Behind two rabbits and the script ragged threads ... A children’s writer lives in a glorious Central Asian city, writes books that read to the younger generation, but the past, in which the opponents of the Soviet regime broke his life, does not give him peace. Friends are trying to figure it out and help.
The film is made in the spirit of a detective. Film studios in Central Asia have always shot their films in a leisurely, even soft directing, where there was always some warmth and this film was no exception. Two episodes are not long, look easy, but the writers failed. On the one hand, it was 1988, when the country was in full swing of perestroika, but on the other hand, the authorities are still communists. Therefore, the script should please both yours and ours. There is essentially no ideology in the film, except for the formation of Soviet power in the village, where a progressive teacher brings light to illiterate people, and she is hampered by local bais led by a mullah and the image of a modern teacher, a kind of Pavka Korchagin of the Central Asian spill. In favor of perestroika, a dilapidated structure is shown, which the kolkhoz cannot repair, the hands do not reach, and a bad local resident, a descendant of the bay, is going to repair it and make a teahouse there. But no amount of perestroika, acceleration and new thinking does not change the fact that the audience watching the film must understand what is happening. According to the memoirs of the main character, some people dear to him in childhood died, but they are alive and well, and how they managed to get out of trouble remained a mystery.
