sea There comes a moment in the life of almost every person when the soul "dictates" the mind, when there is a need to address eternal questions, questions faith.
Who is God? Is it simply the concept of absolute good, or is it a Higher Power incomprehensible to human reason?
If there is Good, then there is that which opposes it-Evil, many-faced, insidious, false, changeable, hiding under different guises, elusive and often attractive. It is very easy to be evil, no effort should be made, it is enough just to live for your pleasure and indulge your whims.
Being kind is very difficult and difficult, it is the way of eternal struggle, with oneself, with the world around us, a struggle that is exhausting, often ineffective.
Mani Ratman made the right move, showing the history of the confrontation between the heroes who initially converted to Christianity, because, in my opinion, no other religion in the world, does not reflect this eternal confrontation so clearly. Good and Evil, Christ and Satan, Light and Darkness
In Christianity, everything is simple and complex at the same time, and one can serve only one God, the God of Love and Light, or the God of Darkness and Death. “Yes, yes” or “no, no,” the third is not given, you are either with God or with Satan, and this struggle, which does not cease for a moment, goes for the heart of man, everyone and constantly.
Sam and Bergmans, two antipodes, two ministers, but they serve different powers and in different ways. One brings Light and Love, the other Darkness and Death.
One helps and saves, the other kills, sowing death and chaos. He is unfamiliar with feelings of compassion and gratitude, only an evil, destructive force leads him to “victory”.
For Bergmans, evil is all-powerful and invincible, the main thing is not to allow even the slightest sympathy and forgiveness into your heart, the heart should be stone, cold and impenetrable. This is the only way to win and conquer. fear and power are the main driving components in his life, and in life in general, as he understands it.
An interesting solution, in my opinion, was found by M. Ratman when choosing actors for these two antipode images. Sam (Arvind Swami), kind, calm, unperturbed, a little heavy, unhurried, with eyes full of sympathy, absolutely convinced of his Rightness, the Rightness of Him whom he serves, His Commandments and Orders.
Bergmans (Arjun), bright, charismatic, toned, swift, externally attractive, but tough beauty, when facial features are correct, but devoid of spirituality, some frozen “beauty”.
A person with little knowledge of physiognomy will find it difficult to understand the true nature of these characters, and the first, purely external, sympathy may be on Bergmans' side. How many such people are now, successful, business-like, collected, fit, knowing what they want and firmly pursuing their goal. And the fact that they often go over corpses, in the literal sense of this expression, is, as it were, secondary.
Bergmans, the image is sharply negative, characteristic, pronounced and vividly played, without halftones and shades, "heavy" black paint is the color of Darkness and Death.
Surrounded by a submissive retinue of fearful, frightened to death people.
Sam. The way of Christ, the way of love, kindness and forgiveness. Often misunderstood and ridiculed, humiliated and beaten, loyal and despised, but also convinced, firm, holy and strong in his faith.
Thomas. A little boy who from childhood knew pain and humiliation, cold and hunger, contempt and rejection. Who could have grown and grown up? A vicious wolf who knows only how to survive, who did not know love and sympathy, who saw in others only offenders, but not people.
His meeting with Sam is proof that God is “concerned” about the fate of each person, no matter how outcast as Thomas or outcast as Bergmhans, he was not.
A wonderful work by debutant Gautam Kartik. It is great that Destiny gives you such a professional start - an interesting, dramatic and expressive role, and a talented mentor in the face of the famous and eminent director Mani Ratman.
Gautam fully, in my opinion, justified the trust, lived the life of his hero, brightly, vividly, emotionally, sincerely and reliably.
It was his heart and soul that became the arena of a life-and-death struggle, whether his soul would live for God or die while living for Satan.
The whole range of feelings, emotions, experiences and states that Thomas experienced and felt, the actor Gautam showed with amazing skill and strength for the debutant. Very promising debut!
The image of Thomas can be described for a long time, because it is the image-becoming of the Personality, the image-birth of Man in himself, the image-finding of Faith and the Meaning of Life, the image-choice of the Way and Whom to go.
Beatrice. An angel image, pure and bright, airy and elusive, carrying some unearthly grace and beauty. Such an unearthly-earthly girl will be able to melt the “ice” of any soul, with her warmth and warmth, her dedication and sincerity. Trusting, open, joyful and playful, like a child, open to the world and people, loved by everyone and loving everyone. It is impossible not to love her, and having loved her, you can no longer think of life without her.
No less talented debut Tulasi Nair, bright and memorable. The scene in the hospital, when the heroine is shaken by nervous tremors, is played so realistically that this tremor is transmitted to the viewer and there is not even a shadow of doubt that this is the real state of the young actress in this episode. This is what is called “dissolve in the image” completely and without residue.
The final frames of the film are symbolic. A solemn procession on the occasion of a great Christian holiday and in this elegant column, behind the figure of Christ, are the main characters of the film.
I want to believe that now and until the end of life is their way, the way for Christ, the way for Love, Goodness, Light and Justice! And no life circumstances and difficulties will force them to turn away from this chosen and suffering Path.
