Mouse isn't the same. And that's great! Like most people, I first saw this movie at the premiere of Frozen. Even then he caused a storm of positive emotions. I immediately remembered old Disney cartoons, which were watched in childhood on cassettes and a short video about black and white Mouse before the film. How he, along with friends Donald and Gouffy, built a ship that eventually collapsed in a collision with a bottle of champagne.
Agree, it is a good idea to show such short films in front of a full meter. It sets in a good way and gives an additional charge of positive.
The second time I encountered this cartoon was when I wrote an article for the Oscars blog. This is how I first learned that this creation was one of the nominees for the most prestigious award in the field of cinema! And I wasn't just surprised, I was literally stunned. And I have already looked at this short film from the other side.
What do we end up with? Of course, Mickey Mouse is no longer a baby, he is far over 80. Since he first appeared on the screen, a lot has changed in the world. Learned to draw beautiful cartoons, mastered and, I would say, conquered the world of 3D, new technologies appeared, and people themselves have changed a lot.
It would be very strange if Mickey stayed the same. It would testify rather to his backwardness, inability to adapt to the environment. And the director overcomes this with ease: he literally throws Mouse and the company into the real world. And the mouse does everything easily and simply, without creating additional difficulties, takes for granted the mobile, colors, volume, etc.
It was symbolic that in the end they returned to their world, black and white. The ending just captivated me 100 percent.
