The film at all costs, still, in the end, remained perceptibly good and naive, even despite the farce, which is called black, it means something not to finish, it is bloodthirsty, up to dismemberment, against the background of which love is brewing, so dissonant, but real.
The main character, Ariana, a judge and a workaholic, with career principles, like no men and, therefore, family, she gives all her time to work and only her. On New Year’s Eve, at a corporate party, she was forced by her colleagues to pretend to be a normal person, but without much experience in this, she overdosed with alcohol, which led to an uneventful accident, to an unplanned pregnancy. Now she is tormented by questions - what happened at the ill-fated party and most importantly, who is the father, her answers clearly will not please her.
Comedy with elements of farce, for me, is doubly funny, especially if they did not overstep the stick with disheartening the viewer, so to speak, “farsing” events. The film is dominated by black humor, which, however, sometimes shocking, you need to get used to it, but there are other jokes of a softer nature, both really funny, can not only smile, but sometimes laugh, in general, given the fact that I even manage to divide the humorous component of the film into categories, it seems to me that this is a high indicator or even the achievement of the picture as a comedy, because the jokes are really large, which can not but please.
What is most interesting, against the background of this farce and black humor, we are told not just another, albeit not typical, love story, but also try to promote family values, slightly mocking or showing the inexpediency of the desire of modern women to bend at work, so to speak, to make a career, instead of making children. There are other moralizing aspects, such as herd judgment about a person and the like, everything is presented clearly and easily accessible form.
I also liked the acting, which was on top and this applies not only to the main characters, but also to secondary characters who managed to laugh even more, they did not need to play love, the task was one, to make the viewer laugh, which they managed more than enough.
The film will be recommended for viewing, this is a typical picture for French cinema, but not familiar to the eyes of viewers fed on Hollywood films, it can really laugh and even scare in places with its frank anatomy, here the main thing is not to get lost and get used to and then the degree of your mood will only steadily grow, which will necessarily lead to enthusiastic results of viewing, so at least it happened to me, what I wish you!!
The French fight for fertility with the help of black comedies
Unmarried judge Ariana Felder, 45, a typical blue stocking with strict moral principles, spends 90% of her time at work. But after drinking a glass of champagne at a New Year’s Eve corporate party, Ariana goes into all seriousness, losing first control over herself, and then the memories of that crazy night. Six months later, she finds out she is pregnant. Using her official position, Ariana conducts an operational investigation, thanks to which she finds out from whom, in fact, she flew. And she realizes with horror that she would rather not do it. I mean, I didn't recognize ...
Like Boys and Guillaume to the Table!, it’s not just a comedy, it’s an absolutely crazy farce with black humor and crazy guignole jokes. But despite this, “9 months of strict regime” paradoxically try to defend unshakable family values. Despite the seeming absurdity, this is a very original script move, which, perhaps, did not greatly increase the falling birth rate in France, but, at least, drew attention to the film itself, which gathered more than two million viewers in cinemas of this country. After last year's triumphant procession around the world "Untouchables" (we have "1 + 1"), the French, it seems, seriously took up the revival of the comedy genre.
Having lowered the degree of romance, they focused on grotesque and burlesque, parody and satire, caricature and caricatures. The results did not hesitate to affect: two very similar in spirit pictures - already mentioned "Boys and Guillaume, to the table!" (we have "Me, again me and my mother") and "9 months of strict regime" (a difficult to translate the original name in some ages prompted our distributors to come up with a very cute idiomatic version of the translation) - contested the 2014 main French film award, claiming in the first case 10, and in the second - 6 "Cesars", including the best film.
The son of a dentist, 49-year-old Albert Dupontel, who played a bunch of comedy characters, from time to time puts as a director crazy comedies. But none of them were as good as this one. Caught courage, Dupontel, apparently, decided to stop at nothing. By portraying French litigation as a collection of degenerates and idiots, the national media as sensation-hungry vampires, and the old ladies as God’s dandelion-obsessed dandelions, Dupontelle showed a world that had gone completely off the rails. He allowed himself not only easily recognizable gags, parodying, for example, “The Silence of the Lambs”, but also purely cell jokes, engaging in the wordless micro-role of the sign language interpreter “the silent Oscar-bearer”. Jean Dujardin or giving "jobs" to his two brothers in the shop, Jan Kuhnen and Gaspar Noe, in the roles of moronic prison lesson.
And inviting to the role of Ariana phlegmatic-melancholic Sandrine Kiberlain (who has long been ascetic in acting in French cinema, but until now the stars from the sky were not enough, remaining in the shadow of the successes of his much more successful husband - actor Vincent Lyndon), Dupontel revealed it from the still unusual side, forcing to shine with new colors, the presence of which Cyberlain no one seems to have even guessed. Therefore, I venture to assume that this - fiftieth - the role of the actress, which brought Cyberlain the long-awaited "Cesar", may turn out to be a turning point in her career, promising in the near future to work in new unusual roles. One thing is saddening that in Russia this black comedy has suffered a complete fiasco, gathering in our cinemas about ... two hundred people!
An encouraging bright picture, blackish humor and sexual overtones, the beginning results in a monotonous and boring mass. The plot and the idea in this kind of comedy is not the main thing. This is a comedy of situations based on acting talent. No interesting situations, nor even more acting talent in the picture. There is a set of standard stamps, flat jokes and talentless superficial acting. For some reason, underplaying and exploiting the role, someone seems funny. I don't understand that. And besides, as it often happens in such films, the second half becomes a melodrama from comedy, which in my opinion spoils comedies. The ending is stupid. In general, maybe it will suit someone for the background, but in the movie I would not recommend this.
They will be with their friends, and they will be with them. Someone more often, someone less often, but everyone spent their leisure time in this way, and almost always there is a unique personality among the audience, who does not know the measure and often gets into various kinds of troubles. If you have friends nearby, and if you don’t... The main character had no friends.
Careful, strict, executive, young enough for the position, Ariana does not think herself outside of work. On personal life was long ago put an end, because in childhood the future little judge completely and completely disappointed in the opposite field. But the New Year comes, and imperceptibly champagne disappears glass by glass, and from it so wraps his head ... In general, the night of January is covered with a haze of oblivion, well, what could happen in a few hours? For example, a child... This is where the real story begins.
A little later it turns out that the father of the boy is a dangerous maniac, who was operating at that time, just his case is being conducted by our heroine. As an experienced viewer has already guessed, after a fateful meeting, events begin to spin at a breakneck speed, invariably exposing the main characters to fools.
9 months of strict regime - a comedy with a simple plot, which is nevertheless quite capable of disinhibiting and even laughing (recently it is good if you smile at the so-called "comedies"). No one promises you to take the bar set by the best French works, but a strong middle peasant looks very good.

From time to time, the French can so “ignite” in the comedy genre – that there is no claim to either a completely farcical illogical plot, or to simple detective intrigue – it’s just homerically funny. Personally, I haven't laughed in a while. Although, I suspect this humor is not suitable for everyone.
The creator of the picture is a screenwriter, director, lead actor Albert Dupontel, playing a cute burglar Bob Nolan, who is facing a life sentence for a terrible crime - he allegedly cut off the rich old man, whom he robbed, all the limbs "Bulgarian", and at the same time ate his eyes. So now he is called an “eye-eater” – and is condemned by ordinary people on all TV channels – only a venerable criminal supports him, calling him a “true genius”.
Judge Ariana Felner is the main character of the picture, a careerist and a cracker, in her 40s she thinks only of work, and men are deeply despised. However, on New Year’s Eve at a corporate party in the Palace of Justice, the girl is so filled with champagne that she does not remember anything at all. And only six months later, after a slight malaise, she discovers that she is pregnant. At first, she suspects a smiling colleague, who for some reason always builds her eyes - and beats him with a golf club on the head (he still gets - the poor guy is not lucky) to get a DNA test. But the father suddenly turns out to be a stranger – namely, the same Bob Nolan, whom everyone considers a terrible maniac-eye-eater.
Let me warn you right away – the humor in the picture is rude, not at all subtle, moreover – it is black, and even very black. But it's wild, homerically funny. Everything is filmed so dynamically that you simply do not have time to follow all the gags and jokes. Especially the creators succeeded in a scene where Bob Nolan suggests how the old man cut himself - his fantasy goes so far that the old man is cut into pieces kitchen appliances, and his eyes are drilled into a mixer, in general - a farce he is a farce.
The famous Jean Dujardin starred in the role of a television sign language translator, as if he parodied the silent “Artist”.
“9 Months of Maximum Security” is one of those unrealistic comedies that make you laugh and when it ends quickly, leave you wondering why I laughed so much. On what? Is it really about "fun self-harm"? Or how the judge ruined her entire career, demonstrating in the courtroom how she orally entertained with the “eye-eater”?

The famous French actor and director Albert Dupontel decided to make a commercial film on the classic plot of “cops-thieves”, seasoning it with traditional black humor and crazy drive. He invited a pregnant judge Sandrine Kimberlan to the lead role, and he tried on the skin of a notorious recidivist. As a result, it turned out such a mix that even fans of cinema from Dupontel are surprised how he was able to capture the audience.
Of course, the matter is incendiary and a sufficient number of gags per square centimeter: you just do not have time to laugh at one find, as immediately you are covered by a new wave. And at the same time, it seems that Dupontel does not invent anything new: in fact, everything is done according to the laws of the genre, where even minor hooliganisms in the face of the director’s friends: Gaspar Noe, Jean Dujardin and Terry Gilliam fit. So in the end, we see a certain Shirley Myrli in French, in a good sense of the word, modern, fascinating and funny.
I'm not going to say that you're going to have a traditional French comedy, but the kind of French comedy that Dupontelle is going to play for us has a right to exist. And in proof of this is the unconditional success at home - 2.5 million viewers and nominations for Cesar, including in all major nominations.
This is definitely an event and should not be missed.
