Link. The path of each person is not simple, contradictory and full of trials. But we do not realize this immediately, but only after in our imagination the smooth flat field of the future life suddenly turns into a dense forest, a steep mountain or a tramp swamp. This is what happened to the main character of the film. Maria (Svetlana Tormakhova) is a sincere, honest, trusting, purposeful, hardworking woman who does not tolerate compromises. If you work, it's from dawn to dawn. If you love, with all your heart. She just can't do otherwise. For her labor dedication, the chairman of the kolkhoz appoints her linking brigade of tractor drivers. Some people don’t like it: “Under the woman to walk?” Someone skeptically indifferent: "We are her, and they are us!" Someone is not averse to having their benefit: "Where is Chernyak (chairman of the collective farm), there is a surety!" In his personal life, Mary is equally principled and consistent.
The chosen one of her heart - tractor driver Tolik (Nikolai Sektimenko) - she brings to the house without asking permission of her parents. And this is strange, because in Russia, such a son-in-law, adopted into the family of his wife by his father-in-law or mother-in-law, was called somewhat offensively - "primak". However, Tolik, who has “no stake or yard”, does not burden him in the least, rather, on the contrary: new times are new mores. The film only has 68 minutes, which suggests that something seems to have been cut because a number of episodes have no logical conclusion. In addition, the creators of the picture did not put time markers to explain the chronology of the narrative. This made it difficult to understand what was happening on the screen. 68 minutes of the picture cover about five to six years of Maria's life - from the nomination of her linen, to the deputy; from a happy bride to a single mother.
If working life brings honor and inner satisfaction to Mary, then everything is not so smooth in her personal life. Tolik turned out to be both a bad father and a bad husband: his son was raised by his wife’s parents, and his wife was often in the region. So Tolik used the benefits of “half-idle” life. But, as you know, "how much rope not to twirl, and the end will be" - too principled and inflexible in Mary's character. Against the background of discord in the family, some of the villagers dissatisfied with the rise of Mary, allows unpleasant hints in her direction. Wounded in her brightest intentions, distraught Maria goes to the city to see her younger sister Svetlana. This trip allows her to understand what her true calling is.
The film has a symbolic title. It is as twofold as the life of each of us: work and home. Work for Mary is a heavy share of the grain-grower, and for bread in the fields there is nothing worse than cover rains throughout the territory. And home is personal family happiness. And here Maria has had rain all over the territory for several years. However, closer to the final of the picture, in a continuous thunderstorm front, there were sunny lumens in the form of a long-time friend who patiently waits for the rains to finally end, and the whole world will be washed with sunlight. . .
