How small our world is and how many coincidences there are. . Over the high mountains, behind the far forests ... With these words begins a fairy tale, shown in the film "Robber and Princess", in which a young and simple-minded robber named Lotrando will have to cure the daughter of the sultan Zubayda, the local Nesmeyan. It will not cure the head from the shoulders, as is customary with the sultans. But for an hour and a half the film tells not about the process of treatment, but about the accidents of this world, pleasant and not so, which will necessarily lead to a happy ending. As one of the characters said, “How small is our world, and how many coincidences there are!” And it is coincidences, ridiculous and ridiculous, that will lead Lotrando, a Czech robber, to be sent to the east to meet the princess.
The film “Robber and Princess” is not a fashionable fantasy, but a classic fairy tale with an easily guessable ending, but therefore no less pleasant. Light unobtrusive humor with an admixture of satire, the kindness of the characters and smiling faces constantly flashing in the frame give the viewer a good mood and a desire to watch until the end, despite the general predictability of the story. This film, shot not so long ago, is very similar to the old fairy tales of the 60s - a little faded colors, picturesque places and outfits, charming actors, funny chants and a slightly specific flavor; and all this together pleases the eye and warms the soul. But the main thing is that it has the sincerity that modern cinema sometimes lacks.
Everything in this story is close to reality - there are no dragons or magic rings, no magicians or elves - but everything in it is imbued with the spirit of a fairy tale. After all, only in a fairy tale can the son of a robber grow up to be such a simple-minded and naive good-natured person, and the princess - a sweet girl without prejudices; and only in a fairy tale can the ambassadors of the sultan with their camels find themselves in the forests of the Czech Republic in search of a doctor for the sultan's daughter; and, of course, all these events can only be weaved together in a fairy tale. But the story itself, built on coincidences, gives a good mood and inspires optimism, forcing the viewer to let a miracle into his heart, to believe that nothing is impossible, and a chain of accidents not only in cinema, but also in life can lead to a wonderful and very even fabulous ending.
