Almost Schweiger. We used to say “Mattias Schweighöfer” and meant “Til Schweiger” because Matthias had long been in the shadow of his older friend, playing the role of the protagonist’s best friend in Thiel’s films. And so our boy grew up, gained experience and made his own movie with him in the role of Thiel Schweiger. Or rather, it's me. Of course, not Thiel Schweiger, but the main character, who could well star in the role of this very character. Particularly picky can even try to find ten differences between the cynical journalist and the womanizer Ludo from "Beauty" and the serious relationship assistant in breakups Paul of "Schlussmacher". They would be happy if they found at least five. Because all the time watching you will not leave the feeling that on the screen another “Beauty”, well, or at least “Seductress”. It seems that the films were even shot in the same scenery, inherited by Matthias from Thiel. And the scene in the toilet and footage of Schweighoefer’s bewildered face framed by the rim of the toilet directly send hello to the toilet adventures of his character from “Beauty 2”. The same apartments in Prenzlauer Berg, the same neighborhood of Alexander Platz and the same fun soundtrack from English-language pop music.
The main character, of course, will first sell his soul for career growth, and then buy it back, drink more than one liter of vodka, eat more than one kilogram of French fries and meet a lot of creepy, but cute freaks on his way. One of them will become his companion for the duration of the film and will make an invaluable contribution to the rebirth of a burned cynic and careerist into a poor romantic, singing serenades under the door of his beloved and realizing the lowness of his own fall in pursuit of profit. We have seen all of this before.
But maybe it's not that bad. At least, the viewer, accustomed to one of the main roles of Schweighöfer, will not leave disappointed. And the music is really good, and the morality is there in the right amount, and the views of Berlin have a lot of incomparable charm. And why is it me, one Berlin will not end: there will be Frankfurt and the surroundings, driving on the highways and falling into the abyss. Maybe not as funny as falling on the wedding table of Vladimir Klitschko, but much more dramatic.
