I read an article about Lev Kuleshov and became curious to look at him in his youth.
The first 20 minutes were tough. These white clothes, painted eyes, some kind of awkward environment (there is a scene in which a girl from a wealthy family sleeps on the bed standing to the right of the stairs). It’s like being in a corridor.
And then I didn't see myself getting carried away.
The love triangle daughter - mother - mother boyfriend. There are no negative or positive characters. Everyone loves and everyone is unhappy.
In the end, a powerful scene of explanation.
The characters are very well revealed. Intuitively, you know what happens at the end. But this, oddly enough, is a plus, not a minus of the film.
I did not like the epilogue and the line with the girl’s disease.
The hero wants to marry a widowed woman 10 years ago, and she carefully hides their relationship from an adult daughter, afraid to hurt her feelings. Like, she loved her father very much.
