November 22, 1963 tragically ended the life of US President John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
This film tells the story of Lee Harvey Oswald, the man who killed him and became famous all over the world.
What made a young, 24-year-old former Marine take up arms again? Was Oswald a lone killer, or was someone else behind the crime? These and other questions have been of interest to people for 50 years. Unfortunately, no one knows the exact answer to these questions. There are only assumptions and hypotheses. Nelson McCormick's film The Kennedy Assassination illustrates in detail the very official version (proposed by the Warren Commission) according to which Lee Harvey Oswald shot Kennedy and was killed a few days later by the patriot Jack Ruby.
Among the advantages of the picture, I would like to note, first of all, the selection of actors.
Firstly, the appearance of the actors with real heroes was achieved. Perhaps Greg Kinner ("The Kennedy Clan") looked more like President Kennedy than Rob Lowe. But Will Rothaar looked better as Oswald than Gary Oldman (JFK: Shots in Dallas), who didn’t look like a young, 24-year-old. I was struck by the similarity of Jack Nouzorty (Robert Kennedy) and Ginnifer Goodwin (Jacqueline Kennedy).
Secondly, I liked the acting. This is especially true of Will Rothaar and Ginnifer Goodwin. If Will showed us the tragedy of the “little man” who became a fanatic of his idea of world fame, then Ginnifer showed us a woman who cries for her husband’s infidelities, but still goes to the end out of love for him.
Separately, I would like to highlight Michelle Trachtenberg, who spoke almost the entire film in Russian. Although there was an accent in her speech, she coped with her task “excellently” (even in one of the scenes her character sang “Sleep, my joy, sleep”). If you consider that Michelle’s mother was from the USSR, then you should not be surprised by the fact that the actress speaks fluent Russian. In addition, you can see her growth from an actress (which I personally remember from the hilarious comedy “EuroTour”).
The script, despite the fact that it covered all known facts, still seemed interesting to me. Indeed, this film doesn’t just cover Oswald’s biography from his request at the embassy for Soviet citizenship to his death at Ruby’s hands. It also speaks of the John F. Kennedy family, which in its own way is happy and unhappy.
Many films that are based on real events often make factual mistakes and inaccuracies. In the film “Kinnedy Assassination”, in my opinion, the situation was recreated exactly as in those years (which is an undoubted plus for any historical tape).
Perhaps someone is of the opinion that the president was killed not only by Oswald, but by the US special services, or the USSR. Perhaps the motive for the murder is connected with political activity, or revenge of the underworld. One of the most mysterious murders of the XX century gave rise to a number of hypotheses, versions. Many documentaries have been produced, and only a few feature films. The most famous work of Oliver stone “JFK: Shots in Dallas”, which puts forward a completely different version of the tragedy of November 22, 1963, is not at all the same as in the new film “Kinder Kennedy”.
Be that as it may, The Kennedy Assassination is a wonderful film based on real events, which rather does not lie, but only shows the viewer what this tragedy looks like from the point of view of the “official version”.
