Following the mysterious legends of the Pearl of tourist Belarus Nesvizh region is one of the charming corners of Belarus with an unusually rich history. Many poetic legends, legends and legends were born here. It is no coincidence that this small provincial city became the place of the ancestral nest of the Radziwill princes - one of the most famous European dynasties that had extensive possessions in modern Poland, Lithuania, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Western Europe. About the sights of this region in a fascinating form is told by a 39-minute documentary-staged picture shot in August 2012 by the Belarusian Video Center.
We must pay tribute to the director Anastasia Miroshnichenko, who with such trepidation and skill approached the embodiment of the idea of popularizing one of the pearls of the Belarusian region. In the "Legends of Nesvizh Castle" amazingly combined artistic and documentary component. The first, embodied in the story of the fate of the last owner of the castle - a representative of the Radziwill family, serves as a link between many legends of Nesvizh, which in the film are represented by more than a dozen.
The film collected the most interesting legends of the ancient city, many of which became a wide asset only due to the active activity of local historians. By bits of stories of old-timers and scraps of ancient chronicles, they recreated the history of Nesvizh, the princes of the Radziwills and ... the whole country. From this film you will learn about the secrets of the Radziwill treasures, the mysteries of the ancient castle, the sudden disappearance of the whole monastery at the bottom of the lake, the mores of the Nesvizh princes, the beautiful legend of the Nesvizh castle ghost - "Black Lady", go down to the cold basements of the family tomb with its chilling mysteries.
The most famous is the story of the treasures of the Radzivilols: 12 golden apostles, collections of valuable European paintings, etc. Many of them have mysteriously disappeared and are still being sought today. See, by the way, the feature film “Traces of the Apostles”. Others are kept in museums in Russia, Poland, Germany and, of course, they are unlikely to want to return them to their homeland. There are many legends in the film and about the unhappy love of separated lovers. The most popular of which is the legend of Black Panna Nesvizh. This is a tragic and at the same time romantic love story of the King of Poland and the Grand Duke of Lithuania Zhigimont August and Barbara Radziwill, which contemporaries called “Juliet of the Belarusian Middle Ages”. According to the testimony of those who work in the castle, there are frequent cases of the appearance of White Panna today. During the reconstruction of the castle in the early 2000s, she appeared as a worker several times, warning of something sinister, and then it really came true. By chance, I think everyone decides for themselves. One of the legends tells the true story of a cursed family whose twelve children died at an early age. The last – the thirteenth – daughter managed to live to sixteen years and was already preparing for the wedding. The mother did not believe that fate finally had mercy on her, and therefore sent her daughter Caroline to another castle. However, the old woman-death still took her.
The film is very interesting, informative and looks in one breath. One legend follows another, striking with its improbability and sinisterness, so that the viewer simply does not have time to take a breath. It is a pity that because of this, each of the legends is not given much time. But for those who are interested, I advise you to turn to the same books by K. Y. Shishigina-Pototskaya. According to the director, “Legends of Nesvizh Castle” are focused on popularizing the history of the Belarusian region and its heritage, including among foreign tourists, whom the mysterious gates of Nesvizh Castle see more than one hundred thousand annually. This film is doing a great job.
