The idea is not the newest – a former professor-neuroscientist, who did not receive funding for his project, as a result of which he was not signed and the indefinite labor contract he hoped for, organizes a gang of intellectuals. In it, he recruits people like him, who have a doctorate, but do not have a decent job - someone works at a gas station, someone washes dishes in a restaurant, someone "earns" by playing cards, but not very successfully, etc. He develops a drug with a formula not yet included in the list of banned substances in Italy and slowly the group begins to earn a lot of money, but in this regard they begin to have big troubles. . . I can’t say that the film is perfect, of course, but you can watch it for those who love comedy in general and Italian comedy in particular. The actors are well selected and play well. I must say that the director did not stop there, he shot two films about the further adventures of the characters, but I do not know whether I will watch them, as practice shows, this idea is rarely very successful.
Pietro (Edoardo Leo) is an up-and-coming researcher. His research in the field of neuroscience is so deep and innovative that the meaning of the work does not understand even the scientific supervisor of a hard worker. The hero falls under the contraction and has no idea how to admit it to his girlfriend (Valeria Solarino). There is not enough money for anything, and there is no one to borrow them from. Friends of Pietro, graduated specialists in various fields of science, also barely make ends meet.
The protagonist offers his comrades to unite in an intellectual gang and, betting on brainstorming, create a legal psychotropic pill. The miracle recipe is received, and yesterday's polymath losers are conquering the drug market. However, drowning in the whirlwind of big money, endless parties and beautiful women, the new drug dealers do not notice how they get into big trouble.
The film “I want to jump off” is the debut of the Italian Sydney Sybilia in the feature film. Nevertheless, the director is quite confident, as if playfully, creates a solid genre frame for his story. The author is not afraid to use the clichés of a criminal comedy, but rather enjoys the references slipping in the plot and repeatedly conveys his greetings to his inspirers.
The synopsis of the film is already preparing the viewer for the plot twists that refer to the series “In all serious”: scientists are infiltrating the space of the drug business and surprise everyone with their tricks. The main characters, with their obvious inexperience, combined with boundless, sometimes naive self-confidence, seem to have migrated from the Guy Ritchie crime-comedy universe. In it, every layman is just as sure that everything will go well for him. It is this clumsiness of adult scientists, noticeable only from the outside, who sell the works of their scientific activity in nightclubs in Italy, brings humor to the fore.
Actor Edoardo Leo, who played the main role in the film, can be seen in several Italian comedies, released this year in the Russian box office. The tone of the narrative “I want to jump” echoes the inspiring and brisk story of “Who are these people” directed by Fabio Bonifacci and Francesco Miccie, where Leo played the office clerk David, who began his life from scratch and embarked on an adventure and adventure tour with charming strangers.
However, the picture of Sybilia about scientists-swindlers, with all the recklessness of the heroes, retains the feeling of a laboratory experiment. This is not just about the process of finding a recipe for a new smart drug, because the characters have accumulated many questions about the life that drove them, the greatest minds of Italy, to poverty. What is it like to be indecently rich? How to make a loved one happy? How can we prove to the world and to all employers who do not tolerate people with diplomas that knowledge is not about learning, but about people who are creative and fearless? Seven educated bandits are sure to get to the truth.

Although unprofessional, I will start with a little lyrical retreat. In recent years, in connection with the transition of universities to self-sufficiency, the question of “how to make money” is very acute. So acute that the full staff of the Department of Theoretical Physics is seriously discussing the issue of creating its own car service for the diagnosis of injection systems. I have never been to a meeting of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry, but my intuition suggests that there were more interesting options. In any case, they produce alcohol for their needs - with the proper level of interest in drugs, too, it can turn out. But the biologists version of the cannabis plantation sounded accurate – heard with my ears.
It is sad to see that foreign colleagues face the same problems – comedies are never removed from their heads, there is always some real background. It is possible that some of the professors there also came up with the idea of not quite legal earnings against the background of the general crisis and lack of money. The Italians have always been an easy-to-rise nation, and if the main character of the film came up with an adventure that does not threaten problems with the law, but promises a lot of easy money, then further - just a matter of technology. Thus, the huge plus of the film lies in its incredible dynamism: here is the plot, here is the professor developed a plan, here is the recruitment of colleagues. There’s no time to be positively bored because there’s always something going on on the screen, and the great thing is that things are really funny. It's nice when you promise action comedy and keep your word. Humor, I must say, is not purely academic, and there is not so much national color – everyone can understand and laugh.
For the completeness of the picture in "I want and jump" there is a place and unobtrusive love line (as always, all crimes - for love!), and a drop of moralization. What did you think? Drugs are bad, as one South Park character said, and easy money often leads to trouble. But there will be no heavy finale in the spirit of Requiem for a Dream: the denouement is as witty and dynamic as the whole film. If you do not want to be loaded, but just feel a yearning for a cheerful, reckless, but not full of vulgarity of the movie (girls from the escort do not count), then this Italian comedy should please you. Of course, people’s tastes are different, but there are probably not so many viewers who will find “I want to jump off” a boring and unfunny film. And if you are a fan of Italian comedy classics, then you should get acquainted with one of the modern samples.
This movie is uplifting. The bundle is similar to the plot of the famous series "Breaking Bad" - a talented researcher creates a unique product in the field of narcotic substances. To implement this idea, he attracts his equally talented (and, like him, downsized) former colleagues.
There was a double feeling during the viewing. On the one hand, it is always sad to see brilliant scientists in this position. However, the characters were presented so amusing and colorful that sad thoughts quickly moved to another plane. A neuroscientist who, in order to get paid from his students, has to chase them on a bicycle, two Latin scientists working at a gas station, a dishwasher chemist, an archaeologist who is able to tell the history of the buildings they follow in preparation for the robbery, a macroeconomics expert who uses his skills to count cards in poker (when playing with gypsies), and an anthropologist who tries to hide the availability of higher education from the head of the city dump to get a job – such is the team.
The actors did great. It is difficult to single out one person because it was their interaction that mattered. What is only the scene of the robbery of the pharmacy, where the heroes took old pistols, bicentennial guns and bayonets as weapons.
The plot develops lively and dynamically, which adds points to the piggy bank of the film.
If you want to lift your spirits and enjoy a funny and adventurous spectacle, be sure to watch "I want and jump."

There is a misconception that Italians specialize exclusively in cheerful comedies about the sun, love adventures and wine. After which there is a feeling of pleasant relaxation, accompanied by a languid walking smile, as after experiencing these stimuli. Are you ready for something generously charged with other qualities? “I want to jump off” is a combustible incendiary mixture, which is launched in you almost like a Molotov cocktail. It will not be superfluous to prepare for the viewing, wearing protective chemical glasses and gloves. Let's start the experiment!
As there are no accidents in this world, not without reason we touched the subject of the science of the mysterious universe consisting of molecules and atoms. Now we're going to talk about chemists. And this is the first paradox that "includes" attention in relation to the picture. This time, the film wasn’t “synthesized,” it was “synthesized.” No singers, winemakers or lovers. Chemists! What phenomenon in this world can do without love? Of course, we will talk about it too.
The plot is tied to a question that is quite acute now in the homeland of Dante Alighieri (after all, it is a little more difficult to find the name of the outstanding Italian chemist). And there's a political note to that that's played in the film. A young, but who gave his whole soul to science, a university lecturer falls under a reduction and finds himself in a critical situation. Faced with a lack of money ... and your girlfriend, who is not at all inspired by their financial situation (the salary of researchers for Russians is quite understandable). Being a trembling nature, but on the verge of disaster, the hero invents a "genius" plan - to take advantage of the hole in the legislation and create legal drugs. To do this, he assembles a masterful gang of similar “minds” who have not achieved success through their immense knowledge. "Treacherous" leader of the criminal group - Pietro Ginny! Further development of events is not subject to logical description - curiosities are piled on each other and exceed any reasonable expectations. The brave team of Italy’s “best” heads at all stages of its existence comes with the most unpredictable solutions to problems, including the robbery of a pharmacy with weapons from the time of Napoleon and even a gypsy wedding.
The story is unconventional in relation to the country in which it was filmed, but tribute is paid to traditions. The role of the central character is played by the already won love in the Russian expanses - the classically charming Italian Edoardo Leo. His imposing face takes on an indescribable number of expressions throughout all the misadventures that happen to him. But this is certainly not the only part involved. In the role of his beloved is the beautiful Valeria Solarino. You can get acquainted with it by "Love" ("Love: Instructions for use 3"). In "I want and jump" the actress appears in a slightly different role, in which it is interesting to watch her. Other characters are literally “works of art”, one is more beautiful than the other. And I must say - there is a reason to visit this gallery of scientific arts.
One of the "chips" are also characteristic parallels with the image of American bandits, which in the Italian way, naturally look super comic.
As they often began to meet, there are also Russian-language “inclusions” throughout the plot. Not the most elevated image, but it is nice to hear passages of native speech.
In a nutshell - an adventurous apotheosis, charming with its humor not only Italy, but also the whole of Europe.
Well, set it on fire!
A very cheerful Italian comedy about scientists who launched the production and sale of drugs.
The film pleased with a dynamic script, an excellent cast and in general - a very cheerful course of the whole film, with brilliant script finds.
In some places very subtle and not at all Italian, rather British humor. It’s so British that there’s a lot of talk about the beautiful “Cards, Money, Two Guns” and Guy Ritchie in particular, and it’s not too shy to talk about its genetic relatives.
Through the prism of actively gesturing Italians, the film, with the filter of beautiful Rome, “I want and jump off” turns into a completely unique and holistic object that can be safely recommended to all fans of smart, funny and lively cinema, to the extent seasoned with black humor.
