What would happen if... (c) "School project" or "Ideal sisters" has long aroused my curiosity. I finally got to see this movie.
Based on real events. That's a huge plus. As horrible as the story is, it needs to be told. And not as a role model, say, “do the same.” Nope. We have to understand that the worst things don’t happen in horror movies, but in real life. How many terrible events happen behind closed doors, how many destinies collapse every minute, how many people are haunted by night thoughts of suicide while we sleep sweetly in our beds.
In the film "School Project" shows thoughts of murder. Not someone, but their mother. Just think about it! Two sisters, who love each other very much, but suffer daily from the oppressive home environment due to the endless alcoholism of their mother, decide to radically change their lives. Like Raskolnikov in Crime and Punishment, girls gradually come to the idea that their lives will be much better without a mother. There will be no drunken parties, concerned “cougars”, incoherent speech, disgusting pictures, which I do not even want to write about here.
And one day, playing their favorite game, “What Would Happen If...” (the sisters managed to escape reality into their fantasy world), they begin to invent sophisticated murders of their mother. In fact, it makes them laugh. It’s just a joke, a joke...
You know, people don't choose where they're born. Some people ride like cheese in butter since childhood, and some literally have to fight for survival every day. Why is it that someone is lucky enough to find well-being as a given and someone is not? And how much influence on the character of a person external circumstances? And can these circumstances justify the terrible actions of man?
All psychology books teach us one thing: “Happiness is within us.” Nietzsche wrote: “A man is made unhappy or happy only by his thoughts and not by external circumstances.” Hmm. To me, a controversial claim. Put a formerly rich, happy and kind person in unbearable conditions, take everything from him - home, food, money, family. Will he not start stealing or worse? What kind of happiness can we talk about inside ourselves? Yes, sometimes the environment makes us do bad things. But! There's one thing. There is something in every human being that neither upbringing, nor external conditions, nor other people can influence. It is something born with a person, it is his sense of self, his talents, his essence, if you will. This is a kind of inner self-discipline, your own voice, free from fears, pressure from others, imposed stereotypes and other stuff. And that's what you have to listen to. You can't lose him.
Returning to the plot of the film, I can say that I have several friends who have lived in similar conditions since childhood, but who grew up to be good, reasonable and intelligent adults. They learned from the mistakes they saw every day, promising to keep them out of their own family. Instead of drawing conclusions, sisters make an even worse mistake. My mistake. They can’t blame anyone but themselves. I think whatever happens around us, we need to be aware of our responsibility for every action we take. We must try to abstract ourselves from external circumstances, to be able to look into ourselves, to understand what kind of life we want for ourselves and what will happen if.
