The plot of course is still the same, so confusing that the devil himself will break his leg, in general, during the viewing I had the impression that here absolutely all the characters are some kind of crazy, all with their bziks, yes, crazy people just need to be sterilized, but it was interesting to see what else these ,ne,a,n,d,er,t,al,y,, sorry, the Netherlands will throw out there. . . 8 out of 10.
Nothing needs to be treated as carefully as the truth.

The Dutch thriller is a piece product, and, therefore, as a rule, high-quality, it is worth remembering, for example, “Loft”, whose Hollywood remake lost points to the original. In the case of Daylight, I want to talk only about the positive qualities of the picture, which include the balanced direction of Dideric Van Rougen, the skillful acting work of Angela Scheif, Monique van de Wen and, undoubtedly, Fedi van Huet. There are a few points in the scenario that may seem counterintuitive, but given the general tension and the stunning final denouement, you either forget about them or just don’t pay attention.
Imagine an artist who, by mixing colors, made a mistake, but without noticing it, continued his work, which now began to play with slightly different colors. However, in the case of Daylight, instead of the wrong shade, there is an accidentally dropped word that will lead to the fact that the usual life of the main character, Iris, a lawyer in a large company, will never be the same. It is worth mentioning that up to this point her life could not be called ordinary - a difficult relationship with her mother, mental problems with her son, who has all the signs of autism, a new client - the son of the head of the company, a confident scoundrel, not afraid of either the criminal code or public opinion. Iris is faced with the fact that everything she knew about her family will now have to be questioned, and she can only trust herself and her autistic brother. Moreover, her brother, Ray, accused of murder, turns out to be much more sane and honest than those who surrounded her before meeting him. Iris will come to understand that she has spent her whole life in the middle of darkness and now she needs to learn to live in daylight, where the surrounding things have completely different colors, more distinct and bright, where shades do not mix, and therefore show their true nature.
“Daylight” is like a puzzle, and in the end, almost all the pieces will fall into place, showing the viewer the true picture of what happened, and it will become clear that secrets buried in the distant past can hurt in the present with a vengeance. And the answer to the question of who can be sacrificed for the happiness of a loved one, everyone will have to look for themselves, and any of the possible options will be immoral in nature, because even hypothetically allowing such a choice, you need to understand that you will have to live with such a decision all your life, and, someday, you will have to answer for it.
Much had to go through the main character - a pretty girl lawyer, part-time single mother very sweet, but unusual child. She discovers a skeleton in her mother’s closet. You could pretend you didn't notice. But the main character is a modern European. It is not very characteristic of the so-called "family tact." Parents are not gods, but elder partners. So we can dig into their skeletons. But my mother asked: stop, do not get in...
In general, the heroine began to investigate and investigated her head. One skeleton was followed by a second, third skeleton. Opened Pandora's chest.
Movies with old secrets and unexpected endings (I don’t know about the others, and I didn’t expect such a solution) – mm, delicious! Daylight is one of them. Not actionable, sometimes a little boring, but keeps the attention, does not let go. There are moving scenes, there are dynamic ones, there are very dramatic ones. In general, the film will give a wide range of emotions. You have to watch!
Pros. A very subtle and complex detective with an intricate plot. Against the background of sluggish gray everyday life, little by little, as on the puzzles that the boy regularly puts together in the film, a picture of the tragedy that once occurred appears. Formed by the time of the narrative in the film, the relationship of the characters is like an incorrectly folded picture, which the main character has to reassemble to see the real, authentic. The picture that is formed is amazing.
Good acting overall, despite some episodic flaws.
Cons. The behavior and decisions that the main character makes, to put it mildly, are surprising. One. Despite the already existing lifelong “hemorrhoids” in the form of a mentally ill child, she embarks on an adventure to get an even worse “hemorrhoid” in the form of an even sicker brother. And all for what? – in the film it seems that for the sake of suddenly arisen from an empty place deep family feelings. But this does not happen, especially in conditions when with each new minute such wild details are revealed about this brother that one wants to quickly, on the contrary, stay as far away from him as possible, and even better - forget about him forever. In any case, do not thrash so thoughtfully in the "cases of days long past." But a detective is a detective. (By the way, the main character is perhaps the only one who causes the least self-pity after watching the film and realizing everything that happened.) It turns out to be used to reflect the difficult fates of all other characters, while she plays a not quite sane role, in which she either does not believe or does not want to believe.
Two. Despite the real threat to the life or health of the main character, she everywhere carries a young child, endangering him as well.
Yes, this film is a thriller, but the tense scenes are made too ridiculous, what is happening is not believed for a second, there was no directorial skill or convincing acting. Especially in the river scene. Perhaps this is how people who grew up in the greenhouse conditions of the Netherlands see similar situations. We’d like to see if there’s anything Hollywood like...
People make decisions differently, all have their own characters, upbringing, worldview, many different things. But it seems to me that in the situation shown in the film, it would be impossible to say, "I never want to see you again." After all, the main character opened, although difficult to perceive, but the truth. And the truth about what a difficult decision had to make at the time very close to you. At the very least, one should respect this decision, the difficult choice he faced, but even more so, the enormous work that was done later to make this decision a reality, so that everything would take place in the most favorable way for all. And after all this, the main character with one phrase almost trampled all this. The classic case “for the sake of a red word, he will not spare his father”; but this is solely the fault of the plot. It’s wonderful, what kind of people there are.
Conclusion. Great movie. Very serious, very deep, very touching. A rare combination of detective, thriller, drama and melodrama. Touches the soul. The final soundtrack is very theme in sound.
"Daylight" is a metaphorical description of the director of the life of his heroes, mired in dirt and lies, yet trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The work of Dutch production is divided into two genres, which, unfortunately, reveal themselves in different ways - thriller and drama.
For the first direction is lacking a lot of things – first of all, thoughtfulness and logic. If the main character, who discovers that she has an autistic older brother, gives public publicity to his legal defense, then why she also rushes to the authorities for help when she and the child begin to be terrorized by unknown people. Here, the director Diderik Van Rougen simply does not find other ways to preserve not just intrigue, but all the characteristics of the thriller.
But with the drama turned out to be much more successful, it turns out, this older brother is accused of murdering his neighbor-mate, the mother of the main character and a prisoner in the hospital refused the latter never once and without visiting him. As the plot develops, we get acquainted with many episodes of human and not quite human behavior of people who, in principle, clearly come not from the head of the director, but from such a theater as real life.
The life of the main character is closely intertwined with the familiar characters from the films "I am Sam" and "Rain Man", pity and compassion, although sometimes seem hypocritical qualities, but they comprehend the viewer while watching this picture. And yet, as the drama of the film realizes itself, those who are familiar with the nuances of the endings "Oldboy" and "Fires", it is possible to feel the same with this film.

It is very difficult to define the genre of this unusual Dutch film. Detective? Absolutely! The intrigue is very tight, and almost to the very end it is unclear what will turn out. Thriller? Maybe. The spiral of psychological conflict is tense to the limit - either burst, then "shot". But most importantly, the detective component is only the background for a subtle psychological drama about other people.
A few words about the plot. A young successful lawyer Iris, the mother of a complex, vulnerable autistic boy, is put in a strict framework: on the one hand, she has a profitable case brewing, but then it turns out that her son is being taken out of school for some time for antisocial behavior; besides, Iris’ mother, who helps her with her son, announces that she is leaving for rest and her daughter will have to somehow cope. It is this coincidence that led the young woman to find out that she has a brother. Who is this brother, whether he really was — the answer from the mother Iris and did not receive. But she was not used to retreating and got involved in a business that dramatically changed her whole life.
... The picture is very harmonious and subtly fits into the mood. By the end of the viewing, you begin to sympathize with absolutely all the characters - some of them were unlucky in life, someone was put in difficult circumstances and turned in the wrong direction. The main character is a strong, but tired young woman, but she finds the core to continue what she started and bring it to the end to find out the truth - any, even the most severe.
I have no doubt that it is very difficult to shoot children in such films, and especially in such roles, but the boy plays amazing.
Autistic Rey is a frighteningly authentic role. He is both terrible and pathetic, and, in the end, evokes sympathy almost to tears.
Perception is also facilitated by a visual range. There is no riot of colors - the film is shot in cool bluish tones, and only scenes of the past change their color tone, reinforcing the impression.
In recent years, detectives have become “not fashionable” to make ends meet, explain every detail, every appearance of a character, the motive for his actions. Sins with these inconsistencies and not fully explained situations and “daylight”. But in general, these small "errors" do not carry an excessive semantic load, do not contradict the actions of the characters and do not interfere with the development of the plot.

Initially, the film attracted me with the theme of autism – “Mmm... Funny,” I thought.
However, the most pleasant surprise was that here you are not only an interesting plot (in other words, the investigation and clarification of the secrets of Ray, brother Iris), but also an amazing acting!
Especially the emotions and acting of Angela (Iris). An amazing woman you believe right away. I hadn’t seen a movie with her before, so she was kind of a revelation to me.
With every second of a banal movie about investigations, the film turns into a confusing story, in which characters with feelings of guilt and hopelessness, heroes with rotten and insensitive hearts and heroes other than everyone (Ray and Aaron) live.
I really got into this story and I can only compare this film to rocking a boat. This way. And we learn a new part of that story. And now we see the new conditions, the other side of the coin.
No more talking, but the end is really worth watching the whole movie.
