometimes cheerful, you will not have to miss watching all two hours. Good rhythm, combining both dialogue scenes and shootings. Finally, the sane governing idea is the continuity of generations. The grandfathers realized that they were not eternal, and decided to gradually transfer the reins of power to a new generation, and themselves retire.
Acting jobs default for this segment of cinema: Stallone, Statham, Snipes, Banderas, Gibson, Ford, Crews, Lundgren, Lee, Schwerzenegger - all in their places. Operator work and installation are excellent. The movie is simply spectacular, and it is pleasant to watch. Post-production and sound design did not disappoint either. That sounds great.
As a result, there is nothing to add. "The Expendables 3" is a mainstream movie for fans of action actors from the 80-90s. Replete with the style and narrative elements of the cinema of those years, the picture is not boring and captures your attention from the first scene to the final credits. Quick, daring, like a bullet sharp. I am waiting for the digital release of the fourth part.

After the triumphant release of the second part of the “Expendables”, the producers understood that it was necessary to release a triquel as soon as possible, because the attention of the audience is variable and it is worth matching the fashion as long as it is able to bring good money. Therefore, after the end of the rental of the sequel, work began on another part of the franchise, but its rental was under threat due to a number of factors, some of which could be predicted, and others not.
The most important thing that the authors could change was the approach to the development of the plot. Barney Ross and his team went on another mission and everything went well until they were seriously ambushed and one of the members of the squad, Caesar, was seriously injured and out of action. Because of this, Barney decided to retire his former team and recruited completely new people into the squad. But here the hero was waiting for only disappointment, because his new opponent is much more dangerous than it seemed.
The thing is that Conrad Stonebanks once together with Ross organized a squad of “Expendables”, but then switched to the side of the villains and Barney thought that he had dealt with him. But the former comrade was alive, confidently sells weapons and seeks to destroy all who hunt him. And the youth in the Ross team, he definitely will not regret, since he does not feel nostalgia for them.
The problem here is that the audience went to "The Expendables" in order to see the heroes of the militants of the past years in action, and in this film they were pushed to the background. It was done to ensure that Barney Ross from Sylvester Stallone experienced half of the film and worried about the health of friends, but it did not play as it should and many viewers frankly did not like it. The script could be corrected initially, but the authors decided to do an experiment and paid for it.
But what could not have been predicted was the theft of a high-quality copy of the film, which was made available on the Internet. Unfortunately, it was such a blow to the film, after which it is difficult to recover. In many ways, the theft of a copy led to the fact that many viewers watched the film at home and it would still be a little and failed at the box office. But, nevertheless, fans of the series and saved the triquel from a complete disaster and still he was able to pay off.
The Expendables 3 did not become as big an event as the first two films because of a number of mistakes the authors made. But despite this, the cast of the tape was replenished with new celebrities and in general the film looks quite cheerful. No one really expected more from him.

In The Expendables 3, Stallone came very close to failure.
I’m not going to open up America to say that the franchise’s main virtue is a constellation of beloved action heroes from the end of the last century who were brought together and allowed to do whatever they wanted to do—and the less realistic the better. Surely to the question of the most memorable scene of the first two parts, most will confidently answer: the trio Stallone-Schwarzenegger-Willis, bursting into a building with multi-caliber guns under the cover of Chuck Norris. Replace all the characters with young actors - and the franchise would not have time to become a franchise, having failed at the box office on the first film, because now such straightforward and in a good way stupid militants are no longer made.
And, nevertheless, this is exactly the trick Stallone tried to turn: he recruited a new team consisting entirely of little-known young actors. Fortunately, in the end, the old guard still comes to the fore, but the bell is definitely alarming: does Sly plan to gradually replace all the beloved, but still aging heroes, with new ones, trying to make them the main stars?
Fortunately, balances this dubious move powerful replenishment. In place of the main villain was given Mel Gibson. The antagonist from the point of view of studying the stars from the sky again is not enough, but still better than the terrible character played by Van Damme in the second part. The Expendables team was joined by Wesley Snipes, who throughout the first half of the film is diligently, but not very successfully, trying to make a character who generates around himself a shock mass of jokes (personally, I thought only one was funny - about taxes, in which the real prison term of the actor is played out). But Antonio Banderas, coming out of the shadows in the second part of the tape is really a treasure trove. The mere fact that he speaks with the voice of the Cat in Boots already makes me smile. And the Spaniard, in addition to this, also funny gestures, shows emotions and generally at some point pulls on the audience’s attention, regardless of who in the same frame he was.
Not without losses: Bruce Willis thought not enough $3 million for 4 shooting days, and he dropped out of the project. In his place appointed Harrison Ford - actor not so militant, but equally cult. Significantly expanded the role of Schwarzenegger, and Jet Lee screen time sprinkled more.
In the dry residue, the film turned out to be perhaps the weakest in the trilogy, but still able to attract attention and give pleasure from viewing.

What can I say about Expendables 3? Actually, a lot of good. Yes, it would seem that the third part is sucked out of the finger and nothing new can present us. This is obviously true, but with minor adjustments. First, the plot: Yes, it's a bit banal, but in fact, of all three films, it's more emotional than the others. You really start to worry about some characters. And, in my opinion, the film really touches on the theme of friendship, unity, family (we all know this from the Furious series). The characters do not look tired, but on the contrary, you can see that they like to star in this project. The musical compositions were quite good, especially when the characters were shown separately. I would also like to mention the cast of characters. Indeed, there are more of them, the character of Banderos is very convenient for this film and fits perfectly into the team. Acting is also good – after all, these are the so-called “Old Men”, actors whom we have known since time immemorial, with extensive experience behind them.
I would like to mention the character of Mel Gibson. He played the role of an absolutely typical villain who absolutely does not stand out. Even Van Damme in the second part was much better and played really well and frighteningly cool. In the same film, they wanted to take out only on the good name of Gibson, but as a villain he is the most ordinary.
And, so this is a worthy continuation of a small franchise, which can be seen if you like cool special effects, interesting cast of actors and good humor.

Some film needs to be infused, 10 years old. To some moviegoer need to insist. Everything has to come together. Plus, the world legal film should be closed by and large. And then what turned eyes once, suddenly will play new... these, you understand it.
The old men are coming back. We've all been or will be. Orange, too, will one day become pepper...orange, of course. Does the old school have gunpowder anywhere? Well, you know everything by comparison. Therefore, to check and verify the capabilities of our grandfather, a team of young animals is hired.
Lets battle begins. Or something like that. The orange juice was good, by the way. The most savour of our old men also long ago Hollywood squeezed, drank, generally to the bottom. Therefore, it is not surprising that after this movie (after 2014), many of our old people either retired conditionally or became teachers, sensei, mentors for the younger generation. Creed: The Legacy of Rocky (2015)
That's what our cinema does. It allows young people to show themselves. You give young people. But old people have their own power, their own style. All their charisma, of course, is that we once watched them to the holes on VHS, then on DVD, at someone and on the Internet, in standard theaters, of course. All the power of old people is in us old-school moviegoers. Without us, all the charisma of the old people is like puff. Therefore, the youth is needed in any case, but eminent. I didn't really find one here. So the real battle of youth vs old people did not work. That would be fun. Conditionally Cinematic Old School vs New. Reviving the old PC and bringing it into battle with a newborn/reborn online.
Okay, okay. Our cinema is watchable in certain moments, especially in shootings and explosions - there is something to see. Dialogues without shootings are not that catchy, they just make you think, but in general on abstract topics, for example: do the actors understand that this is not serious, or do they still bring some lyrics to us, giving their characters drama? But you can look at the review. Part of the film is generally on the bus and on the road on foot on a smart screened.
Under such a movie, you need to do something you love. Massage, maybe someone will give you. You can turn on some computer game where you can wet someone with packs in unison with the urine of our movie. There are many variations. Otherwise it'll be boring. You can flip through and read other people's reviews, which no one has ever done.
Okay, it got boring.
All three parts are just a fall, such stars, a great plot, and with humor, in general, viewed all three parts, as they say binge drinking. . . 10 out of 10. P.S. In Wikipedia on the page of this film there is a section "Plans for continuation", it is quite voluminous, on this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ %D0%9D%D0%D0%D5%D0%D0%DDD%D0%D0%D0%D0%D0%D0%D0%D0%D0%D0%D0%DB% D0%D%D0%DB%D0%D0%D0%DBD%D0%D0%DDDDDDDD%D0%DDDDDDD%D0%DBDD%D0% DBD%D%D0%D%D%D0%DBD%D%D%D%DB%D%D%DBD%D%D%DBD%D%D%D%DBD%D%D%D% D%D%D%DBD%D%DBDBD%D%D
It didn't work. Stallone was never a good screenwriter, but then he frankly sat in a puddle. If in the first two parts there was a nice balance between charismatic faces, cheerful action and humor, then in the third part there was a confused vinaigrette and Sly, as the organizer of this show, is responsible in the first place.
But there was a positive. For example, the influx of new blood in the face of Gibson, Ford, Banderas and Snipes. Yes, they are still good, able to outshine a lot of themselves and this is a great move. It's nice to see references to Sly's hits from the '90s. First there was Eric Roberts and the reference to the Specialist, then Schwartz and mocking their opposition. Lundgren and Rocky. Now Banderas and Snipes are from Hitmen and Destroyer respectively. It is nice that Stallone does not forget his long-time colleagues and invites him to play in his cabbage.
Sly is a well-known boxing and MMA fan and Randy Couture was a worthy addition, just as Antonio Tarver played Rocky's opponent in 2006. But Victor Ortiz? Really? Ronda Rousey? It feels like a casting for the most acidic faces in the universe. The same goes for Nick Powell and Kellan Lutz. It often happens that such films give an impetus to young talent, and he further progresses, he becomes a star on a local, and maybe on a global scale. It’s been 6 years and none of them have become a star. Approximately. The same goes for Liam Hemsworth from the sequel. I don't know what the problem was, or is it such trolling from Stallone who wanted to show how dull they look in front of charismatic grandparents like Lundgren, Lee and Statham. If so, then okay, it was easy to do. If not, then the casting department has been dissolved, I hope.
There was a terrible graphic, just terrifying. It feels like she's come straight out of Die Hard's fifth. The Bulgarian studio frankly failed to cope with the task and was rightly criticized after the premiere.
It was clear that Stallone wanted to complicate the drama, to make the script not as one-sided as in the first two parts. That's commendable, but Sly couldn't. I wanted the best, but it was even worse than it was. Sometimes it is not necessary to cross the line and turn the militant into a talker, and such a hulking one.
Disappointment with the success of the first two films
For what we loved the film 'The Expendables', it is for nostalgia for the past, for good old action in the style of the last century, and of course for our childhood heroes. The first two films came out with a bang and delighted all the adult fans who grew up on this kind of movie (including me). And now it was time to release the third part of the film and everyone hoped that the film will keep the bar of the first two parts of the film and at first it was. But everything in order.
The director was Australian Patrick Hughes, in my opinion, the director of the second part Simon West is a more suitable candidate (even Stallone would be more appropriate), because they know only in action films and know how to make such films, the script was co-authored as usual by Mr. Sylvester Stallone. I was glad to see the return to the cinema of the famous Blade Wesley Snipes, who served three years in prison for tax evasion (in the film this joke was played), according to the plot of the film, the character of Wesley Snipes was part of the original team of the irrepressibles and he was released from prison by the team of Barney Ross. Without departing from the original team of irrepressibles, the main villain was performed by Mel Gibson (who, by the way, was offered the director's chair) as Conrad Stonebanks, who many years ago together with Barney founded a team of irrepressibles. I believe that the characters of Snipes and Gibson were quite appropriate, one in the role of a positive character returns to the team, the second in the role of a villain, similar to Van Damme in the second part. Unfortunately, we did not see jokes and hamstrings between Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham, the character of Terry Crews was tactfully removed from most of the film, as during the operation he was injured and without him the hero of Randy Couture looked out of his plate. Against the background of all these injuries and murders in the past of teammates, Barney decided to disband his team and assemble a team of young and #39 hungry guys, and helped him in this character Kelsey Grammer. It is commendable that Mr. Stallone decided to make this move, but it was a mistake, because immediately a large part of the audience of the film was lost, as we did not want to look at former UFC champion Ronda Rousey, Victor Ortiz boxer, Kellan Lutz, Glen Powell. Of course, it was possible to dilute the team with a young team, without replacing your old team. But no matter what, the audience wanted to see more Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, even the duet Randy Couture and Terry Crews has already become favorite viewers, Jet Lee again appeared in a small role in the film, but this time he worked together with the hero Arnold Schwarzenegger. Bruce Willis We did not see, and he has already written his small role in Indiana. Also note the appearance in the film Antonio Banderas as a talker Galgo. I think his character was not appropriate in the film at all.
Composer Brian Tyler as usual coped well with his duties, and the rest of the film disappointment, no, of course, in the film there is something to look at, for example, quite brutal and cruel villain in the person of Mel Gibson or on the returned Wesley Snipes, the difference between the young and the old generation, but for the most part in the film was a mixture of both, and box office in the United States speaks for itself.
Therefore, a positive review only out of respect for the first two parts of the film, Stallone, Statham and the rest of the old guard + for the castes of Gibson and Snipes.

I liked the first two parts of this story about the good old superheroes of the 90s. I treated these tapes as an attraction, paying tribute to those times and those paintings. This is a really good project Stallone, which certainly will not leave indifferent viewers, who are now at least thirty years old and, in general, can find a response from the younger generation. And then, in the third part, Mel Gibson, my favorite Mel Gibson, joined this beautiful company, which doubled my interest in watching this tape.
The third part, by and large, is not inferior to the first two. We are again waiting for a rainbow stream of testosterone, pumped men, shots, chases, crazy fights, explosions, crumbling buildings and, of course, the same “immortality” of characters that is so inherent in the militants of the 90s. And that's great. It's really great. On the one hand, I was afraid that by the third part, either the writers’ ideas would run out, or this nostalgia would suffice and I would simply not be interested in watching. I really enjoyed this movie.
The only downside for me was the Gibson character. Alas, I found it very fake. Perhaps due to the fact that in the previous part, the main villain, very well played by Van Dam, was so colorful that it is quite difficult to beat this impression.
What they did not say about this film how bad it is, I will stick to my opinion and say that the film is perfectly shot in all respects and let’s analyze everything in order.
The cast.Everything remained almost unchanged, but the Hollywood team received reinforcements, namely the young generation of the unstoppable. But not the point, but the point is that the film became even cooler, more dynamic and fun, thanks to the inclusion of these guys in the film.
The film is very cool. I liked the play of the antagonist performed by Mel Gibson, for no one else such roles are not suitable as for him.
Installation: Again, the professionals worked and everything was assembled well.
Music: Zero changes.
Dialogues: In a movie like this, they can’t be bad. I also liked the quote that Stonebanks said to a young mercenary:
Untie me, I will open you and you will see your heart. There is nothing more to say.
On the budget of the film.Result: Very interesting, driving film with hurricane shootouts and explosions. I am looking forward to the fourth part, and this film receives from me deserved.

The first part was bold by the very idea - the heroes of the militants of the 80-90s in one grinding action movie! I don’t care about the plot, give us conditions for action, a couple of machine guns, and a hundred extras and we will return you to your childhood, VHS-era.
The second part was even better, in addition to the still bloody action (severing limbs from bullets, cutting off heads with a rotor), we were given a good villain performed by Jean-Claude Van Damme. And great cameos with scripted dialogues. Chuck Norris, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis It's a rate hike. And the producers certainly hit the jackpot.
But, as often happens, a triquel is created such that it is better to think that it does not exist and it does not belong to the franchise.
The expectations were bright.
On the poster adorned in addition to our old friends (Stallone, Statham, Lundgren, Crews, Couture, Lee, Schwarzenegger) and Snipes, Banderas, Ford, Gibson! Wow!
So Stallone in the 20th minute, as if to the viewer says: "Are you happy to see them all?" Well, remember this moment, because you will only see them at the very end, in the final fight. In the meantime, look at the new ones.
Well, newcomer conflict isn't new. It is always interesting to contrast “old and new”. Okay. Let's meet the new team.
The first is a bouncer lady at a nightclub. He wears heels, effectively distributes lulas to drunk visitors. Barney Ross notices the Expendables supplier that he can beat. To which Kelsey Grammer smirks "Go like that in your heels"
How unexpected. But the enemy will not care that she is a woman and is unlikely to succumb to her in battle, come to your senses, for God’s sake!
Okay, so who else is new to us?
Hacker climber? Uh, unusual. Who else?
Sniper? Finally, by all the patterns of militants. A tough guy, a little wordy, with a good gun. At least someone will cover for Barney.
And on sweets, a guy who fights badly in the ring. Former Marine.
Composition is complete.
Wait a minute! Don’t you think that a thin hacker, a girl, a guy who lies under men for money, an inexperienced sniper is not the best replacement for former fighters? Especially to go with unprepared guys on a deadly mission. And all right, if such roles were played by famous actors, say the same Banderas, Milla Jovovich, Dwayne Johnson and Jeremy Renner? Much more interesting. And here is a horde of cardboard characters, and even tastelessly playing their performers.
Talk as much as you like about the sports merits of Ortiz (sniper) and Rosie (girl), but here is a movie. It doesn’t matter what the level of the film was, you need to somehow play! Schwarzenegger tries, albeit sometimes clumsily, but you feel the desire to improve. It's all dark. Memorable perhaps, Kellan Lutz (former Marine) - the beautiful half of humanity remembers him for the brightest role of Emmet Cullen from Twilight to date.
It’s an uneven replacement, don’t you think?
I won’t hide it, but “Golden Plum 2014” was supposed to receive “Sylvester Stallone” along with other producers. Invite for a few minutes Wesley Snipes, Harrison Ford (and this is Han Solo), Mel Gibson (one of the best actors in the whole film) and so godlessly cut their timekeeping!
Why did the movie get a PG-13 rating? What about teenagers? Well, it seems that they were not particularly present at the sessions, there were only angry adults, deprived of the bloody spectacle. Why be like Transformers, Marvel? You have your own layer – adults who grew up on Rambo, Commando, Universal Soldier. As a result, people fall dullly from shots, blood does not go from stab wounds.
Even Gibson-Stallone's sparring was unimpressive. They didn't bother much. Four missed hits Slyu, a pair Gibson and the denouement - shot the villain. Spectacular, yes.
This is a total downgrade, producers.
Bottom line:
The youth did not drag, because not the most outstanding young talents are invited to the roles.
Old people because of the young received a small timekeeping, which is why the film sagged in the middle.
The action is toothless and uninteresting.
The villain is good, but not enough.
Acting work was probably only for Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford and Antonio Banderas.
Something like that.

After such cool films, where the main thing was not the plot, but the presence of stars of militants of old times, I do not want to realize and accept the renewal of the team for young people. This conflict is definitely sucked out of the finger. They try to explain this to us through pity for the character, although before that it was possible to hear that many members of the team had already died, but their leader did not hang up and continued to go forward with the rest. And now, if we have been shown this terrible and moving moment, our feelings must be absolutely hurt in order for us to be able to perceive this turn of events. I repeat, the main thing in the franchise is the actors, and when such legends are replaced by someone who is unclear, it becomes sad. In addition, the team is increasingly replenished and “old men”. Of course, it is nice to look at new characters, but such a large number of them will not lead to anything good, because even losing several characters at once, no matter what way, just to reduce their number is a bad option. And because of this, the disclosure of these characters also suffers. For example, Harrison Ford's character just feels like Bruce Willis, but it's worth saying at the beginning, "We don't need him anymore," so we have a completely different character. If you replace the actors and their characters, it is somehow more worked out.
The plot is not as cool as it was with the previous two paintings. And the fault lies not only in the decision to cram young people and “children’s” rating. As I’ve noted many times, the sudden appearance of old enemy buddies who seemed dead/missing is always lazy, especially when it’s done in such a massive part of the franchise. After not quite successful Eric Roberts, at least he was the first, and the excellent Jean-Claude Van Damme Mel Gibson, or rather, his character, in many ways inferior, although at first it seemed quite different. His dialogue with the main character, Barney Ross, showed all his nature, and thanks to this you could not care about his meaning, but once he was completely “free”, everything goes down. I would like to touch on the topic again with an updated composition. We, as in the first part, the poster "draw" the names of the main stars, but most of them do not matter so much. Only if in the first film, some were as excellent cameos, and some were not bad in the second roles, now show so many actors, and in the end, the entire central part of the picture to show these young people is also wrong. Well, the rating PG-13 in my opinion does not change the tone of the picture much, although it still looks unusual action without flying blood and other cruelty.
The soundtrack has become more "advanced" by focusing on the younger generation, and to look at the old people during this music after previous films is even ridiculous. Special effects have not changed much, in some large-scale moments you can see bad graphics. Acting isn't that catchy anymore. The whole team in the middle is thrown out of the film, and Stallone is not interesting against the background of the young, as are the youth themselves. Of the newcomers to the franchise, Wesley Snipes and Antonio Banderas pleased, but they did not have as much screen time as they wanted. Humor still pleases and laughs, all jokes from the “old guard” amusing. The camera work does not even think to stop and again shows footage with a shaking camera during the action.
The film was disappointing in many ways, but not in all. Because of this update in the franchise, the picture feels like Mission Impossible because the main feature is almost absent. Fans should definitely watch the tape, but as another sequel to "The Expendables" it does not reach that level.
The first part of “The Expendables” was conceived as a “nostalgic project”, in which the memories and sympathies of the viewer will be pressed by the abundance of familiar faces, once remembered during watching old action films on the screens of bulky TVs with a small screen, using video cassettes with questionable quality and nefarious translation, although some super hits were also in theaters with dubbing, but tapes were cheaper. Now it’s a bit sad to look at the aged Arnie and Sly, but seeing their unlost skills in the fights arranged by these same actors in new hits, we understand that not all is lost. And the new fighters themselves sometimes turn out not worse than the classics, but the first part of the superproject "The Expendables" disappointed many, because, with such an abundance of favorites from the 90s, we saw only a combat mission performed by a group of militants. Or, as my older brother puts it about this film, “the old men came, killed everyone, and there was no point.” He feels the same way about the sequel to The Expendables, which came out with even more bombast than the first part, in which even the special effects were not of the highest class. “Expendables 2” actually came out much more useful than the first part, and not only in terms of a much richer visual series, but also in terms of the storyline and semantic component: this time our heroes had not just to kill bandits, but to free the civilians enslaved by the mafia, as well as avenge the murdered comrade. And so we waited for the third part not with chuckles, but with hopes for the same good action movie as the previous one. Judging by the rating of the third film, which dropped lower than the first part, it follows that the viewer is disappointed, but I believe that everything is not so bad: the triquel is weaker than the sequel, but certainly better than the first part, which was essentially a pen break in the (for now) trilogy - the fourth part is planned as well.
The triquel begins with action, during which a squad of Expendables attacks a train carrying a prisoner under reliable security to a secret prison, and our heroes manage to free this man who has waited 8 years for them to get him out of there, but only now they managed to calculate his whereabouts. Together they go on a new mission, the essence of which is not entirely clear, so there is another action, during which one of the members of the squad dies, and the head of the Expendables Barney intends to retire, from which he is dissuaded by the hero Jason Statham. Barney goes to various parts of the world, up to Moscow (which could be shown and more beautiful, as well as Las Vegas, which was shown in general ridiculously), to assemble a team of young Expendables, and send this guard on a super-mission - to find the most dangerous villain who has long been officially considered dead, but the catch is that it needs to be delivered to the customer alive, which is much more difficult than just to eliminate. The scenes with the review of recruits pleased with humor and incredible tricks and techniques performed by new members of the squad. But super-soldiers for some reason will not think that the lawless man they have caught is too well protected against his own abduction, and the entire squad will be in danger.
Towards the end, the abundance of shootings strains even more than in the second part, although there is a more elegant and beautiful action, and a slight disadvantage inherent in the first two parts is the cheapness of the scenery of entertainment venues, where our heroes rest after tasks. But not everything is so bad, as the haters think, mocking over the "unkillable old-timers": the plot here is, the meaning - well, we can stretch to say that it is, still there is a fighting spirit and mutual assistance in the squad; and the action is inferior to the visual of the second part, like everything else, but it is, and it is enough for visual pleasure. Quite a decent triquel, a normal story, cheapness does not shine, plot twists are available, so you will not be bored. Good movie, the claims are completely incomprehensible.
The third part of “The Expendables” I have been waiting for since the announcement, teasers and trailers caused wild delight, promising in addition to the always great action and replenishment of the cast in the form of Wesley Snipes, Harrison Ford and several more famous actors. However, the film came out and left a rather bad impression on many people. And for a reason. In my opinion, Expendables 3 has two key problems.
So the first problem is the young. At one point, the entire old guard is thrown out of the plot, except Stallone, who travels the world collecting a new, young lineup of the Expendables. What's the big deal? New faces will refresh the franchise and lay the foundation for subsequent films, and the action genre will be replenished with several more big names. But it wasn't. Absolutely all young animals play the role of furniture in the last stage of stature. No acting, coupled with a complete lack of charisma and any individuality, is the most accurate description of the entire young caste without exception. I remember only a girl, and then only because she is a girl.
The second problem is the PG-13 rating. Whatever you say, the age rating is very important for such projects. If the action in the past parts looked juicy, beautiful, spectacular, then here it often looks too unnatural and ridiculously cardboard. Chasing a wider audience, The Expendables virtually lost even what they already had. Indeed, someday the children's rating will kill the action movie as a genre. Stallone later admitted that PG-13 was a mistake and promised to return R to the fourth installment of the franchise. Well, we believe and wait.
Let's get to the pluses now. It's, of course, the cast. In the third part, the standard caste of "The Expendables" was joined by Wesley Snipes, the aged, but still magnificent Harrison Ford, the insanely chic villain Mel Gibson and the enchanting Antonio Banderas. Old people are still insanely charismatic and unrealistically cool, habitually throw jokes and enjoy every appearance in the frame. Schwarzenegger laughing hellishly, mowing down enemy soldiers with a machine gun - the sight is simply phenomenal and leading to absolute delight. Well, the final half-hour action scene, despite everything, is simply gorgeous.
Bottom line: The Expendables 3 fell victim to their own ambitions and fashion trends. Having somewhat gone out of the way of an old-school action movie, having received a children's rating and fresh, unseen faces on the screen, the film largely lost its own face and its place in the genre niche. As a result, low fees and dissatisfied viewers. Let’s hope that Sly takes all of this into account, and the fourth part of the franchise will return to its origins, releasing a new batch of crazy action, new old movie heroes, an R rating and more of Schwartz’s signature grin. With a look at past films and due to respect for the mastodons of the genre

And this is the third part. I even got bored. So I want to take it from here to here.
I'll start with the story. I thought there was more intrigue, and the plot itself was more interesting. Unlike the first and second parts, the scenario is more thought out. The old cast decided to dilute the young. Which, of course, was not superfluous. At one point, I thought the old line-up would fade, but by the end of the film, my doubts were dispelled.
The only drawback of adding a younger generation is that no one has particularly opened up, everything has turned out so much. But again, who looks, someone will be attracted by the fight, and the person will not see the characteristic features of the characters, and someone on the contrary will look at the play of certain actors. Personally, I was able to see everything that was needed, and the game and the character of the characters.
The film turned out to be two main goals, to neutralize and kill the villain Conrad Stonebanks, and the second – the clash of two generations, and the goal is to show who is cooler. This is more interesting than the previous ones.
Now let's go through the names.
Sylvester Stallone - without any comment. The Expendables franchise is his child, whom he raises from part to part. He's got a lot of Hollywood-influenced actors, and nobody's ever done that, and maybe nobody's even tried. And he was able, plus he kept the bar perfectly in the first, in the second, and in this part.
Jason Statham, you can write a lot about him. He's an insanely charismatic actor. In my opinion, he will play any role, from a comedian to a dramatic role. In The Expendables, he’s a tough fighter, a great friend/brother of Barney Ross, he tears up and mocks, so jokes are bad. "Colleagues" on the film, it is clear that they appreciate his opinion and respect as a person. A little more than everyone else. He is Stallone's right-hand man.
Dolph Lundgren is such a handsome man! To be honest, I only saw him in the movie Universal Soldier, where he impressed me of course. But here, it seems, he was lost, especially did not remember his performance in the film. Well, if only for one moment (but I will not spoil).
Arnold Schwarzenegger - I treat this actor exactly, his role in the film is not large, but significant. For me, he was an actor of one role (this is about the Terminator) and will remain, here he did not open for me in any way.
Antonio Banderas – the feeling that he got the role written for Jackie Chan. He (Jackie) was called to act, but something didn’t work out. And so Banderas performed it simply magnificently, it turned out such a “talking irrepressible”, an unexpected role for him, and for me too, I was used to seeing him only in the role of macho. I laughed from my heart at his behavior and remarks. The most comical role in the film.
“If he runs out of bullets, he will talk everyone to death.”
Mel Gibson is a clever villain. I’m used to seeing it in romantic stories. And here you are, negative hero, and with a touch of drama. It was good, I liked it.
Harrison Ford - I thought Bruce Willis would be in his place, but it didn't work out. Little, I would even say episodic, but what a role! Take a look, you will be pleasantly surprised. But for me, it’s still not “The Expendable” but “Han Solo” from “Star Wars”, well, he didn’t fit into this film.
Jet Lee - very little time was given to him on the film, but I think it is enough to reveal his role in the film.
Terry Crews is not his role, not his film, and in general, he is just a dude from a deodorant commercial for me. That's all.
I do not want to write about the young composition, it is probably too early to draw conclusions about them. They played well, not particularly remembered. But still good guys!
Missed in the film Mickey Rourke, in the first part he organically fit. I don’t know why he refused to go ahead.
The result is a good action movie, explosive, interesting, moderately dramatic, and humorous to the maximum. Look, you won’t waste time for sure! And get distracted.
And of course, we are waiting for the fourth part.
And I didn't like that movie. I was very pleased with the action films “The Expendables” and the first film and the second, and therefore there were great demands for the third new film. But it was as if everything turned three hundred and sixty degrees and something happened. If the first two films for me personally are two great action films, then this third story is just a failure.
Once again, we see a team of unstoppables who can complete any impossible task. They are real men and are not afraid of anything. There is one who decides to wipe the unstoppable from the face of the earth, and before us their next, dangerous, male brawl with shootings, fights and a new, whole war.
In "The Expendables" play a bunch of great American actors who have already become veterans of Hollywood action movies. Sylvester Stallone has assembled a chic, acting, male cast, and it turned out to be a great team for a good action movie. Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Randy Couture - all of them pleased us in the first two films. The actors were successful and everything looked good. Stallone himself was good, he twisted powerful and good action movies that pleased the eye.
But what went wrong in "The Expendables 3"? Why isn’t the movie as cool and atmospheric as the first two? In the third film, the cast is joined by Wesley Snipes, Harrison Ford, Antonio Banderas and in the negative role of Mel Gibson. There are so many gorgeous actors whose films no generation has grown up on, so I wanted to see something real cool and explosive, but no, the movie didn’t work out. The third part of “The Expendables” turned into a dry and slick action movie, sometimes quite boring and dead.
There was always something missing when watching. If the direction in the first two films felt good, and the director knew what he wanted, then the direction in the third film was weak. The atmosphere was dry and again, something was missing. It didn't look like that anymore. Yes, and many scenes were a little implausible, earlier in the first two films I did not notice this.
If in the first two "The Expendables" the female role was played by Charisma Carpenter, then in the third film it was not, and very sorry. Very nice was the female character, making up a harmonious duet of Jason Statham.
“The Expendables 3” was a long-awaited action movie about my favorite team with a bunch of amazing actors. The film itself turned out to be average and not up to the level of the first two films. Too bad. I wanted to see something interesting and cool, but no, I didn’t like the movie and I said no.
"The Expendables" began as a phenomenon from the past that suddenly reminded of the former heroes of the militants. It was great to see my favorite actors again. And it was interesting to see how they interact in one movie. As a team. In terms of the plot, nothing special was expected here initially. There are positive heroes and there are negative ones. And as in any good action movie, good must defeat evil. There's no other way. Whatever villain is shown in the film, you can be sure in advance that he will be defeated. That is, from the “Expendables” should not expect an innovative scenario, and their value is in quality performance and love for the past. And then the third movie really screwed up.
A child-rated fighter is like Dracula without blood or vampires. And so the movie started. Everything went according to recognizable patterns - the main characters conduct another operation. It seems that everything is in its place, but when the shooting, muzzling and explosions begin, it becomes clear that it is bad. Well, there is almost no violence and blood in the frame, which are important to a militant as air is to a person. Sterility can still be tolerated, because the softness and lack of tin can be compensated by an inventive scenario and an exciting story. But more on that later. The main problem with the movie is special effects. And cartoon explosions cannot be justified and compensated by anything. This is a problem that the film cannot fix. I think you're shown a team of tough guys who can break through skulls, and there's such poor computer graphics. Even the unfortunate "New Spider-Man 2," who was sometimes scolded for being "cartoonous," did not stoop to such shame.
Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Lundgren ... in the first two films, their appearance was a joy and delight, no matter how much or little space they got in the film. But here it feels like there was no work with the characters at all when making the film. They're just like figurines, like furniture. What is called nostalgia doesn’t work here. The appearance of Wesley Snipes may have brought diversity to the company, but the film does not give him space to act. Antonio Banderas has been hit. There's nothing wrong with having a comic character who'll make good jokes. But here his jokes only take time and annoy.
As if not only are the old faces almost lifeless here, the film manages to sink even lower. Stallone must have been completely consumed by megalomania mixed with guilt. In the first two films, he stood out from the rest, and received the most laurels. It was annoying even then. But now it comes to total collapse. He decides to disband his old guard and recruits new mercenaries. And they're all boring, faceless, useless. There is no interaction between experience and adolescence, and the film does not play much on the contrast of ages. In the second part, one Liam Hamsworth was much brighter than all the youth here.
The best thing about the movie is Mel Gibson. The villain became accustomed to such stories. A soldier who is annoyed and offended by his government. Despite the familiar image, the actor manages to pull the film from the bottom. There was a moment where I wanted to laugh and applaud. Towards the end, when he was showing his soldiers how to kill people. The most vivid and funny moment of the film. Before that, everything was dull and tasteless. I was ready to fall asleep in front of the screen. And here, bang! But the standard works against the film. It is clear in advance what will happen to the villain. The same as in the first two pictures. There's another funny moment when Schwarzenegger says a famous phrase from "Commando." The one he uttered before releasing Sally to the gravity test site. I lied.
Stallone said in an interview that he told the new director to make this film without orientation and alignment with the previous two. But the experiment failed. There was nothing new to add. And the good old is almost out of business. The value of the “Nuspended” is in quality performance and love for the past. In the third film, it's those two vital components that are bad. And that's a shame.
5 out of 10
I don’t like 3D because I don’t like glasses. In any case, I like the old action films perfectly because they are made in a conventional format; there is no visual beauty there (well, who cares), but there are plenty of jumps, shots and explosions. This attracted me to the “Expendables” from the first part: everything, as in childhood, and the faces are still the same. I like that old men and middle-aged comrades are not ashamed of the fact that they are not thirty years old, and play the role of old men and middle-aged comrades who have cholesterol, heart trouble, nerves out of the way and other joys of a long fighting life.
In terms of dynamics, the third film is somehow better than the second, and there are few absurdities in it - rather, a classic story. It is impossible to call it history by the word cliché, for, excuse me, it is Stallone. It all started with him, and it will probably end with him. So it's predictable, but it's not the mystery. There are shootings and good acting. Cool and boring, this is enough.
Unstoppable, as God knows what, Barney Ross first assembles a team for work, then disbands it, then recruits young people, but this time the enemy is even more unpleasant than the previous ones. And for some reason, Barney forgot that only proven comrades should be taken to hunt a boar. In general, the whole plot is built on a well-established scheme "the hero wanted to do the best, but screwed up, and his friends still love him, save him and shoot everyone for him." And each new character was given time to reveal at least a little, everyone was paid attention, which is good with so many people.
I was also pleased with how Harrison Ford, who is actively preparing for the role of Han Solo here, together with Chubacca, this is the first normal role that Schwarzenegger, overcoming steep turns (" Where did you learn to fly?!), shoot the bad guys of some incomprehensible army; that Kellan Lutz, after Twilight, has had the first normal role that he came to the cinema from which I have long ago appeared in Banga.
The soundtrack here is combative, there is nothing more to say. Humor is present very unobtrusively, diluting periodic assaults with shootings. The dramatic component here is also unobtrusive, stingy, “with a male character.”
-- Here comes X-mas.
- But it's June!
With these words Harrison Ford, Antonio Banderas, Wesley Snipes and Mel Gibson joined the team the unstoppable
.
Harrison Ford became a new hard nut, replacing Bruce Willis. His traditional grin, from the first minutes, made it clear that he was back in the ranks, and even in what form! He has no importance or perseverance. An invaluable contribution to the third part of the unstoppable was made by Antonio Banderas. Yes, it was he who dragged the film, which was slowly sinking to the bottom, with his sparkling humor and impeccable acting. Suddenly all the humor in the movie disappeared. Although the heroes are still the same. This caused great bewilderment, as there was a lack of “detention” in the form of jokes and catchphrases. But another newcomer, a fan of knives, Wesley Snipes, brought some excitement to the film with his charisma (in the first two parts, Terry Crews did this). Indeed, the loss of Crews, should have been compensated by the same explosive energy. And here with the choice of the actor got to the point. Mel Gibson in the role of the villain looked as good as Van Damme in the second part. Quite insidious and “bountiful” uncle, who was in shape no worse than “irrepressible”.
But with the arrival of new and young heroes, problems arose. The viewer's trouble. First, "new friends" Stallone took precious time from those for whom you watch this film. Second, in my opinion, the team irresistible should be only steel-hardened uncles, and not young people who can easily be captured. Third, somehow, at the end of the film they became unkillable. Here a huge question is brewing: “Did the Old Guard lose its grip and now they can easily find real rivals, or is it such an advanced youth who is able to approach the level of unstoppable in such a short time?”
Now for the movies themselves. Like I said, the humour was lost. Blood and epic fights and shootouts disappeared from the screens (there were few of them at all). Therefore, reducing the category to 12+ was a big mistake (perhaps it was done in order to earn more money at the box office, but this disappointed real fans).
In conclusion, I would like to share my thoughts on the continuation of the franchise "Expendables". I would like to see on the screen new old friends such as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Vin Diesel, Will Smith, Cleen Eastwood, Danny Trejo, etc.
However, at the same time, the film is worth watching. These names will not let you pass by him.
I liked the movie. Without taking it apart, it’s still the same, well-positioned action movie.
I think Stallone is like a card player, going through the cards and looking for the best plot. There's something new in each part. On this young shift.
Of course, these young people show very little, not allowing them to fully open their potential. Who knows, maybe this part, so to speak, seed for the next?
It is hard to look at the idols of youth, as it is not regrettable. But here's another topic.
It was strange to see Antonio Banderas in such a twitchy way. But I have to admit, he's in great shape. As always, Spanish macho.
Wesley Snipes somehow passed by. They are the main characters.
As for jokes, here, as always, I wonder whether the translation is correct, is it simultaneous? Something tells me, not really. To appreciate humor, it is worth examining in the original and then decide.
The young “growth” is also somewhat blurred. But to be honest, it went to the main lineup. This is not a disappointment.
Lots of explosions, equipment, fighting. Periodically we are told about the tense life among mercenaries. (Tokens hanging in the plane).
Mel Gibson played the role of the villain. They made him an all-powerful businessman who wasted money. He fits the character, with an active nature on the side of darkness.
Harrison Ford is still a fighter. He is doing well despite his age.
The main thing is they're back together! It's worth looking at, there's something distant and native about it. And it does not matter that there are a lot of special effects, the main thing is that they are a movie family with their own joys and experiences.
The idea of bringing together in one film all the action actors of the 80s, for me, as for many, was a dream since childhood. I always wanted to see them fight side by side. And the first Expendables was just such a movie. He perfectly played on the feeling of nostalgia, gave emotions, the opportunity to see in one shot Sly, Arnie, Bruce. And as a fighter he looked quite good, in the spirit of the old school. The Expendables 2 got even better. The cast expanded, humor became many times more, and fighting scenes pleased the eyes. It was the peak of coolness on the screen. And in principle, the second part showed everything that could be shown. But the Expendables 3 were on the way. And I was waiting for this movie, because the cast was terrified again and I thought it would be epic. But when it came out, I saw a lot of reviews where people said the movie was terrible. I doubted if they were lying. The viewing was postponed and I finally watched it. And I will. The film is not as expected.
First scenario. He's kind of stupid and illogical. Many of the characters’ actions are incomprehensible. And if the beginning looks cheerful, then gradually the plot begins to sag. Many moments would be worth cutting out. Well, come on, stories in such films are usually not the main thing.
As for the action itself, the situation is a little better. The scene at the beginning is pleasing with the action. But then almost the whole film is silent and only the final brawl brings us back to our senses. It was great, but somehow without a light. She's missing something. And it does not go in comparison with the battle at the airport from the second part.
And now the most important thing: actors. Most of the film is based on their charisma. That's a problem. There are a lot of stars, but not always a good thing. The old guard in the person of Stallone, Statema, Lundgren looks faded and somehow tired. The new irrepressible Wesley Snipes animates the action at first, but then it goes somewhere in the shadows and the idea of its release is incomprehensible at all. Antonio Banderas in the role of a chatty mercenary looks alive the rest. This role he reminded me of the donkey from the cartoon Shrek, but still with his stupidity bent. Old man Schwarzenegger generally seems superfluous and without him it was quite possible to do. As well as without Jet Lee, which appears only at the end and does not affect the overall action. Harrison Ford was pleasant to see, but he was not enough, and his role could be expanded. And the main villain in the performance of Mel Gibson I did not like at all. I really like Gibson as an actor, but he's a bad guy. I don't believe him. There's no evil in him. Well, about the team of newcomers, which, in Barney’s opinion, was supposed to become a replacement for his former associates, I did not remember at all.
So the whole movie came out faded and undetectable. He didn’t have the humor, lightness and charm of the first two. Expendables 3 - not terrible, no. It just looks like a fake. And I, as a fan of old fighters, am offended. You can watch it, but you will hardly enjoy it. You won't want to reconsider again.
A fourth part is planned. Do you need it? If you come up with a good script, put in the chair of a skilled director, then perhaps it will burn out. But to me, the topic has exhausted itself.
For the first part of this film, I advise you to be late, and then limit yourself to a short retelling of a friend: Here Barney (Stallone) after the failure decided to disband the old Expendables and recruit young people. He's going to be chasing a very bad guy. The signal when you can start watching a movie will be the appearance on the screen of the hero Antonio Banderas.
The young director Patrick Hughes lacked either experience, talent, or a good script. It didn't work out. In the new team Barney did not remember a single character. And none is interesting. Behind the young heroes do not feel life experience, and the woman bouncer for some reason does not believe.
Probably, the classic action genre died along with its main stars. In place of stuntmen and scenery came his Majesty the Green Screen. And thank you Sylvester Stallone, that he at least for a short time returned the movie fans of youth. But any student of Dr. Frankenstein knows that if you revive a dead body over and over again, at some point it will completely collapse. And that critical moment for "The Expendables" seems to have arrived.
If you compare with the previous parts, then 3 is the most boring in terms of the plot. The predictability of plot twists is obvious on the face. I knew the ending of the movie at the beginning. In fact, this is a modified remake of the previous parts in which there is little new, even new characters did not enter. Perhaps the filmmakers believe that good actors provide success at the box office, but in fact this is not true. I think Stallone, for example, is a great actor, but actors without a script are no longer pulling. Unexpectedness and unpredictability is what the film lacks, and so much about Indian cinema. It looks like they should share it.
Another disadvantage is anti-realism. In the genres I did not see the word “fiction”, which is the place to be, due to the absence of any physical laws.
When the main characters are fired from all types of weapons, then there are no scratches on them, but if they shoot at their enemies, they fly away. Enemies really don't get a chance, and you know the main characters are safe. There is no desire to be on their side. A wonderful analogy is Tom and Jerry. You always know Jerry's going to win, and Tom is branded "bad." But going back to realism, I counted 30 times when Stallone was supposed to die, but no - saved for sequels.
If the first part was done with diligence, then 3 - only to make money. And you know, it works.
A few years ago, Stallone pleasantly surprised the audience "The Expendables" - a dashing action movie in the style of the 80s and modern reading. And an incredible star cast. And here's the triquel.
A Bulgarian armored train is taking you to prison... so what did I just say? But there will be more. Anyway, our team frees Wesley Snipes from him and flies to Somalia. That’s where the work begins to eliminate the arms dealer (they are all evil in the world). Unexpectedly, Barney learns the purpose of a certain Stonebanks, breaks down, and the whole operation flies to hell, ending with a serious wound to Caesar.
Ross’s new CIA employer, played by Harrison Ford, is horribly unhappy, and an upset Barney reacts in a strange way – disbands the team. Although the failure was his fault, and only he, say that the fault of the age of the fighters. So now Ross wants to bet not on experience, but on youth. So his team is replenished by people without experience of real combat operations, without special training, without ...
Therefore, it is not surprising that Stonebanks will outplay them and the old people will go to the final battle.
Yeah. And fuck him, with such a gleaming up to rolling into idiocy plot (although the first film was not so stupid). But the fight has turned into no one knows what. Now at our service and our, which can not hurt even tank shells, and enemies who are unable to get at point-blank range, and in general everything that turns the actions of professionals into the actions of the heroes of a bad fighter. There are too many heroes. And if Ford really did burn it out on a helicopter, Jet Lee was returned in vain - he didn't add anything. Youth are remembered, not surprisingly, for lying about Banderas' age. And that his comedy serves mainly to ensure that the viewer does not fall asleep from the tedious dialogue between fights. Ronda Roussie, unlike Cynthia Rothrock, the girl is quite cute, but inserted on the principle of “back off” and awarded the dumbest story. The nightclub bouncer - are you serious?
So, we ended up, as expected, for rest.
P.S.
Am I alone surprised by Statham's early-zero presence in the company of 80s action stars?
Guys, what do you need for a good movie? Call all the old guerrillas from Hollywood, put them together as a team? No, well, that's cool, but it's not enough. If the first time the audience applauded it, but in principle in the second too, as the role of the villain took another old-school dude (Van Damme, if you suddenly forgot), and the action there was simply swamped, then the third time it does not perish.
Stamps, templates - without them in this genre can not do. The script is primitive, the dialogue is stupid, and in some cases it is simply unbearable to listen to them, you want to close your ears and run away from the cinema.
Some can even be included in the repetition during torture, then you will be told everything and everything. A typical "Expendables" scheme: a villain terrorizes someone or hurts you or kills/hurts your friend. You decide to get revenge. In the end, you kill him with some cool (haha) phrase, while your team gives out lulas to an entire army. Well, that's normal, that's what happens in almost all films of the so-called "B" category.
In principle, the beginning of the film, you can say, rests on Wesley Snipes. For reference, suddenly who does not know: he just got out of prison, where he spent 3 years for tax evasion. I think his return will please us all, because the guy is quite famous. And it is clear that he is starving for all this: the guy shines with charm and charisma, which can not be said about other members of the team. In principle, Wesley probably thinks that this is one of his few chances to return to the movies.
I am glad that men are not afraid to laugh at themselves. There is a lot of self-irony in the film, maybe even more than in the previous parts. It’s very exciting, even if it’s very good.
It’s a strange role for Antonio Banderas. We didn’t expect a character like that for him. Our hot Spaniard has been turned into some pathetic, frankly delivering clown. But Mel Gibson pleased — probably the most charismatic and adequate villain of the trilogy.
You know what the movie was missing? Blood. He has the same problem as with Hercules: there is action, he is good, beautiful and dynamic, but there is a terrible lack of these beautiful splashes. Remember the past parts: as BSE was beautiful and spectacular, the fights and grabbed attention. Here, of course, everything is on level, but in some places this bloodless battle seems like a circus. It is clear that this is played on fees: after all, who cares about satisfying the existing fanbase, when so many potential ticket buyers can not fulfill their sacred duty? The problem was definitely in the “R” rating, and not that half of the 12- and 13-year-olds in the world you just don’t care.
It was a good idea to include a young guard. The tricks that were done once or twice before are no longer given with that ease. And then comes to the rescue failed Hercules, former boxing champion, UFC champion and others.
In general, the film is not bad, you can watch for a tick, but do not expect anything special and supernatural - you saw it in the distant first part.

A two-hour action-attraction with the participation of the best heroes of militants does not expect you. Not once.
I watched this film in the middle of the night, so to speak, decided to please myself with a cheerful action movie before going to bed, but the time of watching only thought that I needed to watch something else. Although the beginning of the film pleased me and I thought that the next better, but again mistaken. Expendables 3 is complete nonsense and it is very offensive.
Actors. Actors! What happened to you? How did you even agree to do this? Oh. Right! The money. And indeed, during the viewing with the naked eye you can see how much the actors try to shove more green papers into their pockets than to please their audience with an excellent action. Oh, sorry, I mean, you can see how Sylvester Stallone shoves himself deep into his unstoppable place almost whole, curled up in a long tube, most of the budget. Stallone took on 4/4 screen time, for which we see how cool he is, how much everyone loves and respects him, that even Antonio Banderas is ready to bury all his long-term acting, curvature and dancing in front of him, so that Sylvester still crammed deep and his small piece of budget. It is very, very sad and painful to see how actors for the sake of money, and not for the sake of an idea, as it was in the first and second parts, are ready to dance to the tune of the main, god-like screenwriter. Look closely! Watching the films of the mountain of Alexander Nevsky, we all see how much he is cool, how actors of different sizes are almost blouchob ready to meet him on the set, for the sake of their multi-dollar salary. So, Stalone in The Expendables 3 played Alexander Nevsky, and if he counted on this role, he coped with it perfectly.
But it's time to talk about the movie. What about him? The old guard of the best mercenaries on the planet, again, cracks down on the most powerful evil on the planet. This time the evil played Mel Gibson, and in the film he is terrible, insidious and in every sense of the word dangerous. Oh, my God, my knees were annoying when I wrote his name. The most audacious and cruel antagonist of all time and peoples, and the team of the Expendables urgently need to destroy him, by any means, as long as he is dead, because he is dangerous, Cautionfully, a possible spoiler, in which case do not read him, if they did not see the film, and that he will be able to say a bad thing on your perception even after that. What did he do? Why he is so bad, it is not clear, we unfortunately did not explain it, but we were shown a folder that contains all the evidence of guilt, cruelty and malicious omnipotence. We were not allowed to read this folder, because they showed a couple of photos from it and OK, I still believe that Stonebanks! a negative character.
The main participants in the battles of the first and second in the film, in the third part, are almost absent, most likely due to the greed of the producers, one of the old guard is even almost killed, probably to deprive him of a monetary bonus. Don’t think that I’m a Jew and just know how to count other people’s fees, no, it’s just during the viewing I formed this opinion, and I even continue to believe that I’m right! The film was leaked on the Internet (how carelessly they treated its creation) and this significantly affected the box office, so they need it. No one has to pay for it, but they have twice won their budget, and that’s sad again.
Barney Ross decided to create a new team of unstoppables under the pretext that the old one got him. Fuck Barney! Tired of the old team, get out of it and don't come back, and let me see Gunnar, Christmas, Cesar and the rest of the straight guys kicking bad villains on their sinful asses. But no, after Barney left the band, we are shown absolutely ridiculous scenes of him recruiting a new team of young, low-paid actors. Horrible!
Okay. It is possible that the quality of the film was so badly affected by the PG-13 rating. There is no blood, there is no dismemberment, there is almost no action, that is, a 2-hour slurred p**h Sylvester Stalone, which continues and continues and continues... (Everything for kids to watch!) A boring film, all really powerful actors, for their participation in the third part, I am sorry, my killed 2 hours of life I also feel sorry, although no, even good that I spent them watching this film, because in this way I saw something, something not good, I just got tired of writing the same thing. Bravo Stallone! Bravo director, screenwriters and distributors! Thanks to you, Expendables 3 go straight to my collection of bad movies.
In general, the third part, the assessment
3 out of 10
And they're going to do The Expendables 4. Okay...we'll see.
And a little postscript. Just a week ago I had a dream, as I watch Expendables 3 and I will tell you honestly, while watching this film in my dream, he even then seemed to me a complete failure shit. Strange as it is, but my sleeping mind did not deceive me.
From the first part it was: “Fantastic!” Really? We have to see.” When the second part came out, there were emotions, something like, ‘Well, the second part has to be even cooler!’ Remind me what happened first! Don't you remember? Come on, let's see, anyway. When the third part was announced, even I was once an ardent fan of the militants of the 80s, on which we, the children of the 80s and 90s, actually grew up, said with some fatigue - "OK, we'll see." And so one Saturday night, a year later, I remembered that there was a third part about the unstoppable, and I started watching it. I will tell you right away, friends, the film came out great - a lot of broken teeth and broken bones, many were stabbed, many more were shot and twenty people blew up. Did I like the movie? Definitely! As they say, “He made my night.”
Obviously, the plot in the film is uncomplicated, and I did not follow him very much, whether it is necessary to follow the plot when Stallone, and Schwarzeneger, and Snipes, and Stetham, and Lundgren, and Gibson, and Banderos, and Ford, and Lee run for you - that's what we follow. The story there is this: at the beginning of the film, a group of irresistibles pull out of the prison their friend, a veteran from the gang by the nickname “Doctor Death”, he is brilliantly played by Wesley Snipes, who, by the way, himself not so long ago released from prison. And here's the gang, and it's time to catch the bad guy, but Stallone breaks them all up... and then watch for yourself. I can only say that I was a little upset that as an antagonist here Mel Gibson, as in the second part, I also expected Van Damme to be a good uncle. Perhaps one of the main claims to this franchise (or better to say the franchise) that someone is “resurrection” in the role of positive characters, and someone so – a villain. In the first part there was Eric Roberts, well, he always played some nasty and disgusting types, but in the next parts you could invite to the role of villains, for example, Bolo Yong or Carey-Hiroyuki Tagawa. But as it is, it is.
I also want to note that the third part of the best (forgive me, but it is there) directing and more or less clear plot. From the first part I am waiting, and I think that these cool guys, as representatives of their layer (generation / wave) of cinema, should have put a punctuation mark, implying the end of an era. But now the continuation of "The Expendables 4" has been announced, and the punctuation mark is only commas. Like an artist who was summoned for an encore, then stopped being called, and he keeps coming out and out, the viewer does not whistle out of respect for the artist, but still claps while he nods. That's how you play. After all, get out while you can.
What are these movies for? Yes, just to sit with friends and cook, remember your childhood and youth, and look at these polishers. But seriously speaking, it becomes sad, because there is not much to come ... and look at them - the old people still please us, they are trying. And we should appreciate that. Not for the sake of money, I do not think that this is the main goal, but only for us, only for the tenderness of our audience hearts.
Good movie!
The first part was nostalgically beautiful, in the second the actors themselves laughed at themselves, at their eternal roles of unkillable heroes, but as it turned out in vain, in the third they again became themselves, and even added brutal primitiveness.
There's no Hollywood team here, just Stallone's bloated ego and only a few on the hook. Banderas is ridiculous, I felt sorry for him, Jet Lee sat for a few seconds behind the machine gun, the rest also flashed no more than a minute, in the focus of Stallone and his eyebrows house. It's a total deception, coupled with disappointment.
The action is terrible, the opening scene, which should standardly be one of the most spectacular, was primitively dull, then only worse - more than the sex of the film, the viewer is forced to listen to template dialogues, which by their playfulness caused only chuckles, then the battle of ten against the army, there is no comment at all, although I note the girl, she moved well.
It's full of all sorts of scripted carelessness. For example, when there was a tough selection for the team, Barney chose a girl when she had two drunks in a bar, full of shit. The task was to take the villain alive, as a result, this was forgotten and everyone jumps together in the helicopter, scoring on everything, the character of Ford was simply pulled by the ears.
Separately insulting for Schwartz, he is not respected at all.
I will not recommend the film for viewing, this is a typical Hollywood slag that sucks money at the expense of names - the reception is primitive, like the picture itself.
With the third part of the old-school saga “The Expendables”, which got its start thanks to the tenacity and enthusiasm of Sylvester Stallone, a new director worked once again. If the first filmed all the same ageless spirit ex-Rocky and Rambo, the second took up Simon West, the creator of a strong and whiplashy action movie "Air Prison" with the brilliant then Nicholas Cage, but the third part was handed by inexperienced Patrick Hughes, who, however, achieved significant success with the short film "Signs", but his first full-length work - "Red Hill" - left much to be desired, but Stallone believed in him, but only it was slightly ambiguous. Stallone can swear as much as he wants for the box office failure in the homeland of video pirates, but the fact that “The Expendables 3” turned out to be the dullest and weakest part of the trilogy is an indisputable fact.
And it seems that everything went along the same path as the previous "Expendables": a huge number of stars, which now may not be the best times, but still the mass audience remembers and loves them. What is worth only the appearance in the franchise Mel Gibson. It is now, thanks to the media, his authority has fallen in the eyes of the public, but for many he remains a magnificent and unsurpassed actor who gave the joy of the whole world “Braveheart” and “Lethal Weapon”, took possession of women’s hearts for “What Women Want”, was a model of brutal mafiosi-lone in “Payback” and a decent number of different images was Gibson and many people think that his sun has not yet set beyond the sky. Wesley Snipes, who served time in prison for tax evasion, returned to the audience again in Expendables 3 and even dared to joke when his character was asked why he was behind bars. In general, the “old guard” is still with such gunpowder in powder magazines that even the most profitable and successful film studios could eat ties with envy. Stallone knows how to convince.
The reason for some decline of the conceived epic from Stallone lies, most likely, in the small experience of Patrick Hughes. For a while you notice that a new breath has appeared in the Expendables, but very soon it exhales. When the massacre begins with explosions, shootings, fist fights and knives, you already feel the hand of Sylvester Stallone. Following a trodden path, The Expendables 3 has demarcations in scenes where all known actors are smashed into small heaps, and they are fighting their own battle with an opponent. Everyone has their own cards, they are displayed in the possession of combat skills. In theory, this is correct, because to have all the significant performers in one frame is a great luxury, each of them has both charisma and his own preferences, so a general unification could lead to the effect of running eyes. And it is right that the action that began here and there flashes the image of a small war, that is how it was conceived according to the general principle and trend of the Expendables. Only many wanted more “coolness”, something enchanting, and not similarity to the previous parts of “The Expendables”.
But the most interesting thought in the plot of the film was the most unacceptable for the franchise. Stallone partners decided to infuse new and young blood. Among the recruits were Glen Powell, Victor Ortiz, Rhonda Rowsey (a real fighting lady who takes part in real fights without rules among women, however, as an actress she is, to put it mildly, raw) and Kellan Lutz. With a comparative look at them and at those who make up the backbone of the “old guard”, the scales lean to the latter with an overwhelming advantage. It was not easy for beginners to outshine their older colleagues at all, but even this “somewhat” was not possible for them. The idea was to join the character of Antonio Banderas, but he was able to create an unforgettable image of a talker and at the same time a valiant soldier. And leaving the recruits behind, it can be argued that Stallone, Statham, Ford, Schwarzenegger, Lundgren pull on their “senile” shoulders the whole movie “The Expendables 3”. For the most part, they are pleasant to look at, a little nostalgic, but also note that many paintings with a solid set of artists can envy their collective experience. And, the most interesting thing is that one of them is not special: each has its own characteristics, each brings something to the film. It is evident that Stallone tried here, who gave the creation of images to experienced and famous colleagues at his mercy.
As a spectacle, as entertainment, as an opportunity to nostalgically recall many of the action films of his era, "The Expendables 3" are well suited for viewing, and even with such a collection of celebrities. But the attempt to inject new blood with the young actors was not successful, and, for sure, it had special hopes.
7 out of 10
P.S.: And with all this, at the same time, many who negatively perceived the third part will necessarily look at the fourth.
