"Dumpster." For some reason, first love While reading the first enthusiastic comments, I was strained by the delicate phrase “pleased with the sincerity of the young actors”. So, before watching, I didn’t expect them to play well. But it turned out that they did not really give them anything. Of the main characters of the picture, they received the least screen time. But this circumstance pales in the face of the question that flashes into the mind during the final credits: Why in a film about the love of a boy and a girl, there are only three dialogues between them, during which they say about 30 words to each other? And that's in an hour and a half! Because of this, they are not only not the main characters of the story, but also as a screen pair, are completely cardboard and uninteresting characters.
Only a professional actor can truly cry on the set. Therefore, when dealing with young people, you need to be prepared for the fact that they may not fulfill such a creative task. And in this situation, the scene with a positive pregnancy test could be played differently. But no! Does anyone not understand that when a person in the frame loudly and continuously whines into the pillow, and then raises his head and we do not see any tears or red eyes - this is a real scam? A person either cries with tears or does not cry at all! And this situation could be somehow corrected with the help of editing, if not for the ultra-long plans, and this is a separate story.
The only successful, in my opinion, super-long plan is the scene where Dulma wakes up in the arms of Zhenya. In the first seconds, she is immensely happy, but then she realizes what difficulties their marriage can have because of their parents. From an artistic point of view, this scene is excellent - here I take my hat off. All other ultra-long plans are not artistically justified and simply steal screen time.
If you put all the events in the film in order, you can see that they should have taken 30-40 minutes. Between the moments of the quarrel and the reunion of the lovers lies a script gap that connects them together with a great stretch. Because of this, they finally dissolve against the background of their colorful parents and their complex relationships. Although, this can not be called a relationship, rather it is negative expectations, because there was no open conflict.
It should be noted that there are ironic moments in the film that make you laugh sincerely and they are played wonderfully. But they do not cause interest in what will happen next and stand as if apart from the picture.
Outcome: From the technical side, there are no complaints about the film - the picture and sound are excellent. In this regard, "The Holiday" is the best that we have filmed. But the artistic component is well lame, and the dynamics of action is absent completely.
The score is 4 out of 10 (1 point for a MacBook – it was great).
P.S. A little while after “Otkhonchik,” I revisited “Ulan-Ude Story” (a film I hated to the core) and realized that it wasn’t so bad at all. That's something to think about.
